This whole album is growing on me, but the way Fiona Apple repeats "ladies ladies" is one of my new favorite things.

Such a good song...

"So far away, won't you come close?
Just like me, a lonely ghost
A shadow of myself that only you can see
You can run but you can't hide
I am the mirror, your other side
Look into my eyes
Run from me and you will die."

You may believe that your house is bleak and you're leaving
But there's a gulf between what it is that you see and what you should be seeing

And you open like a flower
And I open too
I have found that what you seek
Is the perfect flower and it is in you,
And I only wish you knew

The way I see it (What do you see?)
The world is upside down (Upside down?)
Is it me? (Can it be?)
Or is it in your hands?

So go on now sweet prince
And let me lead you on
And close your eyes to blindly look at the sun
You fall below the silver screen
Of knowledge, it's a perfect dream

Rubicon's old bridges burn
You turn, they are ablaze
Great divide is getting bigger

Home to no one, you are are nowhere
The Sandman takes you there
You'll be sleeping on the pillow
Where the night becomes her hair
Climbing through the buttonhole
And falling up the stairs
Go on go on go on

So go on now sweet prince
And let me lead you on
Close your eyes to blindly look at the sun

"And your love is a graveyard
Where the grasses grow low
And the people that lie here
Knew just what you know
Now your shovel's a shot glass and you drink your own toast
You're living your life as a ghost"

That phrasing...god, I love Gazpacho.

Lower
Further
I still believe in sunrise
Yet I shall walk through the endless fog
Stumbling ahead
Again around in circles
Underneath the skin
There's no desire
Moon and Sun might rise
Behind this curtain of smoke
Release your past and guilt
The hope will slow you down
Forget the tears of joy
Walk towards oblivion
Hear the resonance
Of my steps in the ashes
Lower
Yet I shall walk
Lower
All I know
Collapsed
Vanished
Irreversible
Burnt in flames of greed and disregard
When we couldn't seize
The surrounding beauty
To the ground we fell
We hid and now we crawl
Lower
Yet I shall walk
Lower

Oh boi, maladaptive coping mechanisms..."there is hope but no desire" this is what happens when you lack a sense of purpose or feel guilty and punish yourself or something I guess?...IDK, the song isn't too specific and it could be many things.

I used to use this song as motivation through my bipolar episodes because of the chorus..."lower yet I shall walk" pressing on through lows...

I would love for you to elaborate on this.

It’s not particularly deep. I’m not breaking down the social hierarchy of orchestras in general. Perhaps I should have used within this orchestra instead of an orchestra. Anyway I was just noticing a couple of squabbles between members of certain sections as they maneuver for prominence or in some cases maneuver to command physical space. The most amusing example is the lady that shoots a withering glare at the solo violinist next to her. I’m no psychologist or sociologist but body language and facial expressions do paint a clear picture.
