Story checks out.

I heard that before he was famous, he sold marijuana to The Doors.
Ive been following his career since I was in middle school. He seems like an all around cool dude. I'd like to see both actors in more things. I was really upset when they pushed finn to the back of the bus with the force, and his character arc. I was hoping they were gonna go with both Finn and Rey to be just random force sensitives. Who Luke took an interest in instead of trying to kill his grandson and then running away. Like Father like son I guess, but come on. This was begging to be a Jedi Academy Trilogy, and they fucked it all up across three movies.

I found their lack of sense disturbing.

Yeah, I thought this trilogy would be about either a new generation of Jedi, or training a new generation of Jedi. That thought made me really excited, but instead just got endless nostalgia bait that is sometimes echoed by characters in the movies themselves.

If you've read any of my ideas for my sequel tetralogy, I'm attempting to rectify how they screwed Finn. I also made Rey a Jedi Master. I think you could make it work, though, if you had them both discovering the Force together, though.

I think I'm pretty much done with SW aside from highly reviewed endeavors and/or very specific releases.

I'm just not really a fan, I guess, despite loving elements of the world building.
95% of the people playing in the pool officially kind of suck in terms of storytelling right now.

I'm pretty much at a state with SW where its enough for me that I like what it used to be. What it could still be. And what it may yet be again. But I'm pretty sure Im only this optimistic because I enjoyed Reign of Fire. And because I am a fan of the world building, and the junky retro space opera aesthetic...I can at least rip things off for TTRPG plots. You know, because they're so underdeveloped and unfinished. just begging for a group of imaginative people who dont swallow their own tongues when you ask them for a developed idea, to come up with a more entertaining yet somehow hilariously pervy role played story when the dice get involved.

Im just hoping the bad writers in the pool eventually drown or better yet just get out now...but then hope is like a blue bird. savory and delicious but hard to come by these days.

Different strokes for me I guess. When I watched the trailer my emotional reaction was analogous to how Luke must have felt when he said "And now my father is truly dead."

I don't need Stranger Things in space, lol.

Disney needs to adapt my insane bullshit (which is supposed to end with a philosophical discussion during a lightsaber dual), remove the previous trilogy from canon, and pay me a billion dollars. I always try to set realistic goals.

In all seriousness, the problem with Disney Star Wars is that most of the people spearheading these projects have no imagination. I think there are lots of talented people working on concepts to populate the the environment, but there is none of that with regards to the actual story/characters.

I have a new draft of the next scene. I will proofread it tomorrow. This is mostly just introducing and fleshing out characters.

It's been a while, so I'll cover a few things in case people don't remember or haven't read far back.

This is titled Ripples of the Force and is supposed to be the first of four "movies." This can be thought of an alternate TFA, and is an extremely rough draft. I can think of may holes and weak points. It borrows things from both Canon (the Disney films) and Legends, while putting my own spin on it. This takes place after ROTJ, at least 20 years after.

The Empire and the New Republic both control large swathes of the galaxy. The New Republic controls much of the core, including Coruscant, while the Empire has a large presence in what was once Hutt space, and they've been gaining ground in recent years.

Jyn: She is a powerful Jedi Master. Though she is one of Luke's most capable students, she is mostly a solitary individual who has never taken an apprentice. She grew up as an orphan on a remote desert planet.

Dio: I was calling this character Finn for a while, because he is a stormtrooper who defects to help Jyn carry out her mission at an Imperial base on a swampy world. One of the things I'm trying to do here is coming up with a better character arc for this character. Also, he was a volunteer, not a conscript.

Darth Cadeus: The son of Han and Leia; he is an admirer of Emperor Palpatine. He considers Vader to be weak and a traitor who ruined everything. He is the emperor in this version, and he also has thirteen disciples. He had hoped to recruit a true apprentice, an equal from among their ranks, but none of them meet his standards.

Darth Viral: (It's not any dumber than the names Lucas picked out). He's only 18, and is routinely berated by Darth Cadeus and the other Sith for not being up to the task. He relishes the fact that he finally has an opportunity to prove himself against Jedi, and is determined to not let his master down.

Act 2 is starting: The goals of our two leads is to find a way to contact the Jedi Temple on Yavin 4 and warn them of an attack by a Sith fleet. Currently Jyn is taking Finn in her two-seater A-wing to meet an ally. By the way, her two-seater A-wing has a personality and talks. It's a little like C-3PO (except the computer, Elroy, is more pedantic than fearful and anxious).

Jyn’s A-wing approaching an ocean world. The craft speeds towards one of the larger islands, and lands on a small civilian spaceport. Jyn lands here because she has no time required for the red tape required for the security clearance of her new passenger, Dio (previously called Finn. It’s pronounced like in Dionysus, not the metal musician.)

Jyn contacts Kappa, an old friend, and asks that they meet at a favorite watering hole, the Safe Harbor. It’s informal, but it's the only way they can quickly get all three in a room talking.

(Finn has taken off his armor, and somehow has access to clothes that fit him. I can’t explain this part just yet. When I think about this stuff, I get like Abed in that one Halloween episode of Community, where they all tell ghost stories)

They meet at a table and introduce themselves. Commander Kappa, a dashing man with olive skin and dark hair in his 30s, starts:

“So, what will everyone be having? I’ll buy you all a round.”

“I’m afraid all three of us might need to be at full readiness for the next day at least. But we’d like to take you up on that at another time, if we could. It’s a shame, because I’d love nothing more than a Tatooine Sunrise.”

Jyn explains what happened, and the urgency with which they need to reach out to the Jedi Temple. She explains Dio’s role and why they can trust him.

Kappa is mildly skeptical. Jyn was wondering about this, but Kappa was not only her contact among the New Republic military, but a good friend. They’d fought in many battles together. But Kappa has always had a hard time trusting defectors, even though there were many in the loyal service of the New Republic.

“Where are you from, Dio?”

“Nar Shaddaa.”

At this, Kappa’s expression turns from skeptical to extremely war and on edge.

“Me too. The Empire really moved in on Nar Shaddaa during the chaos created after Jabba’s death. They brutally massacred my entire family, aunts, uncles, and cousins included, for the crime of being pro-Republic, as part of their quest to liberate the planet of crime and disorder. We’re lived there for generations. I learned to fight the Empire at an early age. Hard to imagine how someone from there just decides to don an Imperial uniform.”

At this, Dio looks uncomfortable. He feels ashamed, but he can think of nothing to say. His family was not just Imperial, but what was one of the leading Imperial families. His father, in fact, was an officer who gave the order for that very massacre that killed Poe’s family. Dio joined because he thought it was the right thing to do, and he wanted to see the galaxy. But the longer he served, the more he had doubts he had about what Empire and what it stood for.

Jyn steps forward in Dio’s defense, “We don’t get to choose how we’re raised. I know that better than anyone. What Dio did, the way he broke himself out of that level of indoctrination, is something very few beings in the galaxy can do. People need to be given a chance to prove themselves, and to make a difference. We both have to give him that; he’s committed himself this far, why would he go back now? “

Jyn decides to change the subject, “So, how’s Tallie doing? Last I heard, she was looking at a transfer to Wraith Squadron.”

“Yes, she did, and they accepted the application. But they insisted Tallie switch from A-wings to X-wings, and that was unacceptable for Tallie. Reminds me of someone else I know.”

“Like you’d give up your B-Wing for a Y-wing.”

“You’ve got me there. But Y-wings don’t have—”

At this, a warning klaxon breaks out.

“Well,” Jyn says, “This is earlier than I expected. Sounds like the work of some annoying noob Sith.”

They had for their craft, and blast out of the atmosphere. Yes, this was certainly not the time for drinks.

I'm trying to think of ideas for the next scene in my Episode VII. This will be an action scene.

I haven't really figured out one character beat yet. And, it's key to all of this. I also need to keep the plot moving forward so people will be where they need to be for the finale.
