I thought the biopsy comparison was more apt....

My kids are in PA. Seems that 20 somethings are motivated this time out. People driving hours to go back to vote at their registered area. No matter how it falls, at least they are busting their asses and not apathetic.

Weirdly I think Harris is going to win by a bigger margin than expected with at least one shocker like Texas flipping. Both the women and Latino votes are being underestimated. My gut says the result will ignite the "election fraud" notions and the extreme of Trump's base will try to destabilize society and freak out disturbingly. They are laying the groundwork saying illegal immigrants can vote (which is absurd), but the Hispanic vote could go more blue than ever, and that is going to appear to validate that narrative. I think all of Texas will have to be recounted among other states.

Maybe I'll seem absurd tomorrow, but this is what I think.
Yes, I feel like that could happen.

I just am kind of exhausted, though, and been smacked down too much in the past, so I can't really afford to think that way. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. I know people are saying "trust your fellow American" and expressing faith that they will pull through, but... I just can't. It's easier to focus on something else until there is an answer and then I can deal with it as needed.

Anyway, just wanted to share - I worked 4 days of early voting in the past week and I work the polls for every election. I get that people are exhausted, I am too but voters are very engaged. More than 2020. I live in a county that is most certainly going for Harris but there is reason to feel good today, overall.

Anyone with anxiety, I really encourage you getting out and getting involved as much as you can. Not at election time and not in election years - when people generally lose interests. It helps.

Well, it's done.

The line it is drawn, the curse it is cast.

I'll be watching the Road Warrior tonight, and perhaps Beyond Thunderdome, because I agree with Crow that we should put the whole Thunderdome incident past ourselves already, if you ask me. My understanding that the first film is unlike every other film in the series, so I'll get to that later when I feel up for exploring early installment weirdness.

Later.

I am not sure how this is polled: However if in exit polls the top issue at the end of the day is "state of democracy" that is kinda telling. Since that means that people realized about what this is all about in the end.

North Carolina governor race called for Democrats.

Republicans really messed up this race and this could really cost them in the big picture. Because this is important battleground state.

Who run bartertown?

We have a running joke in my home whenever my cat goes into crazy zoomie/chasing her toys mode and repeat the road warrior “we go in, we kill” quote. Also funny line for when she sees a bug running and freaks out chasing it

Well, it's late and I am going to bed. Looks like I'll be waking up to a Trump presidency. And a Republican Senate to boot.

I guess we'll see how crazy things might get in round two.

Barf. Very disappointing.

Worried for a lot of people. Worried for my trans kid. Worried for my mental health, not to mention the government agency I work for potentially being privatized or gutted

Voters are fuuucking dumb. When the economy briefly improves due to delayed effects of democratic policy, they will credit the GOP.

I have to be up for work in a few hours and I can’t sleep. Heart racing. This is very disappointing and anxiety inducing

I hate being right.

I'm not happy but at least I don't feel like I took a shotgun to the chest.

Hang in there. I could have written this myself. Glad I telework these next three days. Sitting online looking at my email right now. At least it's a distraction.

I am not surprised this happened, I'm just uncertain as to what steps will be necessary for me to take, etc.

It is a cold and not-so-comfort to realize some voters shot themselves in both feet and the head tonight...mostly because a lot of us will suffer along with them. I have a trans kid and a dreamer kid, along with myself to worry about.

I suppose that it is time that I put my cards on the table and show why I started this entire line of thought on the issue.

Not only that it is destined to get down to the wire but it is already there and we are some 8 weeks away from election day. In other words when there is a toss up around the country that almost always means that the Dems are in problems. However I will go into story over all this. As most of people here don't remember I also had national elections recently (this spring to be exact). In other words Croatia is also choosing it's parliament and person on the top every 4 years. However this year the main left party had a problem, they were stuck with party leader that wasn't really popular and thus electable. For that reason they decided to change the candidate (which is exactly why this "passing the torch thing" wasn't novel concept to me, since here political parties are doing it all the time).

Anyway, they made the change at the top however they have chosen the person that is both controversial and actually has a governing track record at the top. So this person wasn't really a new face. However all of that basically restarted the race anyway from the foundations and there was this "we aren't doomed" thing going on. Plus the polling visibly went up for the main left wing party. However due to high tensions and various dynamics the debates at the top were skipped.

Therefore after few weeks this whole campaign basically turned into a bla, bla, bla that is here just to pass the time. In the end the election day finally arrived and the turnout was the highest in many many years. So the left started to celebrate all over the internet. However then the shock moment came and early results were released: the people showed up but the results were right wing landslide. It was so bad that most of left wing leadership got drunk even if they knew that they had to do press conferences. Now how to best explain what happened here ? It is actually pretty easy. The left was constantly pushing this "abortion and safe us from dictatorship" story in the contrast to "economy and protecting the southern border" that was on the other side. What was the message that didn't really land in space and time. Especially since there was lack of details in the mix.

Therefore I dare to say: I think I saw this movie.

Yeap, I evidently watched this movie before (and all of it was projected in this post from mid September).
This campaign ended EXACTLY how I pictured it.

In other words since most here are having depression attacks over this campaign I didn't want to rock the boat too hard. But this was indeed possible to predict if you know where to look. The catch was that Biden was expected win popular vote by 7 points in 2020. However he won it only by 4 and swing states were won by point or less. While now Harris was projected to win popular vote by something like 1.5 points. What just wasn't enough by conventional wisdom. Therefore these 5 points of difference next to 2020 is what is sinking the ship across the country.

I know that this is difficult for everyone here but the situation is what it. The life goes on.

But it isn't 100% over.

Senate seats in Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada and Arizona are still in the air.
To some degree it can be said that entire house is as well.

How all of this will go matters on the long run.

You know, sometimes the best thing someone can do is just STFU for a bit and wait for dust to settle?

Even away from the pundits and CNN and MSM, there's still an endless noisy external stream of "I told you so" and "I knew this would happen" and "It's not entirely over."
