I'm cool with my body the way it is.
I would go with BF% over BMI any day, although that's not always accurate either. I have the body fat of an athlete apparently but the truth is that I'm just scrawny lol.
Do they? I didn't know that but I guess it makes sense. Must be why all my mom's Viet friends think I'm part Asian ahaha.
I thought man average was 5"7 so you're pretty up there!
I'm an ectomorph so nothing sticks really. I eat a lot of protein but muscle isn't something I can easily build. Which is fine too.I have become quite scrawny as I have had muscle wasting over the Christmas period. Drinking and lounging around.
Average height depends on your ethnicity as well. So, I am actually only average height![]()
Glad to see some posts on the misleading information regarding BMI. I work in a doctor's office that's part of a nationally-recognized hospital. We treat bariatric patients that get referred from a weight management center. All of the providers have to abide by the standard of BMI to determine a patient's ideal weight. Everything is controlled by insurance companies. It's absolutely nonsensie and it continues to teach people to rely on a method that has already been debunked. It's similar to saying muscle weighs more than fat... Anyway.
I'm very petite (5'0") and skinny but still muscular because I exercise regularly and do a lot of strength training. I love weights. I still do cardio but can't do too much because I lose weight quickly. I'm very fortunate to have a fast metabolism and know a great deal about health/ nutrition in general but at the same time, it becomes incredibly hard to gain weight, even if all I eat is fattening food or high calories (tried it once and I only gained 2 lbs in a month). This is overlooked of course. Most people I've talked to about it just say "Omg you just need to eat a cheeseburger!". I understand the lose-weight" mentality is ingrained at an early age and of course society feeds on that, but it's still frustating for me at times.
I think the only thing I would change is my flat chest (I have less than a 30AA). I've been self-concious about it for a while and would love to have a decent breast size (a small B would suffice). I've grown to love my body so much though. It's healthy, it functions, it endures, and it's strong. I'm very grateful.
Most people I've talked to about it just say "Omg you just need to eat a cheeseburger!" and I want to punch them in the face(lol).
My ESFP friend is naturally thin and petite. When she was a bartender she got this all the time. Seriously, a couple times a day sometimes! and it really bothered her. It is just rude to comment on someone's weight unless they ask for feedback.

I am 10lbs past obese according to bmi, not just over weight. When I am at the overweight mark I have a six pack. It's a retarded measurement system.
Absolutely. It's rude and uncalled for. It's like they think because we're skinny and we are what society considers "ideal" they can just say things like that with no care whatsoever about the person they are directing to. Hmm..no, you don't know what that person's struggle has been in their lives with their weight and even if you do, you have no right to make such comments. More often that not, those are the same people that don't realize that just because a person is skinny it does not mean they are healthy or that all large people are overweight and unhealthy because they are lazy.
Actually you might be surprised at how different the male ideal of a female body is from how women view themselves (and presume men do).
I posted an image on here a few days ago to show this. Men actually, it seems, by and large don't find very skinny women to be the most attractive...something I can affirm personally. My pet theory on why this is is that a woman with no breasts and visible abs seems sexually ambiguous, so these are features which to the reptilian parts of our brains, imply your hormones are out of kilter and hence that you have low fertility.
The ideal woman for a man seems to actually be much closer to a plus-sized model, around a size 12. A rounder face, strongly defined hips and breasts, an ass which is not rock hard, and a bit of stomach fat. Basically - sexual dimorphism. We don't want to date ourselves and are curious about how the ladies are different to us.
What I meant by society was not what a male actually considers ideal, rather the (usually photo shopped) really thin, large-breasted women you see in countless magazines, movies, commercials, etc.
It's a really unrealistic view of women that society imposes, considering the average woman (in America at least) is a size 14.

It can change your world when you have a lot of Asians going to the petite section of the store you work at and asking for double zeroes or that lucky find of seeing two white girls at once want to try on size fours, not saying this is suitable information to generalize for the rest of women, but there are definitely skinny people out there.
It's good to know that beauty shouldn't be so objective but it's how it is and you'd be surprised on there's a lot of men who aren't as picky either.
I may be shallow, but not all of my brothers are.
I really like my body.![]()
