I'm an INFJ and would definitely lean capitalist rather than socialist. Although maybe it's all comparative. I guess in the States things are more polarized. In Canada, a lot more people are somewhere in the middle and I'm just kind of a bit to the right of them.

On the other hand, I know another INFJ that I would say fits the socialist side of things more.

I'm not a socialist...I'm also business major. I don't have a problem with success I have a problem with excess at the expense of other people. I also don't think about it in terms of wide spread responsibility like government ect. For me it's more of a personal/local social responsibility. I don't think people who wan't alot of money are selfish it just not something I personally value. Money is necessary and it will award you many advantages but being rich for me is a superficial happiness. I just feel life has so much more to offer me than a fat wallet. Connecting with people, making a diffidence in someones life, leaving the earth a better place than it was when you came into it is just more important to me. I value money as a sense of security for myself my family and I hope I make enough of it in my lifetime to be able to live comfortably, retire and have some left over to pass down to my children so that they can do the same. In that sense I'm comfortable with earning my keep and I feel other should have to work to be afforded that luxury. By the same token I'll do what I can to help people who cannot afford the basics when I feel have more than I need.

I just don't like the idea of 1 personsitting on top of 99% of the food supply refusing to share with the starving people below because he/she earned it when they have more than they need and he/she could still live comfortably if they spread some of it around instead of watching them suffer and fight it out while they live it up lol

Anyway, I don't know if the generalizations in this thread thus far have been accurate. Two of the most "socialist" people I have ever met were INTJ and ENTJ. They had been effed over a lot of times in their lives socially and economically. My ISFJ ex-boyfriend was very "capitalist." He grew up in a wealthy, conservative, Southern family and picked up "capitalist" values. I think life experience and community values have so much to do with the formation of political views.

well working capitalism and socialism are both ideologies and not something that could really work out properly in the long run. my vote goes to socialism for the better ideology, simply because i think that people should care for others and not just about how much money their company can make, regardless of who has to pay for max profits.

Ok so I've noticed that so many NFJ types are socialists and don't really understand the concept of capitalism. It seems like if it were up to the NFJ types we would all be making the same amount of money and everything would be free. Why is it that so many NFJ's constantly think of people that want to get as much money as possible for themselves as "selfish"? What's up with that? I'm assuming it's the Fe?

I think that's kind of over-generalizing the INFJ personality. I'm not sure how many INFJs it took for you to come to your conclusion, but I know for myself that I'm for capitalism. I don't believe in government handouts. It would make the most sense to help people find jobs rather than teach them to be lazy by providing them with handouts funded by money that our nation doesn't possess or will possess at any time in the near future. I would think, as someone else had mentioned on this forum, that anti-capitalists would tend to be more of NFPs considering the J element of the NFJs personality would help them to be more deliberative; predicting possible obstacles further in advance in order to predict a realistic outcome whereas it seems that Perceivers are overall more known for making decisions on the spur of the moment.

It seems that I often hear of anti-capitalists being all about taking money from the private corporations without considering that it's usually the same private corporations that are making it possible for people of the middle-class to have jobs in the first place through the funding of their branches. Or, you have the other issue of raising minimum wage so in turn the smaller businesses can be put out of business if they don't currently possess the money to raise the salaries for all of their employees.

When people refer to capitalism in this way they do no service to capitalism and they heap up judgement on themselves.

Maybe NFJ's like socialism because it is both an 'ism' - a fixed system - AND a 'nice' system - one which seems to be 'fair' and to treat the underdog well. This suits both their J preference, and their F preference. As intuitives, also, they are naturally inclined towards finding ways to save the whole world, big picture, idealistic, and less aware of daily, practical realities that, maybe, would lean SFJ types towards a more capitalist view?

The INFJ I know best, though, is not a socialist at all and is quite tough on people. High expectations.

I'm not sure you can generalise anything about typology in general, well actually you can, it just can't be proven outside of heuristics.

Even then it is likely to be a selective bias.

There was some survey comparing 2010 perceptions of republicans to 2012 perceptions of republicans, and the Tea Party has swung it right off the rails of sanity.
