MSNBC and CNN cut away from Trump + admin after Dr. Fauchi ended speaking, and Trump began to air a propaganda video. GOOD, as they should! It's a crying shame it's taken so long for them to acknowledge this, but at least it does demonstrate that some major media outlets will draw a line in the sand. Hopefully, they will continue this trend and more solidly draw the line to eliminate Trump and his bullshit lies.

Disinformation is a problem, and people are starting to get it.

CNN, MSNBC Cut Away From Donald Trump’s Coronavirus Briefing – Deadline

No they won't. Trump = ratings = $$.

I haven't seen a single one of these mini Trump rallies. I don't see the point, I can read what the doctors and experts say in a million other places.

To bring this thread back on track, this is a good prospective on what is being done with the dead, particularly in NYC.

IIRC there were places in the Rust Belt commandeering refrigerated trucks like 5 years ago as they were getting hit with the opioid crisis and running out of room for the bodies. So it didn't seem particularly shocking to me now.

New York City has a population density of about 27,000 per square mile with Manhattan being by far the most dense at 69,000. It seems like that would make it harder to stop the spread. The city of Los Angeles is only about 8,000 per square mile.

Hart Island has been used as for quarantine and a cemetery for a long long time in NYC. This isn't the first epidemic they've needed it for, it won't be the last. I remember they buried the first HIV deaths there because they thought the bodies would contaminate others. I'm also sure they showed it on NYC Aerial America on the Smithsonian channel - they've always been buried in trenches like this. I just find it odd this isn't more widely known.

The look on that reporter's face when Fauci told him that Trump shut down the economy the second he advised it was priceless.

Seeing and hearing things live, direct from the source, with all the expression and oral emphasis absent written media, is a much better way to take in information if available. Of course 'not seeing the point' isn't why you tune out (trigger warning)

Let's assume for a second that this is actually meaningful and true (HA!).

Now let's look at a sample of everything else. Taken from reddit, glad I saved this:

Saw in article saying in Australia, they're finding ivermectin, normally head lice treatment, slows the virus and causes elimination within 48 hours. now they are figuring out how to dose that to a human. Interesting though.

From your own linked study:
Due to the severity of SARS-CoV infection, the potential for rapid spread of the disease, and the absence of proven effective and safe in vivo inhibitors of the virus, it is important to identify drugs that can effectively be used to treat or prevent potential SARS-CoV infections.

We report, however, that chloroquine has strong antiviral effects on SARS-CoV infection of primate cells. These inhibitory effects are observed when the cells are treated with the drug either before or after exposure to the virus, suggesting both prophylactic and therapeutic advantage. In addition to the well-known functions of chloroquine such as elevations of endosomal pH, the drug appears to interfere with terminal glycosylation of the cellular receptor, angiotensin-converting enzyme 2. This may negatively influence the virus-receptor binding and abrogate the infection, with further ramifications by the elevation of vesicular pH, resulting in the inhibition of infection and spread of SARS CoV at clinically admissible concentrations.

SARS-CoV had a 15% mortality rate. Medicine is all about weighing the risks against the potential benefits, though I'm not surprised this subtlety is lost on you. But let's not play coy here. If Trump hadn't run his mouth off and gotten shit for this, you wouldn't be talking about it.

COVID-19 Patients Given Unproven Drug In Texas Nursing Home In 'Disconcerting' Move | WKMS

Armstrong, who is a prominent GOP activist, called Republican Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick. He says Patrick reached out to Texas state Sen. Bryan Hughes, also a Republican, who knew someone on the board of the New Jersey-based company Amneal Pharmaceuticals. The company, which makes and distributes the drug, has donated more than a million tablets nationwide, including to the states of Texas and Louisiana.

Two days later, Armstrong had received more than enough medication to begin giving it to patients. He said he started by screening those he believed would benefit most and added more people each day. He monitored their blood oxygen saturation, temperatures and how well they were breathing.

He acknowledged that some families were not aware their relatives were put on the drug, saying that "for the most part," he consulted with each nursing home resident prior to giving them on the tablets.

While the "overwhelming majority of them are awake and alert and can actually have a conversation," Armstrong said some suffer from middle stages of dementia. In some cases, he did not discuss prescribing the tablets with anyone at all before doing so. He said it is common for physicians to prescribe new medications to patients without explicit consent from the patient or family members. "It's not required," he said.

It absolutely IS required, clinical trials have, especially for dementia patients or elderly, stringent consent. But oh, this wasn't a clinical trial, it was an "observational study". I'm sure that Josef Mengele or the doctors at Tuskegee felt the same way. Expect more of this from the GOP - criminals gonna criminal after all.

Unfortunately I don’t quality for Pelosi pesos or Schumer shekels or Democrat dollars McConnell monies or Republican rubles or whatever we’re calling them today (never heard the term Trump bux before, but considering he doesn’t write legislation I find it an odd, laughable name). I am a little annoyed with the rise in Donnie debt though.
