I haven't mistyped as completely different type, but I had some trouble settling down on a type and I think that's my path to go. I don't think I will ever be 100% sure of what my type is, because whenever I try to analyze myself there are many different parts I see not fitting quite well into the overall idea of INFP, actually I do not fit the stereotype of an INFP, but Fi is still on the winning side for me. Then there are many different possible explanations of the behavior and many different motivations, which I think is the most important thing when deciding on a type. Function is not what you do, but what pressures you to do it, what triggers you and what adds the fuel.
When I first took MBTI test I scored as ENFP, with very low E and very low F. When I didn't know a thing about MBTI I though I might be an INTP or ENTP, but it took me about 2 days to realize it's a complete nonsense. I've been jumping between ENFP and INFP mostly, but after reading more of Jung and his original descriptions of the functions I tried to somehow fit myself into Ni. When you look at Fi and when you look at Ni the two might to a point mirror each other in the realm or perception and in the realm of judgement as well. I remember navily enough...typing myself as INxJ, oh well I have to confess, some people here were so sure of me being an ISFP, that they pushed me into changing my type to an ISFP, but I fairly well know it's not really possible for me to be any kind of SP, further what is even less possible is me being any kind of SJ.
