Am I a girl, or am I a woman?

I suspect I am a girl, but how will I know when I'm a woman? Can I just stay a little girl my whole life? These past 8 or 9 months I have changed so much... I'm not sure I would recognise myself, if past me met present me.

I can sort of understand how that is.

Right now I've been afraid of growing up. I'll have to do it sometime, though.

You are growing up.
I'm happy for you.

I went through a lot of psychological changes around the time that I turned 21.
I felt totally different when it was over!

Sometimes I'm still a girl and I'm twice as old as you. But sometimes I have to be a grown up and I turn to my husband and say, "Being a grown up sucks."

At 27, we're really amazing. Very womanish, much wiser, very beautiful (even if you don't believe it).

At 40, I felt truly myself. Completely legitimate. I'm just a little over 5 feet, so I finally felt that other people saw me as a mature adult.

I would do 27 & 40 over and over again and never get sick of it.

I think it's hard to tell when a human is a "grown-up". I find myself waiting for some flip of a switch in my head that tells me I'm an adult; but the more people I meet, the more I begin to think it doesn't happen like that.
