Said it before and I'll say it again. Porn insecurity drives the right. Whatever culture war issue they're "fighting" can be directly tied to the kind of porn they watch and like to project that they're definitely not watching/wanking to...It would be funny, even cute, if they didnt cause actual harm to real people.
Oh for sure. How many of these right wing shit stains do you see warning parents about groomers? That turn out to be child molesters and child porn enthusiasts? All. The. Time. I am 100% sure that every ultranationalist right wing Nazi jacks off to trans and gay porn. Kind of like how the manosphere that only eat meat. And take copious amounts of human growth hormone but that's besides the point. Every accusation is a confession is very true in these cases.

The thing I have to keep in mind is just how insulated and shielded from anything pertaining to the rest of the word. Their families, friends, social groups, school - all revolve around their churches and the church makes sure to feed the fear people have. It always makes me think of that scene in Season 1 of True Detective.

This is such a heartbreaking story.

Also...as soon as she said the boys would visit John Money without the parents present, I already knew they were being sexually abused by him. When she said they visited alone, I was just like, "ERR--Nope, I bet they were abused." Sure enough, a bit later on in the story, she says it.

Something I personally observed from this story was how there was a dysfunctional core value that permeated the family and deepened the problems in their affairs: silence. The entire family hid the truth from David, and David also hid the truth within him from everyone. The positive and healthy core value of speaking up; speaking out; asserting your own personal boundaries, feelings, thoughts, and desires; was entirely absent, and that is probably one of the other main catalysts behind what would ultimately transpire into David's psychological collapse. John Money's inexorable experimentation on David's gender was undeniably pernicious, but if the family esteemed honesty, transparency, and open communication, it's possible that David might've managed to derive a greater sense of satisfaction from his life. David himself claimed that if he had not been silent, these events would never have eventuated. This story demonstrates the way silence can literally kill.

Jordan Peterson is yet one more example of a literal genius that moves against the grain while society tears him down for his ideas. People did the same to Einstein, Isaac Newton, and so many other geniuses throughout history. Why are people this way?

I'm not insinuating that he's always right. Jordan Peterson is obviously wrong sometimes, which he openly acknowledges ad nauseum. However, there are numerous concepts and ideas that he shares which should be serving as an impetus for everyone to avail of the stimulation for critical thinking and growth that his insights offer to society.

If society abided by a few specific differences in its values than it currently does, people would make efforts to communicate on more neutral grounds in a manner that utilizes an effective filtration process. By all means, approach any information from any source with some degree of skepticism, research, and critical thought. Doing this would ideally result in amalgamating the different perspectives, and the end result would be an improved and reinforced construct that benefits all participants in the conversations.

In the previous paragraph, I mentioned "abiding by some specific values." Those who approach Jordan Peterson's ideas in a way that is fueled by anger, resentment, and hatred, are generally defending their own egos. The reactions to Jordan Peterson quite obviously reflect bias, but they also reveal that so many people get hung up on their personal feelings of pride and insecurity as opposed to esteeming curiosity, the quest for knowledge, and a hunger for truth, as things with greater importance and value than being right all the time. Those types of people would rather manipulate information to support their own stances than engage in neutral bilateral communication in pursuit of what is genuinely right. Egos, egos, egos. It all boils down to them.

The remedy is a shift in perspective. Being wrong is not a bad thing, it is a good thing: it indicates learning, growing, and increasing one's own accuracy. It's a natural part of the process of actually believing what is true, as opposed to manipulating information to delude the self into believing one is right so that one might obtain a fragile and completely false sense of emotional comfort for one's ego.

None of this is at all surprising. But I am surprised Republicans haven't made wire fraud legal yet.

Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said that she witnessed first-hand former President Trump’s alleged sexual harassment, describing it as “really bad, to the point that I was extremely uncomfortable.”

Oh, you say now?

During an appearance on CNN earlier this week, Grisham detailed the harassment she observed while working under the then-president. She added that she wanted to protect a specific staffer, who she said Trump would frequently take on trips with him.

Grisham also detailed an incident in which Trump called a staffer to come back to “look at her ass.”

“He one time had one of my other deputies bring her back so that they could look at her ass, is what he said to him,” Grisham said. “I sat down and talked to her at one point, asked her if she was uncomfortable.”

Ya think?

“I tried everything I could to ensure she was never alone with him,” she added.

While she noted that Trump would frequently comment on people’s looks and speculate about cosmetic surgery, Grisham said the harassment against the specific staffer was particularly alarming.

“But with this one staffer, it was really bad, to the point that I was extremely uncomfortable,” Grisham said. “I did everything I could to keep her off of trips actually, and to stay with her if she was with him alone because I was really nervous about what could happen.”

Yeah, but hey it's a job, so.... it was fine through the demotion until the Insurrection I guess. Although it's not much of a job when you don't even give press conferences.

As awful as Sanders and McEnany are as people, we probably won't see them flip on Trump.

It looks like Turkey's presidential election will head for a second round. There might be a chance for Kilicdaroglu in the second round, but, Erdogan massively outperformed his initial polling once again, and his chances are essentially revived (as in >70% of winning). This is a frustrating reminder for the global center-left and left that hammering home economic issues can work in campaigns, but never to underestimate the appeal of social issues and local patronage networks in influencing votes. That is how Erdogan managed to keep his core support even in the most earthquake-damaged areas of Turkey.

German health minister Karl Lauterbach*, today at a doctor's convention: "Medicine must not be dominated by economics".

...not really a controversial statement in these parts (he was referring to the problem of investment companies buying up medical practices and mostly preachig to the choir).
