While I am not a conservative by any stretch of the imagination, I really hope that this election results in defeat for Trump in order that some sort of proper conservatism might emerge as a legitimate alternative to liberalism in the US, particularly if it keeps on the LGBT turn.

The US cant remain stuck in the sort of culture wars its been consumed in for a long time, not with geopolitics as they are and the climate disaster picking up pace.

LOL 😂
I hope it works

Edit: it encourages me that Frorge Clooney is narrating this ad. His wife Amal has clarity about Gaza and this makes me think Harris might do the right thing when in a position of power to act.

I 100% support defensive help for Israel like the anti missel defense against Iran but it was morally horrifying to let Netanyahu cross the line to war crimes.

I agree, I've never been friendly to zionism or israel, as I think ethno-statism and racism need to be buried once and for all.

The Hamas attacks in October were horrific but what horror I felt about that was quickly superseded when it became apparent the sort of licence the Israelis thought it gave them.

The Iranians are bad guys, I think they are responsible for a lot of ill shit, in the middle east and beyond, along with their allies in Russia they can all go to hell but what Israel has done is so similar to the crimes committed in Germany and Europe in the forties there's just nothing that could ever redeem them now.

I actually worry for the world if it doesnt realize that once they are done with the Palestinians, the Lebanese and Iranians the Israelis will move on to them next.

There is reporting to suggest it.

The Supreme Court in turning Roe vs. Wade combined with an overall brutish increase in misogyny could absolutely motivate women.

My impression is that the women supporting Trump are sometimes benefitting from being praised by men for being “cool” for not being offended.

I actually can’t comprehend it. I have never been motivated politically like I am this year - probably two orders of magnitude more motivated - and it has a lot to do with the violently brutish misogyny. If other women feel a fragment of what I feel then they will vote.

If the Dems will win they will evidently do it through the female vote.
Because to women these are existential elections. Even the party alliance may not prove to be too much of a barrier in many cases.

Therefore if it is true that women are skipping polling due to various fears of talking about the subject that means that the polling will be incorrect in the end. So now is the time to hit Trumpism with every vote that is available. This political era simply has to end.

Just saying the obvious.

Regarding the Jon Stewart thing, I think I'm with Wyatt Cenac on this. I can't say for sure because I haven't seen the video of Stewart, but as I've pointed out before, Stewart doesn't always have the right takes on things.

Causing offense doesn't justify murder in my view, but that doesn't mean it should never receive any moral sanction. I hate people talking shit about my city and they do it all the time, so I can imagine how Puerto Ricans might feel. In both cases, I'd say there's a racial aspect. I think I appreciate it that people on the whole aren't pretending what Hinchcliffe did was just edgy comedy.

Anyway, in case anyone hasn't figured it out, I'll be voting for Kamala. I planned to vote early but that didn't quite work out. They wanted me to wait in line outside in the rain. No thanks.

Perhaps you should request an absentee ballot for future elections. You don't have to use it, you can go vote in person but it's good insurance.

I cannot imagine why any reasonable person would do otherwise. In our current electoral system, either Trump or Harris will be elected. Even if you disagree with Harris on policy, any supporter of American democracy would be at odds with Trump much more fundamentally. Elect Harris, then argue with her about what you want done. She will encourage you to do that vs. throwing you in jail, or worse.

My area is largely African American and Hispanic, so it also gets trashed a lot for being a crime and poverty hellhole, yet the poor white area I used to live in that was subject to many car break-ins and home robberies never got the same bad reputation. White crime and poverty always get a pass by the media.

The Detroit Police Department and the city announced on Wednesday that crime is down 24%, which is the lowest rate since 1966.

58 years. You would never know this outside of local media.

My gut is telling me that it is New years eve even if I know that it isn't. The days are getting pretty short. It is getting evidently colder outside. There is this countdown at which the whole world is watching. People are making wishes or talk about the incoming end of the world. Pretty standard for New years eve when you think about it.

I know exactly what you mean.
Dispite the fact that its just another day, business as usualy, there is an undercurrent of frenetic energy, hope, fear, and antici... ...pation. As if life is holding its breath.
