Agreed. Additionally, I don't see the point of any of the R caucuses and frankly, don't know why the Dems would bother in the future. Nikki Haley was always auditioning for VP whether people believe that or not.

Yes, Democrats should just start their own campaign and that should be it. At this point Biden vs. Trump is unavoidable. The only wildcard left is health of both candidates. However betting on that is evidently a bad idea. In November there will be a rematch and that is it. Play the game as it was meant to be played and that is it.

The Gulf states are irredeemable.
This seems a bit politicised to me. I don't really see why it would be painful. The so called 'experts' criticizing it sound like a bunch of UN bureaucrats. In any event, it shouldn't be that hard to painlessly euthanize someone. Sedate them heavily first, then do whatever. This method seems a bit over exotic.

You live in Canada, right? Give me a break. Although you are slightly right about it being political since all these states are Republican run and have been for decades.

I mean the point was that in the end they are still doing the death penalty in Alabama (how exactly is less important). In other words the concept is completely banned in EU countries. Because after the Holocaust and the gulags the practice has simply become morally unacceptable. So even the local radicals don't advocate for it. The associations are just too dark.

That doesn't matter now and has never mattered to states with the death penalty. I mean the Holocaust doesn't matter - if it even happened at all. I lived in Mississippi for like 6 months - this is absolutely the way so many people think there. They feel capital punishment is willed by God and the bible and state politicians are some arm of God in this respect. People that walk around claiming to have a grasp on reality say shit like this regularly. No matter how many children have been executed, no matter how many innocent people have been executed, no matter how outsized POC have been executed historically or how insignificant a deterrent to crime. These are US style conservative, right wing, Republican people that absolutely love to kill others. I've never encountered much exception to this - it seems part and parcel of the ideology.

To be honest my comment wasn't random.
Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day, at least in Europe. It is marked on the day when Auschwitz was liberated in 1945.

So in Europe death penalty is closely associated with totalitarian side of history and it shouldn't be brought back ever again. This is exactly why Europe has so developed welfare state. What is In attempt to keep people from violent thoughts and crime. Since that could cause return of death penalty and from that isn't far away from certain very bad times that were few generations ago. This is because once you legally trivialize killing nationalisms of the continent can fire up the place again in no time. Especially since the odds are that someone will weaponize this mechanism sooner or later against certain groups. This is exactly why US accepted the idea to be major protector of the area, so that the nationalist show is never restarted (and in return US companies can play all over the playground). However US has gone weak over time due to mass outsourcing and other problems. While Europe is getting threatened from outside at this point, the combination of events that wasn't expected. So what will happen now is under one big question mark. Thus I hope that people channel their anger into something constructive. Even if it is something messy such as helping Ukraine.

I'm pro-death penalty, but that's a whole different can of worms. I just don't understand all the fuss (and seemingly over complicated solutions) about how to carry out the deed. I've had pets euthanized. They heavily sedate them first, then once they are out, overdose them. Seems both easy and painless. Why that wouldn't work for humans is beyond me. I mean you can carry out open heart surgery and the like on sedated patients. They don't wake up from pain. I think overdosing causes a heart attack, but the subject is not going to feel it.

Anyways, this is a tiny fish to fry. The media seems to just want to stir up a controversy.

Who’s ahead in the national polls?

This pretty nicely sums up my claim that there is no game plan beyond starting states in Republican primaries. The bluff failed and that is it.
Therefore there is no need to pretend that something will happen here. Thus it is time to fire up the main show that is general election ... and then what happens happens.

Agreed. To the surprise of pretty much no one. There was an outlying chance of a miracle, but that faded pretty quickly once the voting actually got under way (as opposed to the polling - which was not wrong, but can sometimes be suspect).

She evidently wants to have another shot, since her home state is next. What is kinda legit. But if she losses by about 30 points as the polls are suggesting she needs to stop. The problem is that if you force the issue you are basically pushing people towards Trump, since this practice will seem as unfair (and as another game by establishment). Plus Trump winning states by 30, 40 or 60 point margin evidently makes him look stronger in the end.

Regarding border security and Trump not supporting a border security bill getting passed: "Trump feels safe doing this because he knows his base is not going to research anything".

LOL.

Also, I've seen the alligator videos! I hope the newly discovered coral reef isn't all bleached.

I thought the intended foreign policy shift was to pivot away from the Middle East and focus on Asia, not Africa. This was during the Obama administration, though. Perhaps this is old news.

Update:
Because it's farther down, deep-sea reefs don't have the same problem with coral bleaching, coral that turns white from stress from environmental changes such as climate change and recent record-high temperatures, leaving them susceptible to disease or starvation.

Addendum to my previous post in a different thread: the news is important because you can learn more context behind the things you hear about through other channels, including some of the stories mentioned in the video above. The context gives you more to work with and can allow you to be more confident going forward as the story develops further. They can cause you to notice some curious things that you can keep an eye on as things evolve.

Update:
No. It has been and always was going to be Africa. Think back to the news from the70's, 80's, and 90's It's always been there in the background. The novel Congo is literally about it and that was set in 1979. Raw Resources that the tech industry runs on. Its there. The Middle East has had a straw in it over gas but with the changing over to clean energy, the resources for that tech lies guess where? Africa is the new Milkshake. That's why you see commercials for donating to starving kids in Africa instead of India, Indonesia, or hell in Chicago for that matter. But take a look back through old news posts of the last 40 years. Cold War never ended, just changes theaters and how it gets covered. Its a long and subtle road winding through long cons and short intense distractions, the pieces kept and keep on getting placed, the shills keep on shilling, the auidience either pays attention to the show or they miss it and... *sigh* and the beat goes on...

If you'll try to refrain, I have this to explain, my boy, our lifeline is the wind and the rain...
Baby can you dig your man? He's a righteous man, Baby can you dig your man.
