Makes you wonder if another wave will hit eventually.
I mean, I will continue to get seasonal flu and COVID shots.

Even a broken clock gets the time right twice a day.

If you take a nutty position to counter something a nut actually gets right, you diminish your own credibility, and add credence to the nut.

"Mr. Kennedy has singled out Froot Loops as an example of a product with too many artificial ingredients, questioning why the Canadian version has fewer than the U.S. version," the Times' report read. "But he was wrong. The ingredient list is roughly the same, although Canada’s has natural colorings made from blueberries and carrots while the U.S. product contains red dye 40, yellow 5 and blue 1 as well as Butylated hydroxytoluene, or BHT, a lab-made chemical that is used 'for freshness,' according to the ingredient label."

So, I was reading that Covid kills certain sorts of cancers, although it will kill you in different ways.

I always thought D.B Cooper was the Lindbergh baby. He turned to a life of crime in revenge for being kidnapped, lol.

Now, if they could only figure out the Zodiac Killer and what was up with Arthur Leigh Allen...

It will be interesting to see what this is all about (assuming they catch the perp eventually). Hired gun or disgruntled patient (or family member thereof).

This looked like a professional hit - silencer and the gunperson knew how to deal with malfunctions. I'm sure they will pass on the extra security costs to the subscribers in a totally health insurance company move.

You can already see the Corporate news media reporting on this different. Because he was a wealthy CEO its like he's a real person to them.

Yeah, what is up with that? Screw MSM again for missing the actual story.

Yeah, I was skimming my FB feed this morning when the New York Times obit / coverage came through and I had to look -- LOTS of comments, but essentially it's pretty much 90% audience talking about how high profits came from screwing over customers, 5% explicitly saying the guy was terrible / a villain because of this and doesn't deserve this attention, and 5% saying it sucks he was killed and he was answerable to stakeholders but again this is just showing how complicit the entire health care industry is to profit and is not customer-focused.

One number I saw thrown around was that United Health denied close to 23% of its claims, which is a high mark among insurers.

I have never seen such a one-sided response to an obit, and there was such variety in the wording and interactions that I don't think there were many bots. It felt like a pretty active message board, like here in its heyday.

There were a number of "thoughts and prayers" comments made sarcastically, including one gem about how "thoughts and prayers were not medically justifiable and thus not approved."

When you think about how much of that comes from people who were directly affected by the loss of a loved one or their quality of life because of the scam this man and the men and women like him perpetrate day after day, and the news and the police tell us we should feel bad because this was a human life...thus implying that his life mattered more than the many affected by his average tuesday power plays.

It reminds me of that scene in Tim Burton's PotA where Michael Clark Duncan yells: "BOW YOUR HEADS!"

They're really gonna show us our place in the next four years. What they really think we're for. And my bet its gonna be Ratings. One way or another.

Well, we already know that not all lives matter, especially with the current backswing in play. Look at how much sympathy one candidate got this year when someone registered to his own party shot at him. Certain classes of people can regularly be shot (at) without repercussion, others it is treated as a tragic violation of the social code.

Although this is pretty much the entire plot and resolution to Saw 6.

Is it weird that all the discussions of Disney films coming out still get all bent out of shape about "woke" concepts (now with Moana 2 out, that doesn't feel "woke" as if that's a thing, versus Snow White coming out next March?), but the animated Arcane series is about as queer as it gets (like, literally, the show's about blended families of choice, and the only straight "relationship" feels like a token pairing in its brevity and everything else is pushing or breaking gender norms and there's multiple queer relationships either explicitly shown or strongly intimated) and yet it's never really talked about in regards to "wokeness" and higher marks than almost any Disney product, even from gamer bro guys?

Its almost like people are welcoming of any message so long as it doesn't eclipse or lack solid writing and presentation designed to entertain rather than inflame.

Eh, I think it's a little too much from both sides.

For example, Lightyear wasn't a bad movie. it was unnecessary, perhaps, and not what people wanted to see -- and they canned Tim Allen and had Chris Evans voice the human version of Buzz. There was a lesbian relationship there, which I didn't feel was superfluous, a straight relationship would have been just as non-intrusive, but the "anti-woke" squad got their panties in a wad over it.

Maybe Disney at this point just has such a bad track record with (1) too much woke, fair or not, and (2) bad product (including all these shitty live-action conversion rehashes) that they have lost all goodwill. Plus.... since they bought out all these major franchises, the controversies from one spill into the other. Like all the casting in the MCU that people are flipping out about (changing a characters gender, age, or race) gets ported into arguments over other franchises like Star Wars or their animated films and vice versa -- it's all seen as "DISNEY CRAP" at this point, regardless.

So, when people talk about "defunding the police" especially people on the left, that know gun byback programs are simply free guns to dangerous criminals - this is partially why. Also the DoD programs that give weapons of war, like tanks, to police departments FOR FREE. It's all over the country, not just a few.

But this one is my favorite of them all. From August.

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (Reuters) - The ousted police chief of a tiny New Mexico border town pleaded guilty on Thursday to conspiracy to run guns to a brutal Mexico drug cartel.
Former Columbus Police Chief Angelo Vega pleaded guilty in federal court in Las Cruces to conspiracy and new charges filed on Thursday of aiding in the smuggling of firearms and extortion under color of law.
Vega, who appeared in court in shackles and a red jumpsuit, faces up to 35 years in federal prison and $750,000 in fines at sentencing, which has yet to be scheduled.

He was arrested in March along with former Columbus village trustee Blas "Woody" Gutierrez, former mayor Eddie Espinoza and 10 others, charged in an 84-count gun-running indictment. Since then, a couple from the nearby town of Deming has also been charged with participating in the conspiracy.

ACAB. They just keep proving it over and over.
