My wife has family in Russia; her cousin and her Ukrainian husband finally got approved to come to Canada and their flights from Turkey are booked. But now they're worried about the mobilization. Borders to friendly countries might be closed soon, especially to able bodied men. We've urged them to get to Turkey early.

Good move. I have several colleagues with family in Russia. I hope they are doing the same.

The only reason USA is backing Ukraine, is entirely to do with Biden's own self interest. They are not our allies, and there is no real reason we should be helping them. USA needs to stop being world police.

You just said in another thread that you wanted more facts and fewer slogans and empty claims. Could you please, in that spirit, explain what your claims here are based on and what your reasoning is?

The world resembles a cryptocurrency ledger, where two different mining factions dispute each others' account of activities on the ledger, creating a fork.

...some military analysts have been concerned that Russia may seek to use a so-called tactical, or battlefield, nuclear weapon in response to its poor showing in Ukraine — a tactic sometimes called "escalate to deescalate." Intelligence officials believe Putin would likely only turn to that option if he felt Russia or his regime were existentially endangered, and it's not clear if he would feel that losing his war in Ukraine would fit that description.

Ukraine strikes Lavrov...

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov defended Moscow's war in Ukraine at the U.N. Security Council on Thursday as the United Nations warned Moscow against annexing Ukrainian regions and Western ministers called for accountability over atrocities.

Lavrov was only in the council chamber to deliver his address to the meeting of the 15-member body, which was attended by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Lavrov did not listen to anyone else speak.

"I noticed today that Russian diplomats flee as aptly as Russian forces,"
Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba told the Security Council meeting
