The Lincoln Lawyer - good movie. Usually I'm not too into law-related things, but the cast did help, and the plot did keep my attention. I'd like to say Matthew Mchaunashirtless wasn't shirtless this time, but some things cannot change.
Franklyn - interesting movie. I enjoyed the cinematography. The plot was interesting, diving back and forth between a real london and an alternate reality.

I saw Harry Potter. In glorious, fantastic 2D. Was it really necessary to divide this movie into two parts? I mean, of what I recall from the last movie, it was mostly an overlong camping trip, a romantic love triangle drama of some sort, and a CG-enhanced Hermione that looked half naked. Some of this stuff could've been cut to make one whole film.

The book was very much like that, actually. I think condensing that too much would have been bad. Even 7-2 felt a bit rushed to me because they still had to cover so much ground and different viewpoints despite separating it into two movies.

lol Talk to me when you suffer through the Twilight movies- then wonder why they had to split the fourth into two movies.. let alone why they had to make more than one movie at all

Cowboys & Aliens, what a letdown. The vfx weren't even that good (except for the interior of the spaceship, which seemed a bit like the Crysis spaceship, but it was still pretty cool), but at least it had good chemistry between Craig and Ford. And it wasn't in 3D, so Jon Favreau at least kept some of his self-respect as an artist intact.

I saw the first Twilight movie after I heard it was a big hit, so I figured it would be a vfx extravaganza with a broad appeal. But instead, it appealed to broads. I viewed it and thought, "There are too many teenage girls in this world." I can't believe that turd became such a voice of a generation.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I enjoyed it to my surprise and loved how Draco Malfoy got the "Damn dirty apes" line. Unfortunately, I wish I could say the same for the CG apes, although Andy Serkis' mocap performance was phenomenal, as usual. Still, I stand by what I said that the apes looked almost as bad as the monkeys in Jumanji. But the movie was overall very good.

blackadder goes forth. war was such a great idea for setting...solid misery and so many death jokes! <3 i'm hooked on british comedy all over again, gonna watch 'allo 'allo now.

Mars Needs Moms - I just downloaded this for something decent to watch, but it was a lot better than I'd expected. The characters are likable, the plot isn't as light and airy as I thought it may be, and the animation is well done- especially since they used sensor-equipped suits for it. I'd recommend it

Agreed. The filming has gotten better with the other 2 they made, but the plot is just so god-awful. I love the trailers because they show all of the 60seconds of action there is throughout the entirety of each movie.
I'm very tempted to go to a midnight showing of the very last one and just laugh at the parts I'd normally find humorous.

Were the characters as zombie-like as any of those other performance capture films with Robert Zemeckis' name on it? I wanted to see this too, but I never got a chance to. I always thought this would be more like Monster House than The Polar Express, Beowulf, or A Christmas Carol. The last one wasn't quite as bad from an animation standpoint because it didn't try to look real, but how many Christmas Carol movies do they need? (The only one I really liked was Scrooged.)

Seriously... Telling the fucking monster "bad things happen" is your big fucking speech? Everything is alright after that? AND THEN THE FUCKING WATER TOWER TURNS INTO A SPACESHIP? ARE YOU FUCKING WITH ME?

And I wanted the fat kid to die.

Seriously... Telling the fucking monster "bad things happen" is your big fucking speech? Everything is alright after that? AND THEN THE FUCKING WATER TOWER TURNS INTO A SPACESHIP? ARE YOU FUCKING WITH ME?

And I wanted the fat kid to die.

It is explained earlier in the film that the monster is actually friendly. So I expected Joe to befriend it. It was also explained that the monster's technology (the cubes) was so superior that humans were not able to understand it, and that it could build intricate things. Honestly, the points you criticize did not bother me at all. Then again, I had expected the film to be a lot worse before watching it, so that probably influenced my reaction, too.

What about the fathers? They were mere plot devices without any character to speak of.

I liked Super 8. It was likely the best movie I saw this summer. The whole movie is an homage to Steven Spielberg before he made Schindler's List and started imitating Stanley Kubrick afterward. I thought J.J. Abrams captured the feel of Spielberg's '80s stuff very well. Okay, so Spielberg was a producer, but still...

I saw Final Destination 5 in 3D. The usher threatened to remove me for laughing so hard, but these kind of movies usually make me laugh.

Anyway, this movie was more dark in tone than the last movie, but the death scenes were mostly over-the-top, albeit the gore porn was ultimately satisfying, as was the gimmicky twist ending.

The fifth installment was also surprisingly well directed and took full advantage of stereoscopic 3D. The gimmick is exploited to its full potential and it proves that 3D should only be used in a movie that are also entirely designed for gimmicks. See also Drive Angry and Saw: The Final Chapter.

I saw Friends with Benefits - don't ask - and it doesn't suck that bad. I suspended my belief, endured, enjoyed sex scenes, ass shots, and chuckled a few times. Mila Kunis was quick. Woody Harrelson does a decent job of holding it up. Justin Timberlake is Justin Timberlake. What can I say? I came. I saw. I left.

If you liked the comic books you'll probably like the movie. They did a decent job considering their last attempt, but it wouldn't be fair to compare this to Iron Man (I or II) and The Original X-Men movie. Watched other Marvel movie adaptions and smiled? Then this will definitely do, otherwise enjoy the pop-corn and an Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) appearance and reminisce when summer blockbusters were great, instead of "eh, I wouldn't mind seeing that".

I saw Glee! the movie last night, it's really nothing done at high speed, by trained professionals pretending to be high school students. But still, it is very popular in the USA and even outside.

Essentially it is non-stop selling. And the person you are selling is yourself. And of course America loves a salesman and the salesmen love themselves.

And in a time of economc downturn, it is necessary to have a Revival. And there is nothing Americans love more than a Revival.

And Americans love the moral distinction between phoney and authentic, and Glee! is strictly phoney. But once you learn to fake it in America, you've got it made. So fake it 'til you make it with Glee!

I watched 12 Monkeys last weekend. I... felt conflicted about it. I guess works involving time travel kind of evoke mixed reactions from me.

Also, I found Fillmore! episodes on YouTube. Loved that series.

I was lying on a rug, looking at the television, and found out that Mercury Rising was on. The only thing I know about this movie is that it was released in the 1990s, and that it stars Bruce Willis. The first thing I hear when I start watching this movie is this sciencey guy on a phone, diffusing a tense situation by informing dear Bruce that he was "setting up an email address." The notion that Bruce Willis' salvation in this movie is to have this guy "set up an email address", that was one of the greatest moments in all of cinema. Questions arise like "why?" and "could he actually do that?" fill my head. I laughed.

Bruce Willis probably has a gun in this movie, and I believe the child is miniature Rain Man. I will continue to allow this movie to play.
