Draghi dangles resignation, just when Europe needs him

Long story short: if things go seriously south in Italy that will create domino effect that will seriously mess up global economy. Italy for a long time is one of the biggest "bombs" on the economic map of the world. Therefore much was done that it doesn't go off since that calls into the question the entire EU economy in financial and legal way. So if that happens it's 17 Trillion economy could/should disintegrate. What evidently will drive all supplychains globally off the cliff, since they are already a complete mess as it is. However everything that is going on may just be too much for the system, especially if local politics falls apart completely and there is no one at the helm.

Good summary. I was a bit surprised that flu vaccination rates are higher in the East because their Covid vaccination rate is much lower - but maybe that's because they basically semiconsciously still trust their good old big brother Russia.

But it leaves out a few important points. The cultural differences (like the role of civil society, the relationship between citizens and state, etc but also the absence of the '68 movement and its sociopolitical liberalisation) might be hard to do in just a few minutes, but when he mentions net migration and the population in the East being older (and containing fewer foreign migrants) than the population in the West he skips over the part where that migration from East to West concerns women more than men. That means that the East is literally populated by old white men. It's especially educated young women moving to the West and less educated men being left behind. In both East and West women tend to be more mobile and flock to the cities and wealthier regions while men tend to be more stationary, even when their old hometown/village becomes less and less attractive.

(men per 100 women in 2018 - this is for all age groups, the difference is even greater among young adults ... you know, those about to found families)

However, from what I have been reading the differences between East and West slowly diminish. The main division these days is between rural and urban (where roughly urban takes up the role of the old West and rural that of the East).

EU prepares for Russia to cut off gas supply over sanctions

This will be messy on the short run but there will be evident decoupling in just about everything. The trust in Russia is completely destroyed in most parts of EU, especially when it comes to ruling class. Therefore if Russia cuts off gas completely there will surely be new iron curtain. Since it will again take a change of generations to remake any trust. It will be much further to the east but it will be there.

Well, towards Russian worldview there is no fundamental controversy in being vaccinated. However COVID proved to be a good political tool to rise hell in developed countries. Plus the vaccines were made in the west, what is a no for some people. This is why Slovakia imported some of the Russian vaccines, since some older people didn't want a western one.

However regarding women I will just have to trust you. However this amount of difference between genders around the country is both absurd and unhealthy.

Never let an opportunity, disaster, catastrophe, or exploitation go to waste, a fear or hope ignored is an opportunity for attempted narrative control lost...and in the big international poker game where everyone is cheating...waste not. Everything is potential capitol...especially if you can manufacture an angle that offers both hope and fear in equal measures. Distractions and disasters; delicious things that almost everyone eagerly devours no matter how much they complain about the taste and smell of death.

North Macedonia takes step toward starting EU accession talks

North Macedonia: Parliament approves deal to start EU bid

It seems that this finally started to move. North Macedonia will pay this in a way that isn't cheap but for now that is perhaps still a better option. Since now the top issue is how to pull the country away from Russian influence. Especially since pro Russians are actively sabotaging the process on both Macedonian and Bulgarian side. The pro western Bulgarian PM was basically removed just over this issue. The North Macedonia is the newest NATO member but it still has a long way of fully fitting into the Euro-Atlantic standards and organizations. However since this is country with just 2 million people that bringing into the fold shouldn't be too hard to do. However that would close it's space for Russian and Chinese direct control, which they are trying to establish there for a long time They almost made a open dictatorship out of the country but somehow that failed and now the dictator is hiding abroad. Not to mention that they organized storming of the parliament a few years back, where leader of the pro western club was almost killed (he was heavily injured). Plus this should unblock Albania that should travel together with North Macedonia into EU (since EU wants it that way). I mean Albania is neighboring country that also has 2 million people, is already in NATO and it needs to be pulled deeper into the western block and democratic thinking. In the big picture the entire south eastern Europe has to be brought into the Euro-Atlantic organizations, since otherwise that is an enclave and playground for Russia and China. Therefore if that is solidified you will have a clear border with Russia at the east and that will be it. Since that would evidently make things easier in strategic sense, because you will not have unclear region inside your borders and sphere of influence.
