I mean, she is insane but so are all of the Michigan GOP - this is a witch hunt and an attempted coup. Of course.

Every time I hear "witch hunt" I get the desire to say "Witch hunts are totally reasonable when it is obvious that we have witch problem on our hands".

However on the other side there is a twist in this particular case. If GOP in Michigan manages to gets more competent leadership in this reshuffle that could create advantage for the party. Even when Trump messed up COVID completely Biden won the state by something like 3 points. So now when Biden is pretty unpopular at least somewhat more competent leadership could easily swing the swing state. Especially since Gaza could nullify the abortion as a topic. Plus if you get red Michigan the odds are that you will get red Wisconsin (and with that Trump is already at 260 EVs).

At least that is how I interpreted the article in my head.

Hopefully it helps Haley. I'll miss having a candidate who was not afraid to call out Trump with something more than mild criticism of his failed promises (border wall, "great" alternative to Obamacare, etc.)

Haley is a long shot, but if she could through some miracle pull off the nomination it would kill two birds with one stone. Trump would hopefully move on from politics and Biden should also go down to her in the general. A much needed housecleaning for the US political landscape.

He didnt run to win. He ran to defeat Trump.

He ran on pointing the obvious, even if some don't want to see it.
However he can do that even from the bench. So that his votes are added to someone that actually has a long shot chance to win.

At least that is my take on the topic.

As I said the point of these whole primaries is to find a person that has best odds in going against Trump 1 on 1 (when the voting season starts). So once it gets 1 on 1 plenty of Trump's lead could melt. After all people who prefer other candidates tend to do that because they don't like Trump. So the person that will go 1 on 1 with him should get most of the votes of others. What is about 35-40% in average state. Plus legal problems in all of their dimensions and removal from ballots in some states (what means that Trump's opponent should win there).

Therefore this even isn't that much of a long shoot when you think about it.

Sum of recent polls in New Hampshire.

Trump 41%
Haley 30%
Christie 12%

So with Christie out of the picture something could actually happen here. Possibly with snowballing effect.
