I daydream about having a timeshare in Acapulco sometimes. This is YEARS off...but the thought keeps coming back up that maybe one day it would be nice to have a timeshare.

I wouldn't do it because I'd get tired of going to the same place year after year.

You can trade them and go a different place every year. They are also more spacious than hotel rooms. The disadvantage is you are stuck paying a maintenance fee every year and you are limited to staying at a place you are allowed to trade into. Places you can trade into are limited by how valuable your place is to trade and you don't have as much selection on when you go. You could probably rent through VRBO and have more flexibility. If you buy one new, they are notorious for very high sales fees. Buying one used would probably be more sensible. Pros and cons.

Money wise no...that being said i never regretted owning one. Spent about $40-50k on one. Pretty much every vacation i had was at a resort rooms size of medium to large apartments. Took atleast 2 a year. Parents have one and they dont regret. It was a poonts poonts based system. Ex used it to vacation in a nice house in a wooded area.

Basically it was a monetary commitment to go on vacations and for us it worked
