Okay, I'm gonna describe myself as best I can:

where to begin? I'm very daydreamy, always making up fantasies in my head, usually based on a game, film or premise I'm interested in at the time. Obviously always with myself as the main character. My daydreams aren't often jumping around and manic like a typical Ne user, but more focused on a single idea I'm fascinated by and will entertain until I'm bored by it. Then i'll go back to looking for another interesting topic or focal point.
I'm usually not really paying much attention to the outside world, pretty much living inside my head. In fact, its quite a big problem which interferes with school work. My friends always catch me midway through a daydream with vacant eyes which seem to stare off into nothing. I can seem pretty stupid but only because im not paying attention to anything, and i end up looking like I didn't understand something I just plain wasn't listening to. Although, that's not to say I can't live in the moment when I want to, I actually think its refreshing to take in everything around me sometimes. But my usual state is one of detachment from the outside world, with occasional gaps of strong awareness of the outside world.
I'm somewhat prone to disliking people In charge of me for no real reason. Even if they're incredibly nice, the fact that they're telling me what to do makes them seem aggressive and bossy which I despise. As a result I also hate being in charge, although that could also be because I hate responsibility and other people relying on me.
I'm definitely introverted and pretty shy. Seemingly increasingly so since I was a child. When im with people I dont know at all, or with lots of people, im almost completely silent, too scared to say anything. When im with friends I usually put on somewhat of a act, in which im a louder, goofier version of myself. Only with very close friends and family can I be my true self. A kind of mixture between my loud goofy self and quiet, shy self.
Despite this, I dont have much trouble making friends and im well liked at school. I think that's probably because I smile a lot and im not really threatening. I've also noticed that I tend to take in the emotions of the people I care about. If they're sad, im sad. If they're happy it cheers me up etc.
Hmmmm, what else is there to say? I have major procrastination and laziness issues and I dislike responsibility . I guess that's pretty much all I can think of right now. What type do you think I am?

INFP.

I was thinking INFP, and when I read about your resentment toward authority ("I'm somewhat prone to disliking people In charge of me for no real reason"), which indicates inferior Te, I knew it.

"I've also noticed that I tend to take in the emotions of the people I care about" indicates INFP or ISFP, in your case it's INFP. If you were an INFJ you would be more like the quote in my sig, taking in vibes from the environment around you like a dominant perceptive (Ni dominant in that case).

'I actually feel that no one is truly "healthy" anyway, but there are simply degrees of unhealthiness.' INFP statement.

Okay, so I'm probably INFP, ISFP, INFJ or ISFJ then. Any information I could give to single out the correct type?

Functions.

Ni Se could be INFJ or ISFP

Si Ne could be INFP or ISFJ

Finding Te vs Ti and Fe vs Fi could help a lot

I think I display more Fe behaviours, but that's because I don't understand Fi all that well. As for Te and Ti, well I have no idea which one of those I have a preference for.

Fe goes with Ti, Fi with Te.

Te is about organization, efficiency, accepted knowledge, etc.

Ti is internal, logic, true/false; finding small errors in stated truths, etc.

Te is great at taking tools and interacting with them in the world. Te users like to appeal to authority, finding truth externally.

But since they work with Fe and Fi.....

Fi is finding value internally. A Fi dom or aux will speak with Te though, so a Fi user might make value judgments but they might sound like reasonable things.

Fi is about finding right and wrong internally.

Ex: my ENTJ friend had a very rough childhood and was beaten regularly by his father and step mother, berated constantly. He says it never bothered him because he had a strong core of his own value.

His ESTP brother was wrecked for life by this treatment, drugs, alcohol, felony charges, etc, because he has Fe in his stack. This abuse destroyed him.

Fi users reference empathy by looking into themselves first to try and find a corresponding emotion. Fe users can experience it more directly.

A Ti user will take reason and find holes and error, inconsistency, and incongruity. This really can bother Fi/Te users who hate the precise logic of Ti which can really put Deathstar sized holes in Te logic.

And since Ti users speak with Fe, it really bothers Te/Fi users when Ti/Fe users do this.

ENTP is called the lawyer type for a reason, with Ti and Fe in service of Ne, they can twist and turn and out argue many, leaving Fi/Te feeling violated at times.

This is especially true for Fi doms and auxs. They can't express their values as well, those feelings are down deep and powerful. Using Te to express those feelings is awkward and difficult and sounds irrational and harsh to Fe ears.

Fe cares about group values, and is attuned to the feeling and dynamics of the group. I can sense emotions around me easily. When I am "on", I talk knowing the right words to say without thinking about it. People trust me for no apparent reason. I exude a confidence I don't have and do so without trying to do so. People believe my words, not that I lie, but they have faith in it.

Fe and Fi doms and auxs are both usually pretty sensitive and seem to have difficult childhoods, but that isn't required. Fe doms and auxs can get into co-dependency pretty easily and have bad boundaries.

I hope that helps a little

I'm definitely starting to think I'm INFJ. Except for the fact that I'm disorganised and not driven at all in life. Which, unless I'm mistaken, is not the attitude of an INFJ. They're rarer than all the other types, so its also far more likely I'm not one.

INFJ can be disorganized. I have seen them called the messiest J, in large part because they are so in their mind and abstract world between Ni and Fe.

Don't worry about rarity, just see if it really fits....

I've been researching cognitive functions, and it seems as though I could be an INFP or ISFP. However I'm not completely sure, how does dominant Fi actually work?

I am not a Fi dom, but here is my two cents.

Fi doms are primarily focused internally for their sense of right and wrong. Whether it be favorite color or who they love or whether that idea is right or anything else, it is internal.

Fi doms have a strong ability to relate to others on a one on one level because they can find similar emotions deep inside themselves. They are very sensitive. There is a huge depth of feeling for Fi doms.

I would suggest reading up on Fi in the many threads here. We do have a number of Fi doms active as well.

But most important is sitting with your emotions and exploring them, which I understand is a bit harder for ISFPs than INFPs, due to lack of Ne copilot.

The way you described yourself in your OP. What you are saying is very F but the language you use/way in which you describe it seems detached to me. Sorry, I can't give you more than that. It was an immediate sense.
