Ooooh I see you're the type that doesn't talk to people who disagree with your beliefs/point of view. Cool.

I'm actually really into politics, so you are wrong that I don't take politics seriously. I consider myself a right leaning libertarian who's in favor of very small government, & I spend a lot of time doing research on political things that I find interesting.

I don't see Trump that way, but ok. I also don't agree with quite a few of his stances of things, so it's not like I'm above criticizing him either though.

Maybe you should try to gather new information from people with different views than your own rather then just being like "you don't 100% agree with me in every way, so I just won't talk to you".

lol

Oh, do you spend a lot of time researching politics? Where?

The reason I don't want to talk about this with you is because it would be a total waste of my time. You're the one who thinks you have no unconscious biases, who thinks you are completely right. Why should I waste time talking to you? You aren't open to different ideas. Don't project that on to me.

Luminous maybe don't call someone names or attribute mean attributes to someone & you won't get a sarcastic response.

People who think they have no unconscious biases are arrogant. It's an inflated sense of self, confidence, in thinking one is not fallible. Everyone is fallible. No one is perfect. I am not perfect. The only way to try to be better is to admit that, and try to do and be better.

Then don't talk to me.

I apologize to anyone else reading this thread for this back & forth possibly being seen as derailing.

Why is liberals first go to in discussions to always hurl insults at other people?

& an example of political things I like? I like watching Ben Shapiro videos. I also just bought one of Greg Gutfeld's books. I watch CNN, MSNBC, & Fox News all daily. I read up on different political ideologies, even ones I don't agree with myself such as socialism & communism to get a better understanding of it & why people do like it. I could go on, but I won't.

This is not derailing. This cuts to the very heart of part of the problem. Part of what has led our country to this point. People who aren't taking the issues seriously enough, who won't try to step back and look at it all, and realize that maybe they've accidentally, without meaning to, without intent to purposely hurt others, been part of the problem.

Why is liberals first go to in discussions to always hurl insults at other people?

Do not accuse me of things.

I'm sure that I am part of the problem in ways that I do not realize. We all are.

This is good news. It appears that qualified immunity is on the chopping block table.

"This Has To Stop": Court Invokes George Floyd'''s Death

WASHINGTON — A federal appeals court on Tuesday invoked the recent death of George Floyd in Minneapolis in denying legal immunity to five cops in West Virginia who were sued for shooting a Black man 22 times while he lay motionless on the ground.

Judge Henry Floyd of the US Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit wrote on behalf of a unanimous three-judge panel that to dismiss the case against officers who shot and killed Wayne Jones in 2013 "would signal absolute immunity for fear-based use of deadly force, which we cannot accept."

Floyd noted that Jones was killed a year before protests erupted nationwide after Michael Brown, a Black man, was killed by police in Ferguson, Missouri.

"Although we recognize that our police officers are often asked to make split-second decisions, we expect them to do so with respect for the dignity and worth of black lives. Before the ink dried on this opinion, the FBI opened an investigation into yet another death of a black man at the hands of police, this time George Floyd in Minneapolis," wrote Floyd, who is not believed to be related to George Floyd. "This has to stop."

Do not accuse me of things.

So what have I personally done to hurt someone? Name an action.

Because I've also been put in a chokehold by a police officer, & I'm a 5' 3" 110 lbs white woman, & when I mentioned the incident to another police officer I was told that they can do whatever they need to do to get someone under control.

But police brutality is always racial, right?

Destroying black people's small businesses while chanting black lives matters helps black communities, right?

You act as if I'm defending police. I'm not. I'm not a fan of police at all.

Factual evidence just doesn't support most of what Democrats are saying though. & My bad then for believing that most people don't have malice racist hearts. Are you sure you're not projecting your thoughts of others on me?

Thank you! I'm not. I know many, many, many wonderful black people that I love & would go way out of my way for & have.

This is not researching politics. This is false balance or bothsideism. It looks good, it looks fair and even balanced but it's a bias. Media does this incessantly and because of that, individuals think wow - I should look at both sides. Even when one side is some asinine hot take made up bullshit that sounds good to some people, minus any validity or evidence of any kind. These are hot takes, they are opinions, not facts and they certainly don't warrant anything beyond an opinion show. Except many people don't know this is an opinion and that's another conversation.

Ben Shapiro is currently out looking for the "place of comfort" he lost his when sports stopped, his words not mine. Apparently Ben Shapiro needs a safe space which is so fucking hilarious no rational person would try to spin it into something it clearly is not. But false balance will allow for spinning it. However, facts don't care about feelings and Ben Shapiro should try some ice cream or a good long cry.

ceecee I like his slogan "facts don't care about your feelings". Too many people base their arguments on emotions imo, & it's hard to analyze or debate emotions. I do think he's often unaware of his own emotions that back up his arguments behind his logic though.

I also just have a mind of my own. I actually spent a good amount of hours the other day reading up on unconcious bias from different sources, & it still just doesn't resonate with me. I just can't for the life of me wrap my head around it.

My thoughts of strangers throughout the day are more like "wow, they're really attractive", "does he know that shirt doesn't cover his entire belly?", "her dress is really pretty" etc.

I actually find a lot of black men & women attractive, so if I saw a muscular looking black man I might think "damn he's hot" but I've never thought "he looks intimidating" or anything like that.

Not sure if I'm articulating this well.

I don't think you have said anything racist or even controversial in regards to race. Unconscious bias is unconscious so it would be hard to wrap your head around it on that fact alone. I do have an issue with anyone that finds Trump entertaining. He isn't, especially not to the many people his policies impact negatively - far more than impact positively. However, the celebrity/name recognition obsession seems to be happening world wide. Especially in the countries having more authoritarian slides like the US or worse.

That doesn't make this trend any less concerning, regardless of their celebrity. It just makes them less likely to have the education and expertise and frankly, the mental fortitude to hold high elected office and I don't like the cult of personality trend either. Those movements generally have little substance but lots of lies, propaganda and graft.

Still less scary than the Clinton's imo. Weird how so many people that worked for them died under some bizarre circumstances or people that were going to testify against them.

Biden is also responsible for voting for a lot of legislation that has lead to the problems with the criminal justice system that we have today.

I believe Biden once said something along the lines of he speaks eloquent for a black man about Obama before too. Like what??? How could he think that's ok to say?? I would would NEVER say that about any of my black friends or coworkers. That's so idiotic & such a back handed "compliment".

I'm also not for higher taxes so..

Trump's wall idea is a waste of tax payer money imo too. I'm fine with anyone being here & working as long as they pay for all of their own things & not committing felonies. Also I think the war on drugs that Trump likes is stupid & a waste of money & resources. I say legalize all drugs, put the drug dealers out of business, & that way it's regulated & people won't accidentally OD. Less people in prison, because people won't get locked up for possession charges either. Obviously, you still can't drive under the influence though.

ceecee the way Trump likes to troll people is highly entertaining imo. His rallies & how he goes about interacting with his supporters is fun to watch, to me.

"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."

I've been to two Trump rallies. If you haven't, I really encourage you to go.

Unconscious bias is unconscious, so they wouldn't be thoughts you're aware of.

Unconscious Bias | diversity.ucsf.edu

Take this or some of the other tests on this site and see what scores you get: Project Implicit

Anyone who thinks they are completely aware of all their thoughts, motivations, and biases is mistaken and needs to stop being so arrogant.

I need to laugh.

I'm white btw.

During the IAT you just completed:
Your responses suggested a moderate automatic preference for Black people over White people.

maybe that's because every POC I've been associated with has hurt me far less than my own race...?

There's something really funny about the fact that Tucker Carlson's "The lady doth protest too much" moment* was literally triggered by Sesame Street Muppets. Elmo, no less.

*At least Hamlet's mother had the dignity to start wildly swatting at her own phantoms because of an adult puppet show.

Eta, funny comment I saw about this yesterday: This message has been brought to you by the letters W, T, and F.
