I've never been a fan of the T/F questions on this test (the old and new one), but other than that I thought the test was ok.

Agreed. It makes thinkers sound like sociopaths and feelers like delicate little flowers.

I also think the T/F questions are a bit off base.

I think the J/P division is handled poorly with this test.

Hmmmm, it gives me INFJ

I, 31%, moderate
N, 47%, moderate
F, 25%, moderate
J, 3%, marginal or no preference

I still say it's an improvement over the original test because you can choose the degree of preference or no preference.

The degree of preference is nice, I agree. I wish they'd actually put thought into creating better questions though. While I still find the T/F especially poor, I have never liked the test and think most of the questions are behavioral or super cliche, extreme dichotomy stereotypes, which isn't great at all for testing how you process and think.

otoh maybe it's a good test because it demonstrates most of humanity isn't very extreme on 1+ preferences?

Nah, you're all good.:)

I've been thinking about this some more, and am leaning towards my most recent comment, of 'otoh maybe it's a good test because it demonstrates most of humanity isn't very extreme on 1+ preferences?'.

And I was also thinking right after I posted yesterday, that maybe the questions aren't terrible, I mean after all, I know there are definitely people who would strongly identify with them, and feelers who would very much relate to all of the feeling questions. Mbti is all about dichotomies after all, it's all about you are X, or else Y. I think people get disappointed if they're people who don't feel like they super strongly relate to one or the other. They then may think the test sucks, but in reality, the test might be fine for what it is, maybe it's just the system itself that isn't as universal as people wish it to be.

Re F questions, obviously they get Fe dom down pretty well!!

I always get ISTP on this test. It's those 'You easily empathize with other people's problems.' and similar questions that make me score high on thinking. Usually I try to sympathize with other people and give them advice, but mostly I can't help seeing the person's own faults and how they're to blame for the problem they're having.

I long for the day someone makes a test with actual, fully descriptive events and then a list of actions all representing a different function, rather than extremely vague statements up to all sorts of interpretations.

edit: ... wow. I am actually surprised at how accurate the typing was, considering how bleh the test was.

I'm retaking this because the first time I took it was during class while I was only halfway paying attention. See if I get a different result.

I got the same result as last time.
