What do the colors mean? (Red, pink, grey, blue, dark blue)

Aren't you American ?

Anyway: blue are places that are likely to go the democrats, while red are places that are likely to go to the republicans. The darker the shade it is more likely that this party will win there. Gray means that there are no elections there in this cycle.

No I am not.

They should do a population transfer between east and west, relocating all democrats to the eastern half of USA and the republicans to the western half. They should then divide USA in to two distinct countries, Democratia in the East and Republica in the West, so that everyone can live according to their own ideals.

If democrats are born in the Republica, they should be expelled to Democratia and vice versa to keep the respective populations homogenous and happy.

Funny, I had the same idea once.
It isn't going to happen but perhaps it would solve some things. Although this divide basically already exists in Urban/Rural sphere. But that is still pretty mixed up and isn't a real segregation.

Was going to say, but VG beat me to it, that people already tend to self segregate into rural and urban areas based on political views.

I think a temporary solution would be to split up some of the larger states such as Texas and California. There’s a lot of “red” areas of California and a lot of concentrated “blue” areas of Texas, for instance. These are basically nation sized areas at the moment and therefore difficult to administer as mere states/provinces. Each could easily be split into three or more smaller and more easily manageable states.

Even a smaller state like Virginia could probably be split into two or three zones. South central and western tip of Virginia is a radically different culture from that of northern Virginia, greater Richmond area, and the Virginia Beach region. In fact, western panhandle is a lot closer to West Virginia or eastern Tennessee, culturally. Northeastern VA has become a lot closer to the mid Atlantic culture of DC, urban Maryland and New Jersey.

How about this?

There should not be any elections so as to prevent populism.

Government's job should be to regulate and optimize the system as efficiently as possible towards keeping crime rates, unemployment and poverty low and economy and budget stable and towards minimizing social tension and conflict, irrespective of ideologies.

Personality requirements for each government position should be defined to suit the task, then citizens who are deemed most fit for each position should be evaluated and appointed to those positions for 5 year terms.

Efficiency of the system should be measured continuously and policies should be adjusted or fine-tuned accordingly. AI should be used to facilitate decision making in this regard and to enable long term planning and monitoring. Problems to be tackled should be prioritised based on their potential impact on the goals defined, and resources allocated accordingly.

To minimize social tension, people in cities can be segregated into different urban accommodation areas/neighbourhoods thematized to suit their preferred lifestyle (such as right-wing and left-wing anarchists, socialists, traditionalists, environmentalists etc), and may come together in other common neighbourhoods for entertainment, trade or work purposes. They may be allowed to do their own policing in their own neighbourhoods, according to their own needs and demeanor. So the neighbourhoods may have more internal autonomy whereas the government might have more imposing force in the common areas.

Common living neighbourhoods with more strict regulations might be set up for couples, or individuals with kids.

Education system should not teach ideologies but should strive to increase the critical thinking and judgment capacity of each individual and allow them to draw up their own conclusions and to make their own choices, within the broader confines set by the system in alignment with the goals in the first paragraph.

There might also be a free PvP zone set for people who are not satisfied by the confines of the system, which they may choose to move to.

People should be made to choose among available jobs suited to their strong skills and paid salaries at the same rate depending on the hours worked. Salary multipliers may be defined for jobs that carry more personal or societal risk with respect to others or depending on individual performance among peers.

Self-esteem drives (competition, domination, acceptance, profit etc.) of different personality types will need to be factored into the jobs and job allocation somehow so that people can feel fulfilled.

Are you talking about a technocracy?

Edward Bellamy wrote in 1888 this book called Looking backwards, telling about the society and governance in the year 2000, which resembles a utopian socialist model adopted by all world governments.

His concepts are similar to what I've mentioned:
-Meritocratic society where everyone is given semi-flexible career paths according to their strong traits, given further ranks based on their long term performance (I guess the outstanding ones are elected for official governance positions)
-Everyone is paid the same salary
-Working hours reduced, those with high risk jobs work less
-People with disabilities or redundant skills are also given easy tasks to do, and get paid the same salary as others
-Debit cards are used for payments
-Live music is broadcast to homes using telephone lines.
-Wealth accumulation has become disadvantageous somehow and people are fine with that?
-Central stores have branches having more or less the same selection of goods with fixed prices, no bargaining is done.
-Goods are delivered to homes thru a pneumatic tube network.
-All production is done by the state.
-Unnecessary spending by world governments are discouraged.

Still listening to its audibook on youtube, almost halfway through. He fails to mention how people are not discontented with that government system, as it does not allow for free market.

Funny thing is the book when published triggered some 40 more books written till 1906 by other authors in response to Bellamy's imagined future government system.

The senate majority leader is doing something. Under the Gop's desk every night... instead of doing his fucking job.

This perfectly illustrates my primary beef with the Democratic party. Whenever they get into power, they don't treat this stuff as urgently as they tell me it is when it's time for them to get re-elected. They waffle about and put on a big show of being feckless and incapable. How about actually throwing everything you have at stuff like this? Act as though this matter as of grave importance as stopping progressive primary challengers. (The fact that they don't do this is why I don't think their eagerness to do so is just a matter of pragmatic electability. To me those folks don't represent a more pragmatic, cautious approach to progress but rather a very clever way of obstructing it that lots of people fall for.)
