I've got news for the Republican establishment. I've got news for the Democratic establishment. They can't stop us.

This kind of post is exactly why we'll have four more years of Trump and reminds us you're not interested in uniting people.
You're running as a Democrat. Stop attacking Democrats.

Bernie doesn't get it.

Bernie doesn't get it.

How dare he go after his opponents in an election? People running in primaries against each other should never say anything bad about each other? Don't you know that the Democratic primary should be run like a group therapy session?

Also, pretty sure I saw Pete and Klob getting into major scuffles about some fairly dumb things during the debate. Like the President of Mexico and whether being a mayor or Senator from Minnesota makes you more qualified to be President. The only thing I've ever seen Bernie attack someone on is matters of substance.

Also, Pete accused me of of wanting to burn down the party. :( Why no unity Pete? I feel sad and left out, like a lonely lost clown.

The philosophy of the Republican party:

"I'll let you poop on my chest if you give me a free tax cut."

This also explains politicians like Lindsay Graham who opposed Trump on the primaries but are now Trump's best buds. He gave them free tax cuts. Hence, insulting Lindsey Graham's dead best friend (aka... pooping on his chest) is fine now with Lindsey because of that.

They're actually really consistent in their actions when you analyze it from this angle.

Around 2008, prior to Obama taking office, I recalled spouting off about socioeconomic two-tierism during the Bush Admin because of GOP policies. Little did I know that Trump would magnify that ten-fold. The past three+ years have been like living a nightmare of lies, corruption and fraud, gaslighting at its worst.

I believe Graham's case is different. I believe he has two reasons to support Trump:

 1. Thanks to 'conservative' media, Trump rules the minds of nearly all Republican voters. Not even a friend of the late John McCain can oppose his voters and stay in office. So, like all the other cowards, he aligned himself with their master.
 2. Trump probably has some dirt on him. Graham is not actually an idiot. He knows that what he does is spectacularly depraved. But if there is a video of you with, say, a male escort engaged in sexual intercourse, and you want to stay in the closet because your voters hate homosexuality, you may consent to being blackmailed into canine loyalty to someone you actually abhor.
The main problem with Republicans (and, to a lesser degree, with Democrats) is that losing re-election is the greatest peril they can imagine.

Something interesting to discuss...

can the republican party survive after Trump? can a successor candidate in 2024 hope to capitalize on the base he built in 2016? I see it falling apart after he is done.

Yes. The party is going to take a huge hit in the next election and for the foreseeable future.

I have yet to meet anyone IRL who voted for Trump who is actually a Republican. So far, they've all been Independents.
I guess you have not met any Republicans then. Because 90% of those who voted at all voted for Trump. It bears repeating, though, that Romney in 2012 was more popular among Republicans (93%) and among voters in general than Trump was in 2016. We tend to forget that because Trump (just barely) won the electoral college.

It really is a most idiotic election system...

I predicted in 2016, before the election, that Trump would kill the party because it could only survive the substitution of principle for idolatry as long as the Führer is around. Once he is gone, the party will not stand for anything anymore (except cowardice and greed, of course). I wish I could quote myself, but our evil overlords have confiscated thousands upon thousands of posts for no rational reason. Looking at you, highlander.

The great American public love Trump and he is good for the country. A two term limit is undemocratic as it robs the great American people of their chosen president. Surely the Supreme Court will agree that the two term limit needs to be abolished.

Reading this, I feel I should add to my own post: Once Trump is dead, it could actually turn into a dynasty with Ivanka taking over the throne. It would be entirely proper, of course. Just saving time and money by getting rid of elections.
