There is something fishy about this election. The fact that democrats were seeing record registrations and yet she still underperformed Biden. The way Trump was smugly saying it didn’t matter and he would win no matter what. I think the right found a way to put their finger on the scales and there should be investigations, otherwise it’s going to keep happening.
I think the Dems kind of shot themselves in the feet by repeatedly saying that our elections are fair, because now it will look bad if they call for any investigations.
My gut is telling me a lot of shenanigans happened. With republicans in power, they will likely bury or destroy any evidence of wrongdoings on their part.
I understand why you are saying this, and there are definitely a lot of questions out there.
At the same time, our voting system isn't nationalized when it comes to voting for president even with it being a "national" election -- all voting processes and data collection can differ from state to state, and the votes are collected & tallied on a local level in local precincts using whatever mechanisms they have on that level for tabulating ballots, then sent to a central state location for compilation. Because of the diversity and antiquity range of the systems involved, it's hard to make easy wholesale changes across a vote count.
Depending on state (and I am no longer really "up" on this process, the last time I looked seriously into it was 2000), it's possible data once collected at the state level could be fudged somehow, I just don't know what that would be.
The reason there was a lot of concern in 2000 was in regards to exit polling, where some of the election results did not seem to match the polling results beyond the expected variance. Proper exit polling allows for calibration with the reported election results -- you are comparing what the system tells you the vote count is, versus what the actual voters say their votes were. It's hard to believe all the voters would lie in an exit poll in the same direction that you think the tabulated results were fudged. So... do our state exit polls generally match the state's reported vote counts?
I guess the other thing is that Trump's group has always been a clown circus. Fucking incompetent across the board. It's hard to believe his crowd would have both the skill to pull this off and the ability to keep their mouths shut about it considering how many people might need to be involved. However, he has tech heads like Musk involved now -- this is yet another peril when tech oligarch types get involved and it's in their best interest to muck with stuff.
So.... I dunno.
It's pretty crazy though that Harris thought her campaign was doing well and doing a lot of hard work, and it looks like she lost just about EVERY swing state. That's kind of disturbing in implications, with a thumb on the scales or the campaign itself being SO out of touch. We've been discussing the latter a lot in here.
