It drives me nuts that no one is going to ask him to explain what "their debt" is, or provide receipts for his claims. We have two realities that each side wholly believes because all it takes is someone making vague claims on social media to incite blind outrage. Both sides do it, but only one side does it with bombastic lies.

Far-right messaging is heavily predicated upon its audience taking things at face value while also not doing any sort of independent fact checking. They've learned that they can basically just talk out of their asses and that their constituency will never hold them accountable because it's all confirmation bias for them anyway. This whole Nancy Pelosi is responsible spin on the Capitol insurrection has got to be the most blatant outright lie I've ever seen, yet these people will eat it up.

Also Kevin McCarthy may be one of the biggest pieces of human garbage to ever exist.

Rudy Giuliani Is Reportedly Almost Broke And Trump's Shutting Him Out

I don't get how they all persist in the BS while knowing full well when one of them is exposed or fails, the others will turn on them or abandon them.

It's an inherently cynical approach to governing /politics.

The only reason I can think of is that they all inhabit that same alternate reality. They are also irresistible drawn to some kind of daddy/authoritarian figure, consciously or subconsciously, especially if they had religious upbringing. Or they just really are fucking stupid as all get out.

Yeah^, I imagine it's not strategy so much as unconscious gravitation. Like plants growing towards light. Except instead of light, it's some weird pathological craving (for significance maybe?) that gets sated by being in the orbit of people who get away with excessive displays/abuses of power. Like the way addicts never think about all the bad things that are guaranteed to happen as a consequence of the next hit, all they can think about is how good the hit feels/is going to feel.

...The excerpts described Melania's response to the Capitol riot as a last straw that pushed Grisham to resign from the White House. Grisham was the first top Trump administration official to resign after the insurrection.

According to Politico's report, the book said that as rioters stormed the Capitol on January 6, Grisham texted Melania to ask, "Do you want to tweet that peaceful protests are the right of every American, but there is no place for lawlessness and violence?"

"No," the first lady replied, according to the report.

According to Politico, the book also said Melania backed her husband's claims that the 2020 election had been stolen from him, which was her reason for not inviting Jill Biden to the White House for the traditional Inauguration Day tea...

I can't even fathom why any working person would ever vote this way.

(I know your incredulity is rhetorical, not trying to answer 'why' here so much as similarly express abject incredulity).

In Washington Times (and which I - with absolutely no inclination towards the current GOP - got from my Fb feed, in spite of this ubiquitous "shadow-banning") :‘They’ are controlling you. ‘They’ are silencing you.
Despite what I considered pallid content, my article immediately jumped to “trending” status on several news sources such as The Hill, Facebook, Apple News and the like. In fact, it was number three (I think) when I first saw it on one of my news feeds.
But then something peculiar happened. The article just inexplicably disappeared from all the trending lists. It didn’t gradually lose traction. It was just gone. It was featured one second, but then it literally just disappeared. A mere mist. Dust in the wind. Popular and trending one minute and nonexistent the next.
I was confused, so I contacted The Washington Times to let them know all the above. Their response? “You’ve been shadow-banned. Every article we’ve published on natural immunity has received the same.”
If this doesn’t frighten you, your mind is addled and dull. I don’t care if you’re conservative or progressive, a constitutionalist, a libertarian, an independent or an apolitical pragmatist, this story should worry you more than all the COVID-19 articles you’ve read combined.
They (whoever “they” are) decide what you can read and what you cannot. “They” are controlling the information and the news. “They” determine what articles will “trend” and what articles will be trashed. “They” are in charge. “They” manage the ideas. “They” will not permit anyone to read anything of which they disapprove. “They” are watching you. “They” are censoring you. “They” are silencing you. “They” are canceling you. “They” won’t even let you write something about the scientific facts of natural immunity. Say something “They” don’t like and you, my friend, are verboten.
Let that sink in for a minute or two. Sift it around a bit. Consider its import before you simply move on to the next mind-numbing blurb on your smartphone.
In his book, “Selling Hitler: Propaganda and the Nazi Brand,” Nicholas O’Shaughnessy argues that the success of Nazi ideology can only be understood via the role of propaganda in the Third Reich. The Nazis, he says, understood the modern techniques of opinion-formation. Joseph Goebbels, who was appointed to be the Minister of Propaganda and Public Enlightenment of Nazi Germany, once declared: “There are two ways to [control people]. You can blast your enemy with machine guns until he acknowledges the superiority of those holding the [weapons]. That is one way. Or you can transform the nation through a revolution of the spirit [i.e., the mind].” In other words, you can control people with bullets and bombs, but you can do so even more effectively by manipulating the news they hear and the books they read. Hitler’s chief architect, Albert Speer, admitted as much when he told the Nuremberg Tribunal “what distinguished the Third Reich from all previous dictatorships was its use of all the means of communication to sustain itself and to deprive its objects of the power of independent thought.”

No clear enemy here. "They" aren't government, but if you don't let your abstract rage consume you about putting a piece of fucking cloth over your mouth - and if you don't direct this rage at the political party who happens to endorse masks (even though, reminder, it's *not* the government "cancelling" you, it's simply other people who own the media exercising their own freedom*) then we WILL end up like Nazi Germany!

:fullload::krusty::hideyhole:

*Can't stress this enough: *not* the government.

All these Trump administration horror stories are dumb when you realize that all of these people are such sycophantic grifters that, despite realizing this person abused their power for their own personal gain, while also having almost no care for the welfare of the country as a whole, still continue to kiss his ass and promote his talking points on the few shameless mainstream media outlets that still give them a platform. Most of them have admitted to voting for him in 2020 in spite of witnessing first hand perhaps the biggest shitshow of an administration in the history of this country.

Secret IRS Files Reveal How Much the Ultrawealthy Gained by Shaping Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Tax Cut†— ProPublica

Drain the swamp indeed.

The Dems are a lot of things but they are at least attempting to help regular people. The GOP sub humans - I can't even fathom why any working person would ever vote this way.
Because government doing absolutely anything, even if it is a net benefit to its citizenry, is socialism and therefore bad, without needing to even listen to the merits of what's being proposed. Republican politicians campaign on telling people government is bad, then once elected show them exactly why it is so bad.

Maricopa County: Draft of Cyber Ninjas election review says Biden won

While I hate to even entertain legitimizing this sham of an audit, it is hilarious that despite how partisan this was in nature, it still proved Trump to be a colossal loser, losing by even more votes than Maricopa County reported.

All this is and all this ever was meant to be was a grift, with the underlying intent of sowing doubt in the integrity of our elections. All the poor right-wing voters thought this was going to be their ace in the hole in seeking vindication for what they were led to believe was a stolen election, and yet even now they'll only double down harder and continue to reject reality.

Now, let's all watch as they adjust the goal posts in real time while figuring out the next conspiracy that will expose everything, and all they need to bring the libs to justice is your donation dollars!

This is from the same people going on about Trump Derangement Syndrome for the past 4 years, naturally, but it is evident by now that Republicans don't have an ounce of self-awareness.

The fake audit may have inadvertently affirmed Biden's victory in Arizona but that won’t matter because “the election was stolen” is an ideological belief about the proper order of things, and not a factual claim.

The entire thing is bizarre. I don't think I understood just how strongly confirmation bias affects people's thinking. It seems to override all manner of facts or reason.

It's well beyond conformation bias. They live in an alternative reality that's just as real to them as the reality you and I live in. That's why intelligence, education, past experience doesn't matter - I think these people have some kind psychosis.

Of course they have psychosis, their whole culture came to a dead end and they just have to deal with it (and most of them can't).

Debts, lost wars, de-industrialization, demographic and cultural changes, climate change, COVID ... etc. Conservative mind is fairly static by definition and this is a lot to take even if your aren't a conservative. What then leads into a psychotic brake-down and "imagination".

That's what makes all this right-wing populism so dangerous -- all it serves to do is gaslight and instigate tension amongst these people while not only not providing any legislation that would materially improve these people's lives, but actively voting against their interest in the favor of corporate entities while crying from the mountain tops about the dangers of liberalism/socialism and the boogie men "coastal elites".

It's all just a grift by the politicians who seek to actively hurt the people that support them.

I just don't see any viable way we can come back from this as a country without things getting much worse before they have any sort of chance of getting better.

Sure, which leads people to think conservatives simply have a confirmation bias and not a mental break with reality. However, until every right wing loon stops getting all the oxygen they want to suck up, this is where we are. Discussing this in a general way is one thing. Giving these people unlimited time and coddling for their behaviors and shit views is another and it amazes me that anyone is still walking around going - I can't believe these people <insert thing>. How much more proof does anyone need about what is happening?

Until US conservative ideology dies like it should and moderate liberals (who will be the ones responsible for the end of this country ultimately) wake the fuck up, it's going to get worse.

Assuming this is real (I'm not willing to go to his site to check), the little pig man is referring to the POTUS election as insurrection. Because the vast majority of American people voted for someone else.

When people were saying this would happen, about a year into his presidency, I truly thought they were being alarmist. It's not that I gave him much credit - he'd already proven he was a mentally deranged, pathological liar. But I never dreamed so many people could be so fucking stupid and/or psychopathic enough to enable this. It's so depressing.
