What does your gut tells you regarding the idea that the Democrats will send someone else into the big 2024 race for ?

I see that some red lights in the party have turned on.

I see that some red lights in the party have turned on.

I think they'll follow their plans. I think their plans are as the tides ebb and flow, shall we say: "Fluid."
They will do as they're paid to do and like it.
If they are wise, they will follow the labor movement and support it.
They are up against gerrymandering, fascism and extinction. It shouldnt be a hard sell, but they'll have to reach people where they live.
They have to give people a real reason to show up and out vote the people who show up to vote every time trying to take more and more rights to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness from more and more people all while claiming to be patriots.
And a rebranding of feudalism isnt going to cut it.
Backing the labor movement seems to be the easiest way for them to inspire the most amount of people willing to get out and do the literal bare minumum for a better life and a future other than extinction.
They have to find a way to reach past generations of stockholm syndrome living a lie.
It can be done, everyone here knows something is wrong something is off.
But the dems have to figure out a way to reach past generations of indoctrination and a culturally induced fear of hellfire for asking questions.
They need to show they have something worth fighting for, living for, dying for. Like the right has convinced people it has even though it doesnt actually.
They need to choose the people over the "money" More and more people are realizing everything is made up and the democrats have to show the people they're willing to be real. And fight. It may all be a bad joke with conservatism and liberalism being nothing more than a smoke screen to keep the poor from realizing the rich are picking their pockets...but lots of voters are awful tangled up in the web of lies and invested in giving meaning to that which doesnt matter. Progress is the solution, enlightened self interest if nothing else. The dems need to be able to remind people what really matters, but they would have to know that themselves, and for the most part they're awful powerful distracted with all those perks of wealth and power.
If they are foolish, they will cling to the past dispite the things that served them in the old dying world wont serve them in the new.
Understanding is a three edged sword. Your version. Their version. And the truth.
Choices.
Choices.
Illusion?
Illusion?
I guess we'll just. See whether they notice the writing on the wall, or having noticed, will they understand?
Find out. Tonight at 11. Don't touch that dial.
The most important thing to remember.
The real "Don't Blink" of it:
Do not. Under any circumstance whatsoever give any indication that you've noticed them in the room with you. Just pretend that they're not there. It doesnt matter that you see them, and that you see everyone else seeing them too. What matters is that we all keep pretending not to notice them. They don't like being noticed. So Just keep pretending that they arent really there. Sometimes you'll even be able to feel like you used to before you started noticing them out of the corner of your eye, or when you wake up suddenly in the night. Or that persistant feeling of being observed. The most important thing is not to panic. Keep your wits about you, and if you ever notice your shadow looking at you or moving just a fraction of a second out of synch with you. No you didnt. We now return you to your regularly scheduled broadcast:

tl:tsctr: My gut tells me I'm inside the belly of a creature that somehow lives dispite being nothing more than a shared delusion, so I'm not actually certain it matters what democrat rn, outside of a literal miracle we've got bigger things to worry about than the flavor of what dem when the alternative seems to literally be a slide head first into authoritarianism and extinction. our seas are literally boiling and our people are dying thanks to the dark ages coming back en vogue. We'll just have to see what's going to be most fashionable for the season. A two tiered system really plays hell on the sanity of its prisoners lol.

What a total control freak. Like, any of this would fly in the general voting base regardless (even thought it looks like his chances are ebbing greatly). Where on earth did this guy come from?

Florida students will now be required to get their parents' consent before using a nickname in schools, a move that critics say targets the LGBTQ+ community and could extend well beyond.

In an email sent Tuesday morning, parents and guardians of Seminole County students were advised that school districts in the state are now "required to develop a form to obtain parental consent to use any deviation or nickname from the child's legal name in school."

"If you would like for your child to be able to use a name aside from their legal given name on any of our campuses, we will ask for you to complete the consent form titled 'Parental Authorization for Deviation from Student's Legal Name Form...."

The guy is totally submissive to every piece of human garbage the right has. I can't wait for the primaries.

Thank goodness. I felt like the wind was blowing that way, but it's nice to see it pan out.

He's from the part of the internet where you suck cock and then yell no homo and think it somehow makes him not a cock sucker.

I appreciate that. I think he's part of the evolutionary path and Trump is another iteration that's more intense in many ways. When Trump was in office it seemed like there was an strong attempt to rehabilitate Bush and it drove me crazy. I felt like I was living in a different reality than these people.

I was trying to remember this Chris Rock quote and dug it up. It dates back to 2015:

"As bad as George W. Bush was, he revolutionized the presidency. He was the first president who only served the people that voted for him. He ran the country like a cable network; he only catered to his subscribers. Obama's main fault is not realizing that's kind of what people want. That whole trying-to-make-everybody-happy thing is done. People who voted for him want him to do what Bush did. And whoever's the next president will do what Bush did."

People are still making assertions that have these unspoken implications that Trump has brought something new to the Republican party that didn't exist before. It gets under my skin.

Who are some of the ones you like the best?

Here I will answer you again since the youtube has thrown at me a random but pretty decent video about what I was talking.

You may not like the guy but you can have basic respect for the person because he appears to be sane. As I told you: if you have only two parties in the county then you can't really afford to have one going completely crazy and off the rails. Since in a sense that is like breaking a leg. The other leg can be as healthy as possible but it just wouldn't matter all that much. In other words this presentation sounds more like the right that I know it. Therefore if you want for US to have things going in a fashion that is closer to other developed countries this is how the right should sound. Since here you can see a person that seems to realize that we are in the 21th century. What is the absolute foundation that you can get anything done. Therefore just as I said in the previous reply: GOP seriously needs one big system update. Because no matter what they will govern large parts of the country and thus you need both of your leg healthy/functional. What can be only solved in the primaries, in general it is already too late.

I agree Christie sounds sane. The fact he ever supported Trump worries me, but whatever. At least he doesn't now (which sets him apart from the other GOP cowards). Nikki Haley sounded sane when I listened to her town hall as well. OTOH, Vivek Ramaswamy comes across as a full blown narcissistic sociopath, right down in the sewer with Trump and DeSantis.

But the problem seems to me the broader American public is just not listening to town halls and the like. They seem to be focused on sound bites from their preferred ratings driven media outlet. So it's all outrage and scandals and circuses (Trump indictments, Hunter Biden shenanigans etc.). Until the people want leaders who lead, rather than entertain, I don't see sanity returning.

PS> Re: your two party system can't have one going completely crazy remark. I agree. You also can't have one being completely incompetent. With two bad options, incompetence wins over insanity (at least Biden's policy makers seem generally sane), but its a poor choice either way.

I've got no respect for Christie -- a rotten governor (maybe the most rotten of all time) whose calls for "taking responsibility" strike an ironic note given how fast and easy he threw his aides into the fire for the bridge scandal he orchestrated
