Uh, yeah it is. Because the president* just adovcated for some of the most idiodic bullshit a human could possibly do.

INJECT BLEACH? Holy good god hell this human being is beyond fucked up. He doesn't understand anything, most importantly he doesn't understand himself or what he represents to people, the world, and the tremendous social impact his words and actions impart.

Trump suggests injecting disinfectant to treat coronavirus and touts power of sunlight to beat disease | The Independent

Pardon my ignorance, but where in that video did they say anything about injecting bleach? Do you have a video?

He used the term disinfectant. If you want to skewer me over saying bleach instead, have at it.

He is talking about a hypothetical cure, which he mentions needs to be tested, about injecting "UV light" to help disinfect the body in an analogy/visual example. I picked up on that within minutes of the video, on what exactly he was talking about. I am sorry your language comprehension is worse than someone who has a language comprehension disorder. It's quite sad.

So fun fact, I actually do have mild dyslexia. Well, it's not official but it's been floated by multiple people throughout my life, so I tend to regard it. This is why I often make spelling errors, typos, and mix up functional worlds from time to time. It's why when people read my posts there are occasional grammatical burps. I generally don't notice or realize them unless I go back and re-read my posts. This however, rarely effects my reading comprehension, and I also take steps to make sure I correct course if an error is detected.

As for why I used bleach? Because that is often what disinfectant is, and it is an easier word for me to type so I used it instead. It also would not be the least bit surprising if he suggested that.

All in all you miss the entire point. You don't understand - at all - that what Trump said here, and what he has said in nearly every single speech he has given is incredibly prolematic. If he were a lay person not in a position of power, the reaction would be "meh, he's just an idiot talking out his ass". But, he IS in a postion of power, the highest in the country infact. He needs to be held to an incredibly high standard, particularly on something as important as a pandemic when clear effectual communcation of what is happening is done. There are millions of people listening to him, thinking he is doing this right, and will take his word. If he isn't accurate and conveys what is happening accurately at its worst he could get people KILLED. Which has literally already happened (due to him peddling unsubstantiated treatments)!

Your problem here is that you are looking at the surface. You don't read subtext. You don't take things from a collective holistic approach. It is actually you who has weak comprehension of complex events.

Bleach was never considered a disinfectant in my sphere. You read what you wanted to read, in that conversation. You are no different than I, in seeing what I want to see.

I think you have a problem in understanding people/reading into context. Just like Ceecee, you repeatedly take the bad guy approach to anything Trump does. That is unhealthy. No one can be wrong, 100% of the time. A broken clock is right twice a day. You refuse to admit anything positive Trump does, and refuse to see anything positive. You are constantly reinforced by the media that sells controversy, who doesn't give a fuck about your mental health. They exist sole to rile you up, and make money off your clicks. Why can't you see that you are being taken advantage of a capitalist corporation, who's sole focus is to make money off your outrage?

I find it quite ironic, that the very people you hate. Are the ones pulling your strings.

...wow

I really don't know what else to say. Projection is by far the most bizzare psychological phenomona there is. It doesn't make any sense onto how or why it would exist in a person. And then... there it is.

How the hell are supposed to deal with it? (rhetorical).

I'm gonna go do my MSP tutorials for the night. This is just... I don't even know anymore.

Not true. I vaguely remember a Pizza Hut commercial with him from decades ago that was amusing to me as a kid. It had something to do with violating pizza norms.

The problem I have with Trump is that he bullshits at pretty much all his conferences. By bullshitting, I mean very specifically that he says things with very little regard to its truthfulness or empathic content. Sometimes just saying whatever pops into his head at that very moment even. There may be a context where that form of communication is acceptable or even desirable. But, a public health announcement meeting is not one of those contexts.

He's not the only politician who does this, BTW. In case you think this is purely partisan, I'd put both Cuomo and Biden as bullshitters at their conferences. Though, Trump takes it to a whole another level.

A very relevant quote comes from On Bullshit "The liar cares about the truth and attempts to hide it; the bullshitter doesn't care if what they say is true or false, but rather only cares whether their listener is persuaded." I recommend that book, BTW. It is a short and amusing read.

Yeah he is on another level completely. I don't watch these idiotic rallies every night so with no context, I had no idea. I did think it was Jim Bakker, who has hawked these kinds of things in the past as cures but it's not shocking to hear Trump saying something this brain damaged.

I see it's already started but here's how it will go...

GOP will deny he said it.
Trump will deny he said it
His biggest fans will attempt to explain/deny/blame it on everyone else for hating Trump and he didn't really say anything bad, we are simply misunderstanding.
Eventually (like Monday) Trump will say he never said it and it was really the Deep State. Or Democrats Or both.
Move on to the next stupid thing he says

Give it a couple weeks, someone will follow his "instructions. Or maybe their kids or elderly parents.

Didn't we start an entire orange man bad thread to get our TDS venting out? Kind of silly to let it keep distracting us from covid19 info/discussions. Stay on topic please.

Bleach and alcohol above 70% are the two things that have consistently been recommended to disinfect surfaces, electronics, doorknobs, clothing..etc for this virus by any reputable source, outside of your sphere, obviously.

I am not saying it isn't a disinfectant factually, just that no one uses it for such in my sphere. Because a) Smells like ass, and can hurt your lungs. b) It is highly reactive, and is just overall not a good choice for everyday cleaning. c) it ruin material colors.

The closest thing to bleach I use is Comit once in a while. Otherwise I opt for more enviromentally safe chemicals. I also use lysol wipes for disinfecting.

It doesn't matter that you don't prefer it for everyday use. This is that whole - your opinion is not necessarily a fact or even valid - is vividly illustrated.

You should take it up with Lysol since they apparently feel the crazy your boy spewed last night requires a Public Service Announcement.

You've seriously never heard of bleach or alcohol as a disinfectant? I'm not even sure why you're arguing about this, but I've known about that for years. Yes, bleach can be dangerous. But are you telling me you've seriously never heard of alcohol to disinfect a wound?

No, I said I don't consider it/think of it as one that I would use. Not that it isn't one. I use alternative things.
