Yesterday as I was walking my sons to our van after school, I had a weird conversation with Beast Boy. I probably didn't handle it very well. :whistling:

BB: Mom, can I cut off your head with a pickaxe?
Me: No. The blade would be too narrow. You'd need a battle axe.
BB: Can I cut off your head with a battle axe?
Me: Yes, but I wouldn't advise it.
BB: May I cut off your head with a battle axe?
Me: No.
BB: Aaawwww!

I think my brief stint playing Runescape warped my maternal sensibilities. :nerd:

Heh. Don't let him read Jabberwocky next, perhaps.

I think you handled it quite well. One day he may very well own a battle axe, and by saying no, you will not be held to any promises that you may not want to go through with.

I think I was supposed to be shocked and say something like "That's horrible! How could you say such a thing to your own mother?!" or something like that and maybe cry.

You did handle it well. I think I would have freaked out because it would be so out of character coming from any of my kids.

I will say though our son does say some outlandish things that might shock the average person, but we are mellow about since we're used to him.

You are so understanding mother.
I would have said No straight away.

Or then I would have played a imaginary game with him where he could have cut my hand off and I would have been palyed along. Who knows?

COOL
My parents have similar stories about myself, so your son would have so got on well with me, when I was little.

P.S Don't let him cut off your head with a battle axe or a pickaxe. Otherwise, I won't be able to read your posts anymore.;)

He loves to get a reaction, so I guess over time I've become conditioned not to react to things I don't want repeated? I don't know.

I normally don't react a lot, but I make a point to tell him not to go to school saying stuff like that because there have been kids that have done really bad, violent things at schools and hurt people so they get kind of freaked out about that kind of thing. I tell him I know he wouldn't hurt anyone (he's really the least violent of all my kids ), but that you just can't tell with people.

I didn't do the disclaimer that time because it was too funny.

Fortunately, we don't have so much as a hatchet around here, so my head should be reasonably safe.

this made my day!!!! I hope i have a kid who'll ask me that.

My answer:

Well, you can try...............or I can show you some other people who you can kill. They're the ones who really deserve it. Now which do you choose, son? lol
