A part of me will always wonder what sequel trilogies we could have gotten without the obsession with the original cast...

This shit was written by whales or manatees or something.

Manatees are extremely ethical writers...

Part of me wishes they’d pulled a TNG and set it a clean 100 years after A New Hope. Enough to clean the narrative and character slate but you could still believe it was a part of the same universe and overall story.

Welp, the finale for Obi-Wan is out.

My son and I watched it together. We enjoyed it more than other episodes but were not expecting much and we still had more than enough fun heckling the stupid parts and yelling at the screen during more badassery parts.

I have to say that Vader must have been laughing his ass off at Luke in TESB, as his kid was trying so hard and thought he had undergone decent Jedi training but it's clear the kid was still just a kid. Vader was holding back the entire time based on what we see here.

Specific comments about the episode in spoilers:

Fallen Order still did the dark times era better than any other Disney era production has yet done. In terms of the overall vibe and scope, the sense of hopelessness, the visual decay of the remnants of the old republic, everything. I'm not sure why it's been so impossible to achieve something close to that with Rebels, Solo, and now Kenobi. It's a shame because I most wanted to see more of this particular era filled in. I really hope they revisit Cal's story or at least do a similar story focused on other jedi-in-hiding.

It's just telling when video games are outpacing film and TV in just about every aspect of storytelling and connecting with audiences. SW probably being one of the best examples--a franchise with a spotty record for video games; yet with just about everything produced since Disney took over, the video games and comics are probably the few good things now coming out of the SW franchise, while most of the rest ranges from bad to average.

For almost every popular series or film now, there is a superior story in the same genre on video game.

Knees. Obi Wan and Anakin have them. It's an interesting observation that the worse your knees get with age, the less jedi leap fighting you should do. It's good the show runners acknowledge this.

Well, it would be necessary to keep it consistent with what's been established. Anyway, I still haven't gotten that far in the series.

Everything always works out exactly as it should in Star Wars, because it's star wars. the star wars dm is very permissive into the rule of cool.
Indeed, rule of cool is very important in Star Wars. Which is why I roll my eyes at people doing things like complaining about bombs falling in space (you mean like they did in the Original Trilogy?)

So far the buzz about Kenobi here has not been super-great. I haven't been super-impressed with it so far, but I don't hate it. I'm two episodes in.

The Inquisitors do seem rather dumb.

Also I was somewhat bothered by just how much like her adult self Leia was, but I think I might being a little unfair because preciousness was part of the character from the beginning, being an 18 year old Senator and all.

There are only two things you need to do to use the force: Let go and let the force flow through you. And do or do not. A good inquisitor cant afford to let anything go, and the Sith believe that to succeed, one must first try...so narratively speaking...they're kinda fucked by design. The red light sabers mean they don't win.

When they land on a planet, why does it always have breatable air, favorable temperature and pressure and no harmful microbes? Did they terraform all the planets in the vicinity?

So many alien life forms and they can all live in the same habitat without any need for protective gear?

Whenever they want to lock a door, they just shoot at the control panel?

What would happen if they threw fast projectiles at a jedi instead of lasers like a gatling gun?

So many hazardous workplaces?

Edit: What would happen if there was flammable gas around and the Jedi turned on the lightsaber?

They keep shooting Star Wars movies/series as if they were spagetti westerns.

I wish someone would undertake to make a more realistic, darker movie that would push the jedi/sith to the background a bit. It's like everything revolves around jedi/sith and all other invidiuals and characters do not have any agency in the world. You either have to be Sith or Jedi to have an impact on the world?

Technically the inquisitors are not Sith.

Technically there's more than one dysfunctional family in the galaxy...but that isn't what Star Wars is. Also Technically the Sith aren't Sith and haven't been for a long time. Technically the rule of two is more of what you might call "guidelines" than actual rule. Technically there's only one reason to make droids feel(especially fear and doubt and pain) then subjugating them on a galactic scale. Also technically the book of Boba fett is technically season 2.5 of the Mandalorian...And also also finally, technically the possibility of successfully navigating an asteroid field is approximately 3,720 to 1. Yet here we are...

It's not the best space story in the library...but its got disney marketing.
So come on down to Crazy Luke's Used Droids. Where prices are so low you'll think the staff has been mind tricked.
