It's pretty bad for a "movement" when more white people show up to protest it than march in it.

In the same vein - this happened last week.

VIDEO: Black Lives Matter Activists Lead Protest For White Man Killed In Lansing Police Custody | The Crusader Newspaper Group

It took a long time for this video to surface, much like the Army officer in VA that was maced and kicked - 5 months for that to come out. But it's shitty that it takes videos to validate what people are saying however, we have yet another FTP Minneapolis moment on our hands. Why cops need to draw guns on unarmed traffic stops, even ones that flee, is beyond me.

scaredy cops cost more lives than they save...

The spring is here and therefore the melt of the Arctic. However this seems to be progressing faster than usual this year and therefore we are at around record lows for the mid April.
However with so many areas in the melt we will probably fall into record low territory for this part of the year. After all we are currently only at something like 100.5% of the record low for mid April.

I could have sworn someone once (a couple years ago?) had a bad reaction to me saying Democrats are the majority and have been for years - which I'd assumed because Republicans have lost every popular vote since ...what, late 80s?

Anyway, according to Gallup poll, they are now down to 25%.

I see a more independents and this poll also sees the same. But I find that to simply be right wing lite in most cases. Libertarian's - they're not independent anything and how many self-identified ones were part of 1/6? All kinds of reactionary emoting for the party of "logic". lol

When it comes down to it - no party would need to gerrymander, suppress votes, and attempt to overthrow the government if they were increasing in numbers, as some claim the GOP is. However, I would venture to say the number of non-voters is growing, this doesn't bode well for any party. Look at MO - they voted to expand Medicaid in that state and the GOP legislature simply said - fuck your votes...

Missouri Republicans block funds for Medicaid expansion | The Kansas City Star

No real point in voting if this shit continues to happen all over the place.

"Conservatism" is no Longer Enough - The American Mind

I’m really referring to the many native-born people—some of whose families have been here since the Mayflower—who may technically be citizens of the United States but are no longer (if they ever were) Americans. They do not believe in, live by, or even like the principles, traditions, and ideals that until recently defined America as a nation and as a people. It is not obvious what we should call these citizen-aliens, these non-American Americans; but they are something else.

So I, and millions of others are not American according to this fascist chud. Another example of the fantasy America the right inhabits.

The Claremont Institute churns out West Cost Straussans like Ben Shapiro, Mark Levin, Jack Posobiec - all right wing trolls, all white supremacists (I don't give any of them the right to rebrand as nationalists). The American Mind is published by Claremont.

This propaganda is really something to be aware of as time goes on - very fash friendly (as are most conservatives at this point), white (frequently Jewish, they don't seem to make the connection between JEWS WILL NOT REPLACE US and Claremont), touted as "intellectuals" with huge platforms.

I am only part way through the video, but it is the first time I've actually seen Milo speak. I wanted to punch him pretty much immediately. I don't think even in that period when I embraced centrism I would have really gone for any of that. He's like a dumb guy people might think is smart just because of his accent.

Edit: This whole video is pretty good.

I wasn’t aware of those particular clips of him. Calling out that trans student by name and proceeding to bully them and encourage bullying by fellow students was pretty vile stuff. That’s crossing over from free speech into outright harassment, at which point I think one forfeits their right to free speech. And it’s funny how people on the right get bent out of shape over call out culture yet may have no problem with this type of behavior

I could get behind simply making up shit to cancel, just to keep them in a wound up state indefinitely.

ceecee: I think that the attitude at the Claremont Intsitute can be summarized by the phrase from the novel The Leopard by G.T. di Lampedusa: Se vogliamo che rimanga tutto com'è, bisogna che tutto cambi. "If we want everything to remain the same, everything must change."

Good grief. And the Republicans claim to be the party of "less government". If you are a corporation, maybe, but they seem to be leading the charge for government to tell ordinary folks how to live their lives.

So the Republicans now, officially, have a white supremacist caucus.

https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/gop-s-new-america-first-caucus-follows-some-blatantly-white-n1264361

Kevin Krause is a historian and I think it's helpful for people to understand that none of what is happening now ^^ is new, it's been tried in the US before. The National Origins Act of 1924 was also the inspiration behind some of the eventual legality of the Holocaust so that is the road we are on. And if you stand up to be counted with them or Republicans in general at this point - this is what you are supporting. But I have yet to see one of them truly break off from the rest of the right wing sheep so until that happens, this is what they're allowing their party to become. Racist, nativist, white supremacist's. Maybe that will be enough to stop people from voting from them - it's certainly working as far as religious affiliation is concerned.

GOP'''s new '''America First Caucus''' follows in some blatantly white nationalist footsteps

I haven't read a whole lot about this yet (because these 'people' are disgusting pigs and I get too depressed reading about their bullshit) but I did catch something about how they want government to regulate "Big Tech." I look forward to reading the twisted, fucked up rationalization for that (because it goes against their sociopathic, unfettered adulation of the magically self-correcting Free Market) when I have the stomach for it.

It looks like they're pulling it back but this is a Trump tactic - put something out there then claim their idea is misinterpreted/they're being misrepresented and so on, reintroducing racist AF idea a month from now. But I will say there are a whole lot of people that have no idea who the Anglo-Saxons were and that they had nothing to do with America at all. Not in tradition, governance or culture. At. All. It's yet another a myth conservatives/right wingers/Republicans tell themselves.

Anglo-Saxons were also immigrants and invaders but the right isn't at all prepared for that conversation.

I know Marjorie Three Names is backpedaling, but I decided to read it anyway.

As this implies a degree of ideological flexibility, a certain intellectual boldness is needed amongst members of the AFC to follow in President Trump’s footsteps, and potentially step on some toes and
sacrifice sacred cows for the good of the American nation. Policy areas as far ranging as foreign intervention, economic development, immigration, trade, tech regulation and social policy need to be re-examined from the ground up to ensure that what remains keeps the interest of Americans at heart.

I wasn't expecting it to be this funny. Imagine anyone taking that sentence seriously. (Although I guess it's a good time to remember that exactly half the population is necessarily below average intelligence).
