Who is your favorite James Bond?

Which portrayal of James Bond is your favorite? Personally, I love them all, but I would pick Dalton, with Moore as a close second.

Timothy Dalton is an unconventional choice but I found him the most believable and relatable. Had he done another two or three films, I think he would be regarded more highly by fans. Moore was silly Bond, but he kept the series going and without someone with that charisma, the series would have fizzled out by the mid seventies

I always thought Pierce Brosnan seemed to embody all the qualities of what the Bond character was meant to be. He just seemed a very natural fit for the role, imo.

I think as a book reader I was spoiled, Brosnan wasn't at all like the book Bond.

Lol. I hated Brosnan as a choice when fans of Remington Steele suggested him for Bond and then I pretty much checked out for four films when he was tapped. I think the only Bond films I haven't seen were ones that Brosnan was in, although I did watch most of Goldeneye and another one.

I think as a book reader I was spoiled, Brosnan wasn't at all like the book Bond.

Glad I’m not the only one. He always seemed like diet Bond to me. Goldeneye was good though. I think they wrote that one thinking Dalton might be back for one more. It feels way different from the other Brosnan films

In fairness, he did do a good job of balancing the best aspects of Connery, Moore and Dalton, but he never really owned it and made it his own role. The others all did that, with the exception of Lazenby who never had the chance to escape Connery’s shadow

Daniel Craig is the best one in my opinion. I'd vote for Sean Connery as the second favorite. After that, I would probably say Roger Moore but the Pierce Brosnan movies were better. I've just been watching a bunch of Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig Bond movies over the last few weeks in prep for the release of the new movie coming out.

Yeah, I thought Dalton was good. IMHO it would have been nice if he had gotten to do one more movie circa 1992, perhaps about the breakup of the Soviet Union and the fate of the nuclear arsenals in some of the constituent countries.

Daniel Craig ugghhh the first time he took the stage as bond i was enthralled. Going to watch the premier at a charity function tomorrow and I cant wait!

I can honestly say (and I grew up with Roger Moore) that Daniel Craig is my favorite, followed by Connery and Moore.

I do not get behind the rumblings of Tom Hardy as the next Bond. I don't care about Venom, don't care about Bane, don't care about various war films. Please just give me more of that Taboo on FX because I liked that.

My son and I just rewatched the four Craig Bonds (to prep for tomorrow night), and Quantum of Solace is honestly one of the worst of all Bond films. Uninspiring plot, flat characters, piss-poor editing that makes almost all the action sequences unwatchable, even the plane sequence is ruined because there is no way the parachute opened in time to save them. It might have well have never been released. I kind of admire they tried to do some kind of unexpected plotline but it never really clicks.

Out of those four Craig Bonds, Skyfall and Casino Royale are the great ones, and Specter is okay but struggles to really become a good movie... it looks gorgeous as far as the cinematography but nothing quite clicks in to really vault the film into 'great' status... a lot of effort that just never quite gets there, the issues are with story (not acting). It also looks worse coming right after Skyfall.

I've only seen two of Brosnan's films and don't remember much of them (although Goldeneye was the best of them), and it's been years since I've seen anything from the earlier runs but Moonraker... which is a silly film but kind of enjoyable on that campy level. Goldfinger and On Her Majesty's Secret Service are the ones I found most memorable.

I’ve been seeing peoplegiving QoSa second chance lately, but I just don’t get it. It’s the shortest bond film, and yet the fact that it drags and just has terrible pacing says a lot (whereas I find the long OHMSS to feel brisk despite being one of the series’s longest). I remember it being touted as a continuation of Casino Royale, which got me hyped, only to be massively let down. it feels like better editing and better scripting really could have made all the difference.

if you look past the third act and sight gags like pidgeons doing double takes, Moonraker is really quite good. It’s got some of the best cinematography in the series too. I like how Moore Bond played the role more as a globe trotting inspector with a high profile. He doesn’t even bother with aliases and disguises most of the time.


Goldeneye was actually written when they thought Dalton was returning. It does show and it feels different from the other Brosnan films. Playing to the Dalton era strengths kind of like Moore trying to play a harder edged Bond a la Connery in Live and Let Die. It took Moore and Brosnana film or two each to really find their own version of the character—Craig and Dalton were lucky and each nailed it on their first goes. Of course Connery nailed it right away too, but he had th luck of coming first and not having another actor’s shadow hanging over him
