Honestly....you think simply because I ask a lot of questions to get the big picture and try to fully understand the situation means I should re-look at my type? Just based on one line I wrote, on one behavior of mine? I fail to see the logic. I also fail to see why asking questions = not INFJ. Putting myself aside, INFJ's who I know in real life ask a lot of questions, do a lot of listening, and do not dive in with advice/input until they have a good grasp of what's going on.

Now if you read all 600+ of my posts and still think I'm way off, THEN maybe we can talk.

Not to suggest the ENFP is not equally capable of parsing layers of deceit; the INFJ simply tends to internalize external "pollution" and engineer malady into personal vendetta beyond what I've understood to be typical ENFP traction.

I've also noticed a curious ability to abstract logic beyond what most might presume.

My illustrations are paid to RL INFJs.

One of the strongest logical minds I've ever had the pleasure of meeting is an INFJ. His expertise expands into many areas - both humanistic and rationale. He is a systems analyst for a major corporation and is an executive participant in local charities that seek to benefit the homeless with education programs and occupational tutelage as to correct the oft-perpetual cycle of recidivism.

Another INFJ to which I've the pleasure of company is a female friend.

She is very active politically and is, at times, a powerfully-outspoken critic of ideals that do not match her own. Brilliant in speech (a surgeon's touch with word selection) and thoughtful in conversation, she's more of a stereotypical INFJ, paying closest personal attention to all-matters humane.

Were I to offer a critique, it would be, for all her open-mindedness, she can sometimes backhand naysayers without careful examination of their ideals. Her strength of perspective can occasionally take her keen awareness to the wrong conclusion; a rarity, yet still a potential emotional node for improvement.

does anyone know a sure-fire way to spot the difference between an enfp and an infj? an enfp in a bad mood can easily be more pedantic and introverted than an infj; and a downed infj can undoubtedly be more reckless and outgoing than an enfp would normally be.

thus, letters aside, anyone who has any golden clues on how to spot the difference in a heartbeat - or three?

Here's an excellent site for INFJs by Vicky Jo titled, ahem, INFJ . She's a Type Specialist w/ other qualifications. Here's The INFJ Handbook page as it explains our behaviour in greater detail. I know that INFJs specifically speak in conversation with aims for 'closure' (not that we're all bossy lol). Not to end a conversation with 'closure' but to finish one 'thought' and go to another. If I'm distracted out of a thought while trying to speak, it's likely gone forever lol Of if there's too many people speaking, it's chaotic, I can't focus on a single thread and so I'll just observe (ppl mistake that for shyness. I'm just irritated I can't go w/in/or amused). Or I can get caught up with people's emotions (though I'll check-in sometime during to make sure I'm not going overboard 'upset' 'happy' 'sad' for them). If I'm enthusiastic about something I've learned in depth and have become confident in displaying that knowledge or I'm just passionate about it, whoaa, I'm all talk!

INFJ's have a harder time verbalizing their thoughts (in speech, but not necessarily in print). ENFP's can be oblivious to risky situations, but I don't think you'll find that in an INFJ

I wonder that so many people keep saying that we have problems verbalizing our thoughts. I'd say it depends on the situation and familiarity w/ the knowledge of the topic and familiarity/comfort of the people at hand. It's about 'knowing' what/how to say and how to come across to whom appropriately in various situations (which we think out waaay in advance "just in case" we might be caught off guard). We're just cautious that way lol If I'm unsure on how to behave in front of others, it may seem as though I either am quiet or I'm 'thinking' more than speaking because I'm 'gathering' my thoughts. I don't feel comfortable OR I can't find that "perfect" word which is on the tip-of-tongue-phenomenom!!!!! If I know the subjects well and have spoken/thought on great length about them, it's easy figuring out what I want to say. I wouldn't say it's lack of eloquence as to just not 'knowing' what to say at the moment if not given enough time to sort it all out and having confidence in what's going to be said (if said at all lol).

.....Then again, that may have been what you meant but just didn't flesh out your thoughts So it was hard for me to know for sure what you meant I'm too used to reading that some people believe INFJs incapable of verbalizing as meaning "to not speak well" and are just capable of writing well. Sure, writing is very easy too, probably easier, as there's no interruptions! Now as to verbalizing something particularly 'sacred'/emotionally upsetting/happy to me? That's HARD! And I'm unlikely to tell someone those precious/hurtful/happier things anyway. Only the Highest and Most Trusted few will know...and rarely at the time w/e is happening to me as I'm unsure how to tell them and even when eventually I do!

I don't know about that. I know that interaction styles and function-attitudes and real life back my assertion, but hey, maybe I'm missing something.

ENFPs have really nice highs and amazing lows. They're more inclined to express it, rather than INFJs that feel like they should keep it to themselves. Another thing, is that ENFPs are reallyoptimistic people. Where as I am really not, but that could just be me. ENFPs like helping out, and you can see that they are truly interested in the cause. You can also see them being really friendly/excited/social around people they don't know, and this something INFJs keep for their select few.

Again this is off, my INFJ-ness so...

I would say that ENFP's talk much more than INFJ's in real life and the conversation is not seemingly linear or logical (in T-way).

So ENFP's start from one thing, jump to another subject, jump to another subject, jump to another subject and at the end notice that the conversation has ended up somewhere totally different. At the end it is difficult to say how the conversation got there where it ended. Even the ENFP might be puzzled her/himself.

I have experienced this repeatedly during last 30+ years.

that does not mean that INFJ's and INFP's are incompatible

it means that you got into a fight with someone on the internet
please do not chalk it up to 4 letters

and......the two terms " strict " and " bold " are similar to each other
" yet " connects two or more contradictory things
