The following quotes are all real and were posted underneath the same article within a short period of time but not as a reaction to each other:

The Economist: *posts an article about how the EU increasingly selfidentifies in cultural terms and how that is a bad thing*

At least they can all agree that the EU is the source of all evil.

:doh::wacko:

Well, to be honest EU is indeed conglomerate of all kinds of things that can be interpreted in a various ways. EU parliament is far more diverse than US one in political sense.
In a way we have basically assembled another USA almost over night, what is both confusing and intimidating to some. Especially since we are probably doing better than large majority of the world.

To some degree this is true, but by large margin because American companies destroyed their own production and because EU is investing more into education (money and quality). What in the competency based global economy really matters. While at the same time EU rejects products that don't meet it's high quality legal standards (like most US food). What in the end leads to constant trade deficit.

I remember having some 'sort of arguments' about politics with my ex-boyfriend when we were together. He was super-conspiracy theory oriented. He also was more sympathetic towards Trump than me, but I thought he had some reservations. I just found out that he actively supports Trump. That does speak volumes about a person. I think it is valid to be a conservative, a republican, a democrat, a socialist, ideologically and be a reasonable person, but the personalized support of actual Trump shows a lack of character. I did kinda dodge a bullet there.
I think there are many people who are naive with respect to the level of toxicity that a malignant narcissist can have on everyone around them. It's a lack of understanding and judgment vs a lack of character. They see a good economy or agree with many of his policies and think he is doing a great job. Its results right? Narcissists are often very intelligent, charming and manipulative. Many cant see through it or lack the experience of the long term impacts. There are a lot of people like this in leadership roles who have a great deal of charisma that appeals as leadership. People don't realize it's all a out them. People engage in intelligent debate on this forum but that kind of dialogue is lacking in social media and society more broadly sadly so these things don't become obvious.

That's a complicated question. There are a number of documented moral offenses from Trump like this one:
Trump Pays $2 Million to 8 Charities for Misuse of Foundation - The New York Times

The moral cognitive dissonance required to support Trump is not as different from many other forms of moral cognitive dissonance that people display in other areas, which has been normalized by society, and so is not called out in the same way as it is for "Trump supporters". Willful blindness to moral offenses is itself a moral offense, so lack of judgment and lack of character have blurred boundaries when supporting corrupt leadership. There were moral fractures in the thinking and paradigms of my ex that enabled him to choose willful blindness regarding Trump. It doesn't mean he was evil. Also, he had a friend who was a really nice kid who actively supported Trump because it gave him a feeling of power to piss everyone off, but believe it or not he was a kind of sensitive, nice guy, but just depressed and lost about life. He did brag about clearing a room of people when he would go on supporting Trump. People feel empowered by rudeness and offense in this culture - it becomes a short-cut to power of other sorts. Those kinds of people would see the hypocrisy that is brought out by people who reject Trump supporters but possess moral cognitive dissonance themselves. However, seeing that in others does not justify support of Trump. That's where reasoning is left behind.

One of issue that people may not realize is that when someone has trusted family members who support Trump or anyone like him, they may support Trump as a secondary expression of trusting their loved one. To reject the politics within established trusted relationships is quite difficult, so I don't think that Trump supporters are all overtly evil. I think it is a moral failing to actively support someone who's actions are immoral even given contexts like I describe here, but humans do it all the time, and I've experienced some of my own moral cognitive dissonances and failings especially growing up, so it's more of a cautionary tale than a way to feel morally superior.

I agree with you completely. It's why the support of him by the evangelical Christian community is so repulsive to me in particular. They should know better. It reduces my confidence in the Christian community as a whole and the practical alignment between the espoused beliefs and their actions in supporting him. As someone raised a catholic (though not anymore). I'm disturbed by it.

Dey let in brown people who both take away our jobs AND leech off welfare (plus some bodysnatcher style replacement plot)

That just shows how clever they really are..... to leech off of welfare while taking your job at the same time.

So if you don't like a candidate it's okay to make up crazy shit about them. What is that - the Lance Armstrong school of winning?

Depends on what the orders from Russia are. I should get a transmission from Moscow in a bit.

But such methods are so innocent. Just imagine how much more wrong you can play your cards when it comes to this.

I have a feeling that someone was playing too much of Red Alert as a kid.
Not to mention that this whole plot of mind controlling American politicians and officers to get ahead looks rather awkward in current political climate.

Finland has a multi-party system, with multiple strong parties, in which no one party often has a chance of gaining power alone, and parties must work with each other to form coalition governments.

No side, motherfucker. No side.

That applies to a lot of European countries. Probably the vast majority of them (including my own).

I just made the amusing observation that I'm probably one of the most radical people here, and yet I rarely if ever get in hot water with the mods in this subforum.
