I think it needs saying that there is zero contradiction in being both unapologetically pro-Palestine and wholly opposed to the spike in utterly reprehensible anti-Semitic attacks we’ve seen in recent days. Zero.

I wouldn't have thought otherwise.

Charlie Kirk wants to save America in the name of Republican Jesus | Flux

Since the new effort was announced, Turning Point has posted on its website at least 25 job openings for staff across the country who will engage church leaders and congregants on issues of “faith and freedom,” a term frequently used by believers in the Christian nationalist ideology that has become much more powerful in Republican politics since former president Donald Trump began his term in 2017.

As defined by sociologist Andrew Whitehead (co-author with Samuel Perry of a recently published historical look at the ideology in the US called Taking Back America for God), Christian nationalism is a cultural framework that advocates for a fusion between Christianity and American civic life. According to Whitehead, adherents are motivated by “assumptions of nativism, white supremacy, patriarchy, authoritarianism, [and] militarism” to view their own personal political beliefs as part of “God’s plan.” Critics of the movement often refer to it as Christian supremacism for this reason.

Ted Cruz, Dan Patrick, Ronald Regan - all big big fans. Dennis Prager & Ben Shapiro too. Yes I know they are Jewish but supporting Christian Nationalism and fascists to push their agenda of hate towards atheists', agnostics, LGBTQ+... totally worth it.

Schaeffer advocated massive resistance to what he saw as a looming anti-Christian society. His work inspired dominionist political action even though he claimed to support religious pluralism and oppose overt theocracy. One major difference between Schaffer and the Reconstructionists is that while they agreed about the threat to Christianity, Schaeffer did not believe in the contemporary applicability of Old Testament laws and Rushdoony’s slow motion approach to dominion. Instead, Schaeffer emphasized the need for militant Christian resistance to what he called “tyranny.”

Schaeffer argued that “the common people had the right and duty to disobedience and rebellion if state officials ruled contrary to the Bible. To do otherwise would be rebellion against God.”42p.

Oh, so that's what's meant by "resisting tyranny."

I will be the first to admit I don't consider myself the most politically adept/facile/minutae-master in all of history, and I'm probably late to the game; however: I was notified quite recently of some recent flux of semitic backlash, and I must say, without knowing of all the complicated details: this:

I recently purviewed a woman essentially getting bullied for expressing anti-racist beliefs, but she did this within the purview of a racist generalization: now, if a woman, or any kind of human being, is not allowed to make racial generalizations in the service of a non-racialist agenda, then I don't know::

exactly what is wrong with society today.

People must be allowed to make racial generalization in the service of non-racialist agendas.

How else is society at large supposed to progress through mass exchange of historical representations, mis-representations, and construals of bi-partisan free speech?

Without a society which is very slow to anger as well as methodical as it relates to racialist speech, which I might opine, conservatively, is not characteristic of the current milieu, we are a nation of ravagers only.

Not sure what I expected. Maybe I thought Manchin would cave. But I'm more depressed and despondent today than I have been in the past four years. And I'm not sure who I'm more disgusted by: Manchin or the Republican psychopaths he's enabling. (Hate the scorpion, or the frog who insisted the scorpion not be treated like a scorpion?)

We're screwed, and not in the overly hyperbolic, reactionary way. At this point it seems Manchin and Sinema seem hellbent on blocking all the remaining parts of Biden's agenda to appease their idols across the aisle, all but ensuring public sentiment of disappointment towards fulfilled campaign promises rests squarely at the feet of the Democrats, and coupled with the inflation boogieman amd this being a redistricting year, will hand Congress back to the Republicans. Several GOP-led states have already legislatively amended the election processes that stopped them from outright stealing the last election -- Much like Milton's paycheck in office space, they merely "fixed the glitch".

And it actually is the Democrats' (at least the corporate Democrats) fault for being spineless, feckless losers who are too busy fantasizing about their wet dream of working hand-in-hand with Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy, when neither one of them would piss any single one of them out of they were on fire.

It is over now. 2020 was the dry run and 2022 will provide the necessary political capital where they can finish putting the final touches on 2024.

Relax. Biden has restored the norms and this will preserve our Republic.

What did anyone expect? He's a Democrat from a hardcore Republican state. He wouldn't be elected if he didn't act like a Republican and/or hold Republican positions.

I mean, maybe I'm just cynical at this point. It's all so fucking broken, and it doesn't feel like voting power is translated into actual policies anymore.

I need some equivalent of George Hahn doing the occasional Gaetz impression (by taping his nose to his forehead) for the entire GOP.

Hours and hours of something like that.

Twitter is only delivering anger today.

Folks, if the status quo before Trump was capable of sustaining itself, we wouldn't have had Trump in the first place. That's why I thought it was dumb to try and go back to that.

That said if Sanders had won the nomination, and the won the general election (which I thought was very much a possibility especially given Trump's abysmal handling of Covid), I think January 6th might have played out very differently, so maybe it is a good thing that Obama put his thumb on the scale and convinced everyone except Warren to drop out so he had no chance of coasting to the nomination like Trump did in 2016 among a divided field.

I'll be honest, there are some cases of murder and other crimes that I'm fine with the death penalty existing for, some people are so wicked in their actions that even if they could be redeemed they should just be killed.

I also think that there should be some means by which the NOK can be not simply invited to executions but to act as actual executioner. That's so that the not in my name people can be sure its not in their name, its the NOK actioning the penalty. I also think or hope that the NOK would want the evidence to be air tight and that they'd not be executing some sap while the real perp remains at large because of some police bullshit.

Here's a novel idea Mr Shcumer, instead of making commercials telling me about the horrible things republicans are doing and asking for my money to keep you in the senate in 2022, how about you actually do...anything...you and your boy Joe Cool...promised instead of just sucking off your esteemed colleagues across the isle while they do these horrible things. I swear there's some secret kinky S&M games between republicans and democrats, but the fact that so many of these con artists have enough people bilked out on either hope or fear to keep getting elected, suggests that the real masochists are the american voters.
