Apparently USA has had most all drugs outsourced to China... that is fucking stupid. I hope Trump brings it back to USA.

If you run out of toilet paper, you could just cut up some old t-shirts. :D

The sewer system is about to be rendered inoperable due to a surplus of Old Navy t-shirts being flushed down the drains across the USA.

That's what happens when you let companies decide -- with minimal 'control' from the government.

I hope every country learns to be slightly more self-reliant from this in terms of basic things, like food and medical supplies.

There’s some conspiracy theory that this thing may have actually started in the US, and that we’ve already had several deaths, but that they were just reported as normal flu season deaths. The idea being that when the powers that be realized this thing could wreck the US economy, they had it transmitted to China so the rest of the world would be economically crippled and the US would not be at a disadvantage

No proof but I wouldn’t be surprised, given some of the nefarious shit our government has done to meddle in other nations’ affairs

If a party get suspicious that other party as the troublemaker, they must support their suspicion with evidence. However, I would suggest conspiracy theory concerning who is behind this corona virus outbreak shouldn't be entertained at least until this pandemic is overcome. Prioritizing in finding a cure and stopping the spread would be more appropriate at the moment.

my state got its first case. A woman in city which my town is a suburb to. She recently travelled to New York. Our governor immediately declared a state of emergency. I already like Brad Little more than Butch Otter for that one. lol. But my college has put all nursing classes online, our classes will go as normal this week, and instead of 1 week of spring break we will have 2 weeks of spring break. I'm nervous how my teachers are gonna adjust the schedule to handle this. XD

Yeah I don't buy this one, China's trying to save their asses because we can see through the searches through online they were trying to cover up they had coronavirus long before that doctor released it. Btw, for something so caused by the US, that doctor was thrown into prison for telling the world. Even the big organizations chastised China for trying to cover up they had it 2 months prior to releasing the issue. I do not trust a bunch of Communists to be honest.

Wouldn't the situation be much more dire here by now if that were the case? I guess I'm mostly thinking of the situation in Italy and China and how different the dynamic is there. Being connected directly with vulnerable populations like the facility where my father is living, I have some sense that an older standing outbreak would have made a stronger appearance throughout vulnerable populations. I don't think it could be disguised as a normal flu season.

I was slow to take it seriously enough because the people I have been around that seem normal, bright, and trusted were talking casually about it. There were 19 cases in my state yesterday which was double from the day before. The entire statewide school system is shut down now.

I agree, but most people write that shit off as "Nationalism".

The Chinese government is actively pushing this narrative, to cover themselves. The initial outbreak was mismanaged by provincial officials. They then started the narrative that "China saved the world by sacrificing Wuhan" but that didn't work once it spread. The Chinese are also trying to push an "Italian virus" narrative.

Nationalism is an exclusionary ideology. Companies running with minimal control/regulations from the government is called "capitalism", an economic system. Feel free to look it up.

What's disgusting is that everyone is trying turn this into their political card, and they're not getting called out for it. Not cool, humanity, not cool.

I don't think you realize what a monumental decision it was to block off China air travel coming in? Really? That's like calling the decision to close a barn door after the horses left, "monumental." You're my hero Pencey, boy. What a guy.

I was gonna get some ground beef and Italian sausage to make some of Pepin's ragu sauce, but there were long lines (about 50 people long) at Walmart and Target. All the toilet paper and bottled water shelves were emptied. Even Ralphs and CVS were affected. Now, I'm not sure when I'll be able to go shopping again. I still have about 6 weeks worth of toilet paper so I'm good.

There needs to be separate lines for the nuts who want to hoard water and toilet paper and the rest of us who want to do regular shopping.

What is wrong with exclusion? Not everyone gets to win/get first place in the world. It is literally impossible to help everyone. Why sink your own nation for an idealistic purpose like saving the world from their own stupidity? Putting your country first shouldn't even be in question, because you fucking live there. Wanting to see it get treated like shit, by other countries, and being slave to their interests is just delusional. Its like saying you want your dad to die, because you don't like him despite him the only one with a job in the household.

Now I am all for having regulations to control corporations to stop outsourcing. I do feel there is too many loopholes. But you know what creates all the loopholes? Regulations. Simplicity is the best solution to the problem of tax evasion, and outsourcing.

I find seedy gas stations to be unpilfered thus far.

How would you like China to exclude the USA from antibiotics?

We shouldn't have had that happen to begin with. I am all for nationalist approaches for certain things, especially things that your entire nation's health hinges on in an emergency. America should make its own medicine, its own guns, and its own food.
