The controversy about the lockdown was never about "muh freedoms", and more about not letting the government forcefully prevent you from working, or leaving the house (which is authoritarian). Which they have been doing, and its unconstitutional. Regardless of the good intentions. You know the saying, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." I will say it again, the government isn't going to return this power once you give it to them. It will just become another tool they can use and abuse you for "The greater good", wheyher or not you agree on what is good. People need to realize the government doesn't give a fuck about you. And even if some did, they do not have the power to help you. They will only work to keep you complacent, as they slowly remove all your rights as a human being.

What blows my kind is how quickly people fall in line for a few crumbs. Yet people like to tell me human nature isn't obvious and predictable. The people will vote themselves into slavery indeed.

Models show a drastic increase of death from automobile accidents when drivers are going more than 5mph. Though I guess there isn't really much in the way of models showing that government mandated lockdowns enforced at gunpoint do much at reducing Covid19 deaths, so you're probably right.

When you or I drive from A to B, we are not a model. At the end of our trip, it is quite apparent whether we did any damage along the way.

I suppose what I am saying is that, however predictive statistics may be, in some cases it is much easier to see whether the prediction is validated or not. And I didn't even get into cost/benefit. The benefit of fewer accidents reaped in your silly driving example might be just as readily reached through some other method with less severe side effects. This is why, as I have mentioned in discussions of gun control, I am willing to support limitations on our freedom only if they can reasonably be shown to provide the intended benefit. On that topic, we have mountains of data. Not so with COVID-19.

the only thing I could see about her being too strict is her deciding that certain baby items were not essential. New mother's may really need to see a car seat or certain items to be sure the baby will be safe in them. Babies did not disappear. Otherwise, I mean, this is really a true lockdown. Idaho's lockdown was a pressured joke at best... my grandpa wants to claim our governor did a good job... I'm voting for someone else this year.

We have data on Covid19 pointing to an approximate 98% survivabilty rate. We have data on Covid19 that identifies high risk groups, like nursing homes. We have data on the effect of what a Great Depression does to a nation. You want to talk about cost/benefit analaysis between the two? Good. Let's do that. My only point of contention, which is not even necessarily with you even though I used one of your posts as a launching point, was that NOT doing that cost/benefit analysis in favor of just locking down indefinitely for political reasons disguised as "saving (short term) lives" is ridiculous.

I don't think that one lasted very long, same with all the garden items, plants and seeds - I was able to buy all the stuff I needed ultimately. I sent her an email about that and stuff like boating or fishing - she also lifted those restrictions. I don't have much issue with how she is handling things, she is very in line with most states.

The protests simply make people on the right look like complete loons - they insist they have peaceful motives.
