Holy shit, what if this killed Pence and Trump? Pelosi is next in line, but she herself is no spring chicken. So who's next, Chuck Grassley? Also not a young guy. Then we're on to the cabinet.

Obviously the likelihood of all of them dying or being incapacitated at once or in rapid succession is pretty low, but still something worth considering.

Yes, it's going to put older candidates at a disadvantage, if not actually result in illnesses among them. But the situation in general is probably going to mean the end of political rallies, at least for the short-term. The trend is away from big, crowded gatherings. And I bet these older candidates are already feeling the paranoia. They know they're in a high-risk position. (Trump has said in the past that he himself is a germaphobe.)

True, and if the spread rate subsides in the warm months, I suppose it will not matter, but do we really know for sure if this thing will go away in the summer? Flu-like viruses never totally go away, hell I once caught it in June, though I'm pretty sure I'd been flying that year :)

I won't be surprised if the conventions have very limited audiences, and the presidential debates could be held with no audiences if this thing doesn't go away.

Heheh. Who knows. But there are always more politicians to spring up and replace any old ones that disappear. Thre is never going to be a shortage of politicians, even in the worst of plagues. :)

Yeah, I'm sure they'll find some way to work around it. It's just a question of accepting the transition away from live events with big cheering audiences.

As a social introvert, this is the one positive to come out of all of this. I've had multiple business meetings cancelled and trips from outside sales reps are being cancelled left and right. And I have a legitimate excuse for cancelling any visits too. There's a work get-together coming up and I am not going to be attending that either.

So a temporary end to big crowds is really great for me. Just sucks it has to be because of a supervirus.

Sorry, I didn't see this part of your post. Anyway, no one knows for sure what will happen with the coronavirus when the warm weather hits. But the coronavirus has been mostly avoiding the southern hemisphere up till now, which indicates that it doesn't fare well in the heat.

So once spring hits and the warm weather comes to the northern hemisphere (and the cold weather goes to the southern hemisphere), some folks are predicting that the northern hemisphere will get a break in the flu action.

Yeah, I agree with all this as a fellow introvert. The concept of loners and individualism are going to get a boost out of all this. The solitary life is going to be seen as smart preventive medicine. Collectivism and communal living are out, at least for a while.

Do you think that introverts and loners are less likely to get sick from flu and cold-like viruses? It seems like at my work, there are a few highly extroverted, touchy feely people who seem to be perpetually sick from about November through March.

Yes, something like that. All that touchy-feely stuff is a liability when there's a bug going around. I think even Biden is going to be a little more hands-off for a while: No more nuzzling women and sniffing little girls' hair. :)

They'll get him some of those life sized replica dolls that little rich girls get for their birthdays, with wigs made from real human hair, to ease his withdrawal symptoms.

I am not at all set up to work from home. This could be really bad if my company makes a similar decision.

The Corona virus outbreak or should I say COVID 19 pandemic seems to get worse in Europe. Italy has been totally locked down. source
Coronavirus: Why is Italy the second worst affected country after China? - ITV News

I wonder how is Methylene. She is from Italy.
China is still the worst affected by corona virus, but I do not notice any members of TypoC who comes from there. It would be good if we had the chance to get TypoC member who resides in the first epicenter of the virus outbreak interviewed.

Btw, Has anybody ever wondered what coronavirus does to the body ?
Some predicts that vaccines will eventually be available.Coronavirus: How close are we to a vaccine? - BBC News. But, While vaccines is under development, should we just wait and see ? I would prefer try alternative herbs if available while patiently waiting for the vaccine to be ready, as we ourselves might get infected before the vaccine is successfully developed, and tested.

The article from national geographic discussed about cytokine storm that might cause some problem. Fortunately, Researchers have found that Curcumin can suppress the Cytokine storm. Curcumin Suppression of Cytokine Release and Cytokine Storm. A Potential Therapy for Patients with Ebola and Other Severe Viral Infections
Curcumin Suppresses the Production of Pro-inflammatory Cytokine Interleukin-18 in Lipopolysaccharide Stimulated Murine Macrophage-Like Cells

We should try consuming food which contains curcumin. Some of the herbs and spices like red ginger, and tumeric, curcuma are traditionally drink as herbal drink called "jamu" in Indonesia. I myself drink red ginger whenever I get flu.

I feel like I catch anything that is coughed within a mile radius of me and I'm not the most touchy feely person unless we're friends already. I swear I catch everything...

It is grating when it isn't articulated clearly (because it gets dismissed as senseless Trump bashing) and calamity by pandemic admittedly seemed like a long-shot, but this administration did fuck up by dissembling the team of experts who would know what to do in a pandemic emergency. And then putting "fuck science, let's pray!" Pence in charge.

Singapore Wins Praise For Its COVID-19 Strategy. The U.S. Does Not

I'm having trouble finding out why tests haven't been more available here, but testing should have been (and should still be) far more extensive.

Oh don't worry THAT, I understand. Because number one I wanted Trump to stop acting like it wasn't that bad and saying the dems were using it to get him out, then him putting Pence in charge made me hard face palm, and the lack of testing IS a mess. but telling people not to go to Europe right now is SMART because the CDC has literally said ships and planes are petridishes of spread and a lot of cases are travel based. Let's not act like just cuz Trump said it, that it is wrong. I am sure someone more professional than Trump pushed the idea though. Since he seems to think it really isn't that bad. lol.

Ah. Yeah.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic here to just single this out because a lot more went to that, speaking as someone who doesn't often agree with Trump, and cringes 99.9% of the time he speaks. Including having to hear him talk on my TV last night. And I didn't even vote for him.

Dumb people can have good speech writers and brains...well "force" them to act like they have one. Actions will be louder than the words though.
