An actual voting data from post Roe era.
Special election in Nebraska and the big shift that probably can't be explained with out Roe in the mix. The district was just too red to shift but the shift was pretty large.
there's a lot of moderate to slightly conservative republican women who won't outright voice their support but will quietly vote blue on this issue.

Of course.
In the whole election math they had a clean red win in sight and there was probably just one single thing that they shouldn't touch. However they touched directly into that and now all bets are off. On the other sides of the world women are getting pretty pissed and annoyed over this, so I can only imagine what is going on in the heads of the American ones. After all it is enough that this triggers just the ones that are independents to some degree and the expectations for November start to fall apart. Since the system is quite sensitive to just 3 to 5 points swings. However this is the decision that has serious socio-economic and legal consequences. This isn't something you can just forget about, especially if you are a woman (a majority in USA).

I got bored so I made the map that just like that Nebraska district swings for 13 points to the left of 2020. Just so that it is easier to visualize how big swing that actually was.

This surely wouldn't go this far in the big picture but even if the federal shift is 30% of that the November will not be what was expected. The GOP already struggles with popular vote and electoral math without shenanigans on most years. Therefore if all races permanently move to the left just 3-7 points over this topic, because it constantly has to be maintained on the state level it is safe to presume that the GOP has serious problem.

Now that Roe v Wade has taken away a precedent in favor of originalism, people should challenge West Virginia's state laws on the basis that it's only a state based on precedent, and therefore should not be respected as one. lol

Edit: the article that prompted this amusing thought:

A brief look into the future:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/07/02/brazil-child-rape-abortion/

A 10-year-old rape victim sought an abortion. A judge urged: Stay pregnant.

The 10-year-old rape victim was pregnant, and asking a court to authorize an abortion.
She found herself sitting under a crucifix in the courtroom in southern Brazil, across from a judge and prosecutor who repeatedly urged her to continue the pregnancy
Could the girl stand to be pregnant “a little while longer?” Brazilian Judge Joana Ribeiro Zimmer asked. Did she “want to name the baby?”
When those entreaties failed, the prosecutor jumped in. Would the girl consider adoption “instead of letting him die — because it is already a baby, a child — instead of letting him die in agony?”
Ribeiro Zimmer ordered the girl taken from her family — to protect the fetus, she said. The procedure is legal in Brazil only in cases of rape, incest or severe fetal abnormality. But advocates for abortion rights say the case of the 10-year-old shows how even women with a permissible reason face resistance from hospital policies, red tape and an often hostile judiciary.

In other news of age a man named Jordan who sounds like a frog and likes looking sweaty in a tuxedo wants to turn young men into monsters that can be controlled. Lets say for the sake of argument that Benjamin really wants to get behind, meanwhile Mathew who is very concerned with what makes a woman, even though Steven certainly seems to enjoy dressing in drag and doing the, well its not exactly the hula, but if you pay David enough he's willing to pretend.
What could possibly go awry?

And Now Ladies and Gentleman put your hands together for Mr Blonde as The Supreme Court...you know the song, you know the dance, they're coming for your ears America.

Except I wouldnt count on Mr Orange doing anything to stop it.

Tarantino films are fun to watch, not live. They tend to not go well for the characters.

Next Stop The Twilight Zone.
Mind the gap.

It's gonna be Desantis (assuming these are still the 2 favorites in 2 years)

Yeap, that is what my gut feeling tells me as well. Unless something drastic happens I think he has quite decent shot of taking the nomination. Most people in the party at least somewhat realize that the party simply needs new top face (which should be younger among other things).

He's certainly been fucking his own state to show how willing he is to fuck the whole country. Got that wanna be dictator "dick" energy. though he folds composure when challenged on anything. I hope he and dear leader get in each others way all the way to mutual losses, or mutual prison sentences...

Because health and life of the mother aren’t always very cut and dry. There is no situation where it is safe for this baby to have a baby without risking her life or future health, but because her life isn’t in immediate danger, nothing can be done until it actually becomes a life or death situation and you risk losing them both.

As someone who another pregnancy would put in this exact situation, it’s terrifying. I already had one tubal failure (and ctt a pregnancy against medical advice that almost killed me). Just gotta hope lightening doesn’t strike twice.

Yeah, I read some stories that now doctors are openly waiting that mother goes critical and only then they have legal means to intervene. I mean that is a logical consequence of "the decision".
