I did skim through an article that suggested that the leaking might have been done by a Republican. Evidently John Roberts wanted to protect abortion rights and he was trying to convince other justices to side with him, and making it public made it impossible for him to do so.

Exactly. I said that at the very beginning too - it wasn't some lib staffer. I'm also a little iffy on Roberts doing some 11th hr push. At least as much as has been claimed.

Actually this wasn't that hard to predict as an outcome. In other words some people forgot who votes right in the USA. Many of these people are independents that aren't in favor of getting things to radical. There is also A LOT of white women in the mix, that by decent part don't want to give up their abortion rights. Younger people often aren't for the return of such "old school policies". Libertarians are likely to see this as pushing the whole government thing too far.

So all in all this isn't that unexpected and I am pretty sure similar things will happen in most of other states (if there is some vote on this). While if it isn't that could also turn out to be a problem in some places.
