essay about jungian typology/mbti/etc

so i recently started a psychology course at open university and it happened to start with personality psychology. we were given option where instead of doing an exam of the books we read/lectures, we are allowed to make essay about something related to personality psychology. im considering of doing one about jungs typology and other typologies that are built on jungs model, like mbti, socionics, keirseys etc. it needs to be 16 pages long, so there isnt enough room to make descriptions of types, but i got few topics to write about in mind:

-introducing the functions
-function usage/roles and their effect on types, how different types use same functions. not going to do this for every type, but was thinking of using an example on one type or two types that i would compare
-interaction with different types and how different function usage can cause misunderstanding or "natural" understanding of other person
-why different types use their natural function, like why INTP uses TiNeSiFe, and not TiNiSeFi for example. also adding some criticism/pondering on why/if Fi in INTP(for example) is not real usage of Fi and if its really Fe+Ti working together or if it can be real Fi, but most the times its just introverting Fe using Ti
-about strong functions vs function roles
-differences between jungs work, mbti, socionics, keirseys model etc. (what parts work in some typologies and what doesent)
-problems on testing the types
-what they are useful for

the essay should be mostly about writing about other peoples work and not too much of self theorizing, so the subjects should be something that i could find some writings(and their sources) about.

anyone got some ideas for more topics i could write about?

I think you could have some sort of introduction that makes it clear this is no new thing to type people. Take the oldest type related things, like the body humors and astrology and archetypes. Personally I find it interesting that in times when there was no career choices or anything like that, people were supposed to get married to anyone their parents thought was good for them and so on, still, there was sort of a typology. It's like, even if the basic structure of the social life was saying that everyone will do what their father did, and everyone will stay inside their caste and keep the tradition going on, still there was the idea that people are not the same as their parents or their social circle. In a way it seems like there always was the idea that we are unique, no matter how our lives may be identical to those of our parents.

en meinannu typologian historiasta kamalasti jauhaa kun se tuli jo ekalla luennolla selväks että toi on vanha juttu. muutenki meinasin pysytellä ihan vaan tossa jungin typologiassa ja noissa mitkä perustuu siihen, menee muuten ihan liian laajaks

No, jos Jungin typologia on kokonaisuudessaa se mitä "Psychological Types" kattaa, ni ei siinä nyt loppujen lopuks oo kovinkaa paljo. Lähinnä se vaa perustelee sitä miks yleensäkään on olemassa mitään eri tyyppejä. Jos siihe kirjaan keskityt ni saat olla aika tarkkana ettet sekota Myersin tulkintoja ja sitä mitä Jung oikeesti sano. Tavallaan kuka tahansa joka tietää jo Myersin tai Keirseyn ja menee taaksepäin Jungiin on jo niin perillä siitä mihin nää tyypit on sen typologian muokannu, että vaikee ajatella sitä Jungin alkuperäistä ajatusta itsenäisenä.

joo mut siis meinasin kirjottaa jotain tosta mitä jung sano ja sit siitä mitä noi muut on lisäilly sen töihin. siis tarkotus ei ole kirjottaa jungin typologiasta pelkästään, vaan jungilaisesta typologiasta yleisesti, eli siis mbti, sosioniikka yms. joo ja pitäähän noi jungin sanomiset erottaa selvästi siitä esim mitä mbti kertoo. meinasin et jos kirjottais vaikka jungin näkemyksistä eka ja siitä sitten jatkais sillä mitä muut on lisänny siihen soppaan. esim kertois vaikka miten jung määritteli N ja S funktiot ja toiseen osaan jatkais sillä mitä muut sanoo niiden vuorovaikutuksesta yms mitä jung ei käsittele

Luulen myös että Jungin asenne tähä on aika erilainen kuin näitten seuraajien. Aika monet Jungin ajatukset pyörii jossaa mystiikan rajoilla. Saattaa olla ihan hyödyllistä kattoa niitä siltä näkökannalta. Tavallaa pitää ajatella niitä tyyppejä samalla tapaa kuin Jungin arkkityyppejä. Myers ja Keirsey ainakii otti paljo maanläheisemmän tavan käsitellä niitä samoja asioita jotka Jung on nähny jotenkii ehkä enemmän niiku koko historian läpi jatkuvina arkkityyppisinä lokeroina, joihi ihmiset mukautuu tietämättään. Ainakii mulla on semmonen fiilis sen teksteistä että ne tyypit on jotaa eri juttua kuin vaan sitä että "ihmiset syntyy erilaisina ja ne voidaan jakaa näihin lokeroihin".

emt, noi arkkityypit menee vähän ohi tosta sen typologiasta. lähinnä meinasin keskittyä ihan vaan noihin mitä noi funktiot on, miten ne vaikuttaa persoonallisuuteen ja niiden rooleista eri tyypeillä yms. niinku kirjottais oikeestaan pelkästään(ainaki melkein) jungin teorioista sen mikä on kantautunu noihin muihin typologioihin
