"I don't get it" was more of a figure of speech. However if you have these kinds of numbers even with strong suppression of economic activity then you will probably nuke the whole economy by opening it for just a few weeks. Plus once you overwhelm the healthcare system the death rate isn't only 2.5%. My government has new daily number of registered cases almost in single digits on better days, but they are still very careful and slow with opening because things can get out hand quickly. Plus there is plenty of undetected cases around the landscape.



The funny part is that my right that runs the pandemic response wouldn't qualify as the right in US. While for me US has more of a problem with misinformation and crazy people than with anything truly right.
