Did any of them give great speeches in the past?
One of them talked about getting a beer and a tomahawk.

Well we spent lots of money on bullshit Biden and Kerry supported, why not spend that money on something that will actually benefit people instead of killing them?
But isn't this the wrong way to think about this ?
The real comparison would be how much money would socialized medicine consume next to the private one ? (plus the ratio of coverage and quality)
Because this isn't really new spending, this is just moving one sector under the umbrella of the government. Which is in order to cut the middle man in insurance, marketing, PR, lawsuits ... etc.
My people generally prefer public option exactly because of lower costs. (not extra costs)
Well, people here have the idea that we can't afford it because of deficits, but they're perfectly fine with cutting taxes when there's a deficit (which we theoretically shouldn't be able to afford under the same logic), and they also are fine with starting costly bullshit like Operation Iraqi Freedom, which we also shouldn't have been able to afford. Of course, Operation Iraqi Freedom was originally sold as being important to national defense, and then when the weapons didn't turn up, it was about spreading democracy. The effect, of course, was also the rise of ISIS and emboldening Iran, but evidently those knowledgeable about foreign policy like Biden were unable to conceive of such a thing.
The idea that we "can't afford it" is only an issue for certain things and not others. Which shows you that the argument isn't really about costs, but simply the fact that people don't want to do those things in the first place, because it they worry it will turn them gay or maybe they just hate poor people.
Well, the deficit and the debts are in red for sure. But that should generally be another question because this is just moving one sector, not making a new one.
Therefore even if you don't save anything in the moving you should generally profit out of more healthy people and the fact that medical bills don't crush private family businesses, what is causing mini chain reactions on the local community level. So that you have more money for debts or interventions (if they are needed).
That would require thinking logically.
That depends on how you define logic. Do you care more about fixing the thing or just being "your own man". It is silly but this fundamentally comes down to the values, since both of these are logical in their own way. Although as you can presume I would go "fixing" all the way on this one. I understand "the opponents" but I really think this is a mistake.
Yeah it's batshit around here.
To me it looks more like a deliberate fetish of locking up people for pointless stuff. But ok, I suppose that passes as "crazy".
Oh, we love that, because we're the freedomest country in the world.

No seriously, I don't think there is another country that has even near as much of it's arrests posted on the internet. There really seem to be a element of "spectacle" in all this. If I am not mistaken we had the tread about this before the sub forum got wiped.
The country has slipped so far into this military/law enforcement worship fetish so that their entirely pointless arrests are excused by the public without issue. It's also how you get stuff like this.
I fail to grasp the whole blue line thing. (probably the same with other none-americans here)
Blue lives matter = cop lives matter. Naturally this was in response to Black Lives Matter because many cops and many non-black people can't fathom something being not about them. If they can't remain part of the conversation, they will be relevant by force.
