How does one make the leap to money laundering? Fucking idiots. ;)

Because there are so many that opened in a short time and they're all empty.

I mean, I have bought a half dozen mattresses in the past decade or so and none of them have come from a physical store.

I'm re-reading 'Foucault's Pendulum' right now. It's very timely and very much in this vein; its theme sums up the top few levels of the pyramid nicely.

I think he's mad no one has answered his #walkaway thread.

Why would I answer it? I didn't walk away. Anyway, I didn't think the thread would go anywhere interesting. It seemed like the thread was set up to prove a point about the rational appeal of his way of conceptualizing politics.... which includes judging candidates based on whether or not they make your heart flutter. I guess I'm too much of a sheeple to understand such things.

It did have that vague feeling of something I might see published on Quillette. I enjoy some quillette pieces, but make no mistake there's definitely a slight right bias. Nothing nearly as blatant or obvious as breitbart, but it's still there.

This story is in the same sort of vein and apparently, the fourth white academic revealed to have posed as a person of color in recent weeks.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-s...who-posed-as-woman-of-color-and-bullied-women

“They put out this huge long thread about how they, as a woman of color in science, a professor, made a big change in their university by shutting down diversity, equity, and inclusion work,” Harris, who is white, told The Daily Beast.

Harris wasn’t the only person to make note of the thread, in which @piney_the claimed to have been “successful in killing my dept’s woke statement on recent social unrest.” The viral thread earned write-ups in conservative publications like RedState, which lauded the efforts to derail an anti-racism statement. Some academics were suspicious of the claims, coming from an anonymous professor at an unnamed university.

This rhetoric is obviously stupid, unfounded and if you need to go to these length to prove a made up social justice woke theory, you pretty much deserve whatever happens to you.

If there was accuracy to these claims, not simply right wing whacked opinion, much more would have been revealed by now. But this is how the right and conservatives handle it when their bullshit can't be proved or reproduced - with lies and threats and posing as a person of color. But it's so wonderful then they get caught and they eventually do most of the time..

The Mike Adams saga is also worth looking into.

If conservatives and right wingers don't like people telling them they are garbage humans, perhaps they should look at their spokespeople. This particular one killed himself so I do hope all the chuds that like to dismiss suicides do so in this case too - no favorites.

Although I realize the walkaway thread was quite baity I kinda waited to see anyone's take on why people are joining such a movement and how they felt about the points they made for why and what the democratic party could do to try and regain those people.

Although when I feel like walking away I always end up wanting to vote independent because I have never liked the republican party, to be honest. They have certain policy views I just cannot agree with. and often I find an independent with the conservative points I do like but all the social democratic policies I want.

The two party system is a mess.

What conservative points do you want? I mean I have never encountered an independent that wasn't actually a conservative and voted Republican or frankly, a libertarian that wasn't conservative to full on MAGA so I don't know why anyone would bother with voting independent. At least at the moment.

When this country adopts ranked voting, then independent would be a good option. And it looks like if enough people push for it, that will be the case.

Republicans don't want ranked voting because they know their policies suck and are hugely unpopular, in addition to being destructive to most people in this country.

I usually find barely on the ballot independents that are strong on border protections but huge on assisting those in need.

There are a few democratic points I struggle with which is what I will lay, rather than a list of conservative talking points because they usually bait this issues but do little about them.

Late term abortion: I honestly dislike abortion in general, but my mere personally wouldn't have one doesn't dictate another person. Nevertheless, I see abortion as fair in terms of rape or danger of life. If you are going to have one, I encourage it early. If you are 6 months along you might as well go to term and put the baby for adoption. At that point the fetus can feel pain, and I'm not okay with that.
Recreational drugs: I am very strongly against recreational drugs. I have seen addiction ruin the lives of extended family. I have an aunt who was found dead from a heroin OD. My grandmother went to her grave with no apologies for her wrongs she did. All this for booze and drugs. It destroys lives and we need to stop NORMALIZING THIS SHIT. We need to get these people real help so they can find happiness and kicks without drugs, not make tent cities or legalize it for greed purposes. I don't think they should spend a billion years in prison either though.
Border control: I am not for open borders. I am for vetting processes.
College: Honestly a huge annoyance I had with Hillary was listening to her debates, she wanted to offer free college to minorities. Which is great. But...why not everyone? Sometimes I feel like the democratic party thinks their entire voting block is people of color or immigrants, but considering my mother lives on disability and my father is nowhere in sight I would GREATLY benefit from free college and not spending my life paying a huge fucking debt like that back. So many people who are poor in general would benefit HUGE from this so if you're going to do free college please do it for EVERYONE.
Flaws in Justice Movements: Realign funds to support better programs but I do not believe in really fully removing police entirely. There will sadly always be some psychopath out there wanting to kill people and I would still like police around to investigate that. There needs to be changes in the way court systems handle victims of things like sexual assault but I don't want "believe the victim" to become the petty revenge party it is becoming, ruining innocent people's lives.
Transgender sports: They do have an advantage and it is not fair to female competitors.
Transgender issues in general: You are free to your gender expression, but I find it complicated when I see how these movements endorse people identifying as...animals, or people saying there are 62 genders. I reasonably follow trans, cis, and genderqueer (someone who possibly feels both genders or neither.). Otherwise, I guess I'm something-phobic because I don't see how identifying as a deer is anything but you needing therapy. and a lot of it. It has gone way too far.
My problem with their views of my own faith: Many modern leftists defend Islam, which I understand they face discrimination, but if you go to an islamic country they'd stone you for being gay and etc. They ignore that and act like Christianity is the absolute most disgusting thing. I can speak honestly, most people of my own faith do piss me off, but it is very hard that I cannot seem to use democrat and Christian in the same sentence without someone assuming I'm bullshitting them. It bugs me a great deal.
Minimum wage discussion: Unless you can prevent businesses from creating inflation to counter the $15 an hour wage, it is pointless to try and raise the minimum wage.

What about the mom and her life? There is no such thing as a late term abortion, that's a political, not medical, term. Baby is likely not going to survive due to massive defects. Labor is induced and mom needs to deliver a baby, that likely won't survive, on her own. Imagine how that in itself feels.

Baby is made comfortable then docs have a conversation about what measures the parent or parents want to take as far as life support or not. No one is murdering babies in labor and delivery on a whim - this comes from decades or Christian fanatical propaganda. But babies with disabilities do die. That's not the same as them being aborted. Maternal death rates are third world in many US states. But I rarely, if ever hear this being discussed so I would tell people to visit hospitals in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas... and see for themselves. CA is the only state so far to work to lower maternal death rates.

How Abortion Law in New York Will Change, and How It Won’t | The New Yorker

I went through this with my sister in law did about a decade ago. I got to witness what this was like and I truly despise the right for making this horrible experience worse for women, wanting to control women's choices made with their doctor or legislating reproductive choice (outlaw abortion AND birth control) while doing nothing for families.

I hope that you do a bit more reading about issues such as border vetting (has existed for decades) and tuition (Bernie proposed state and public colleges and universities free for all. Elites get to keep their institutions and maybe pay for them themselves) because a lot if it is just right talking points verbatim.

Initially I wavered, and was going to vote third party, then Biden. Now I've decided not to vote. None of them have earned it, none of them are deserving of my vote. Suck it
