The thing that's most wild to me is that Trump is willing to jeopardize his biggest supporters. The only people actually voting for him, totally willing to die for him.

I expect it's quite the high

Yeah, the cheers when he said that..

It makes as much sense as, slow down pregnancy tests... see? No more babies! :17425:

I've been expecting an onslaught "A routine D&C isn't an abortion if no pregnancy test was taken / Trump solved the abortion debate!" memes since he started saying this (which was actually over a month ago). I think people must be getting exhausted from all the material he gives us. It took over two hours for memes of Sharpie stick figures filling the stadium to surface in my Fb feed last night.

Hmm...where have you heard of suicide pacts, relative to charismatic cult leaders? Jim Jones.

I don't like calling it a cult because it gives conservatives an excuse and yet another notch in their professional victim hood. Ever listen to Trump supporters, especially ones with a platform, say almost anything to take focus away from the fact that *they* voted for him? They will do and say anything to get people to forget they voted for Trump. Such as;

This is how you get Trump elected again.
Better find me a Dem candidate I can vote for.
Liberals better compromise and negotiate if they want me to wear a mask.

Bitch, I didn't vote for this pig of a human. You did. Trump is your fault. Walk away, stay at home, go cry harder but ideally, go fuck yourself. :bye:

But it is a cult, a cult of personality much like Jim Jones, Hitler, etc. Regardless of what you want to call it, everything can be twisted by Conservative spin doctors. Why not give them an out if they wish to change their vote?

If they plant to change their vote that's another matter, plus I doubt they are the ones telling libs to do something for them. But anyone going to a Trump rally is doubling down on their vote for Trump. But I have heard more of them claiming to have no plans to vote at all, which I don't really believe. They may skip voting for president but they will vote for the people who have been just as responsible for Trump in the house and even more in the Senate which as done literally nothing for 4 years.

To be fair, it's not just 'them' who voted in a conservative dominant Senate. I'm not defending them since their mindsets are appalling but to blame everything on 'them' would be inaccurate. There are plenty of swing voters who voted for Trump and other conservative politicians. That's how Trump and the GOP Senators were voted into office.

I just don't think most Trump supporters are as hateful and psychopathic as the loudest among them suggests. They need this to hit home, to be immersed in the reality of it, for it to stop looking like "fake news."

Phase one. (Of ten, maybe?)

eta: Suffice it to say, though I agree there's something counterproductive about calling it a cult (if the ultimate goal is reconciliation), I think this^ is some cult-caliber denial.

Interesting Twitter thread re: cult.

Of course not. By blaming only "them" that lets every billionaire, lobbyists for fossil fuel companies and general degenerate rich people off the hook. I'm not doing that either. But the rubes are doing all their legwork by defending Trump and the GOP and the billionaire class, like they think they will be part of it one day. That's the one thing that makes me feel sorry for them - you're working class or working poor. Stop it.

Agreed, especially since Trump and the GOP despise them as low lifes on the socioeconomic scale. But they're useful idiots, much like Trump is a useful idiot to dark money.

Daily new cases in Germany are up 75% compared to the previous week... mostly due to over 1300 infected workers at the meat plant.

Virtual ghost They are definitely almost all Eastern European. I heard Romanian, Bulgarian and Polish. Local politicians and corporate management say they brought the infection in while most experts seem to agree that is next to impossible. They most likely got sick at work and then quickly infected each other due to the bad working and living conditions. The silverlining for the locals is that they apparently didn't have much contact with the general local population.

There are calls for the manager to be jailed. Not is the company (biggest meat processor in the most populous state) violating hygiene and labor regulations, they were also uncooperative with the health department and made it hard to find and trace their workers (many of whom don't speak German and /or had already returned home)

Why would that be impossible ? Poland peaked only a few days ago and has 13 400 active known cases. Romania has 5600 of them with slight increasing. While in Bulgaria there is a second spike. True local infection of tightly packed workers is possible since Germany still isn't "clean" but saying this is impossible is just stupid.

Here we are toughening our borders towards certain neighbors since the numbers there are going up and we already imported the virus again. Since those neighboring countries are "sinking" again. Therefore the medical teams are trying to find all contacts and root this out at the start. Reinfecting the country from abroad is active threat, after all that is how virus got into every country but China. If we don't count vaccines solving this crisis without limiting travel or convincing people not to do it if possible is almost mission impossible. Since reinfecting the areas is a real thing.

LOL. I said "next to impossible" i.e. highly unlikely and it's not my opinion but that of the health experts. The reason is the speed and intensity of the spread combined with the known incubation period. They can do at least rudimentary epidemiological models. Also, at over 1300 infected workers at one factory how likely is it they all brought the infection in individually from abroad? Some might have brought it in, others will have gotten it locally but the main point is that the employer had them work and live so close together that such an extremely high number of them got infected within a very short time. A handful might have brought it in but the enormous spread took place in the factory.

Ok, we have "English" problem and I probably got the choice of words wrong. However for me there is no need for "impossible" in any context regarding this story.

However the virus can spread pretty quickly in closed spaces. Therefore in my book it is enough that one or a few brought it from abroad and the whole factory got infected within days, even if incubation time is still "in motion". Of course that not every single one of them brought it from abroad, but I count only the original source. Which is potentially abroad. Here people are annoyed with our our workers that constantly coming home and going back. You work there, stay there if it isn't a emergency. Since the country got cleaned. Also one neighboring country was at 0 for weeks and now they have a growing problem since some dudes had to go on a soccer game abroad. First class idiotism.

But yes, the management should have seen this one coming. People tightly packed with plenty of organic material are logical "vulnerable place".
