You know what ?

To be honest I am getting kinda the feeling that the Dems indicted Trump in order to boost his numbers. Since they think that DeSantis is much more dangerous opponent in the general. If this is true it is a gamble but thus far it seems to be working pretty well. This really knocked DeSantis of the course.
Shhhh. Be vewy vewy quiet. They're hunting Elmer's

It doesnt hurt that ReDacted doesnt hold up to the beer test. The guy is a walking characterure of a Burt Reynolds movie villain, everyone in the state has had bad experiences with someone who ReDacted reminds them of. The human incarnation of an HOA who happens to speak like a 90's joke of what uptight white people look and sound like...and he's never really gotten over people not responding to his fuck me boots. Grand Moff ReDacted is tightening his fingers while countless star systems slips through his delicate yet still somehow clubbish fingers...all it would take is for some heroic tech saavy soul to release his porn search history and his base would have to pretend they didnt look at the same porn so hard he'd never be able to get elected for dog catcher. Which is a shame for him because you know he loves his dogging fetish. :matrix:

Yeah, now I'm a little afraid that I said that because of my negative social media influencer skills.

To be fair we are witnessing DeSantis crash and burn in real time -- even the Florida Republicans are abandoning him for Trump.

DeSantis has the charisma of dried dog turd sitting on the sidewalk on a hot summer day; dude just exudes overzealous middle school Assistant Principal energy.

The only push we saw from him was a manufactured, coordinated effort by the Republican establishment to once again break away from the Trump train, yet, as has been shown many times, the establishment is ultimately beholden to the whims of the Republican base and not the other way around. The Republican establishment holds a great deal of disdain for their base/constituency, yet is at least self-aware to realize that going against the base results in them losing power, which is why you see this begrudging pivot back to Trump for the Republican politicians. Trump was and still is their best means of regaining control of the White House, yet I also just don't see it happening.
So accurate.

That's very true, about the GOP base. This is also true of what is happening in Texas with the 10 Commandments thing. Even this koo-koo SCOTUS won't capitulate when it comes to freedom of religion. TX legislature is doing this because they believe their base are too fucking stupid to read what has happened every time a state legislature has cried - but we are a Christian nation 😭!! Hope they don't start using the Google machine or something.

I would enjoy some state rep bringing a bill that forces every man in Texas to eat a salad, every day, no exceptions.

Krause, Peter and Nils Hägerdal, "How Blowback by Armed Groups is Turning Civil Wars into International Conflicts".
Civil war is the most common form of conflict in the 21st century, yet few civil wars have their violence confined within the borders of a single state. Most civil wars involve military intervention by foreign states who arm local proxies and/or launch airstrikes against their local adversaries, making the conflicts longer and deadlier. Often unable to shoot down their planes and unsatisfied by fighting their proxies, these adversaries seek to hit interveners where it hurts most—back at home
Hägerdal, N. and Krause, P., 2022. Blowback Operations as Rebel Strategy: How Sectarian Violence Spread from Syria into Lebanon, 2013–14. Terrorism and Political Violence, pp.1-19.

Trump Is Racking Up Endorsements In Florida. Should DeSantis Be Worried?

At this rate the Trump will win. I gave DeSantis decent chances but with the indictment the whole playground was completely remade.
The only real question left is what happens if Trump ends up locked up for years.
Get ready for a whole new level of shameless cringe from his fans and a lot of REALLY CRINGE comparisons to Nelson Mandela while not being able to say two other things about Nelson Mandella. Probably not any calls for prison reform though... I could forsee Trump doing something like George Bluthe Sr.

I don't know exactly what the catalyst was but the pivot from DeSantis to Trump happened on a dime, but at present I think Trump has firmly reestablished himself as the front-runner for the nomination (I'm sure the indictment played a part, as Republicans love to flex their persecution complex, but I honestly think in the transition from a local to national stage, people just saw DeSantis for the sniveling weasel that he is).

I'm surprised the Republicans haven't tested the waters with Glenn Youngkin on a national stage -- he toes the line better between appealing to the culture warrior base, yet without completely scaring away the independents with the stench of extremism.

I think it was when DeSantis got infantile level butthurt that anyone would consider him being Trump's VP AND have the effrontery to ask him about it. This probably happened in February or March but it feels like 3 years ago. If Trump is indicted, the victim complex required to vote for him would be off the charts. There are some laughable moments coming soon to Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention. Like loyalty pledges in writing and other antiquated bullshit (conventions also but that's another conversation). It would have been even better if Mike Lindell had won the national GOP chair election.

I am fairly certain that if Glenn Youngkin got national level light on him, he would become the same troglodyte that all Republicans are in the end.

The Tucker Carlson news has my mind absolutely blown, but in the grand scheme of things it makes sense for Fox in the wake of the Dominion settlement. This just tells me Fox is going to switch up their format, back to more of the Bill O'Reilly era, less overt fascism.
