And then almost all of typo c let out a groan like Kiff from Futurama, as they realized stig's joke tweet would probably actually come true. Thus the fly was no longer funny.

eta: yeah nevermind, it's still funny.

NYT just posted a video of the fly landing to the moment it took off.

This is reminding me of the Mr. Show sketch about the president farting. (Can't find it on YouTube).

Maybe it’s his little friend and goes everywhere with him. Buzzing and reminding him not to be seated at a dinner table alone with a woman. Giving him encouragement to be godlier

The first thought that came to mind is 'shit for brains' because shit is what flies are attracted to. Pence was in an indefensible position through no fault of his own. If anything, he has served as a voice of reason under an awful president. He must have felt he is selling out during that debate.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's no fault of his own. He knew what Trump was when he signed on. Maybe he didn't know the potential of what Trump would become, but he knew enough. He signed up for it, and he remains complicit.

(And the first thing I thought of was Renfield, Dracula's mindless lackey who had flies kinda swarm around his head).

Republicans shocked when the agenda is more or less the same as it was under Bush, same as it would’ve been under McCain or Romney.

I don’t understand. Explain what suddenly changed? Is it that old school country club republican mindset? That uber polite, respectful facade that just doesn’t jibe with Trump’s drunken black sheep uncle antics? Explain the 180 when the base ideology has changed little in 20 years.

He is one of the biggest sycophants I have seen in my life:(

The new week is starting so lets see where we are by 538.

Alaska: Trump +5.8
Arizona: Biden +3.4
Colorado: Biden +11.7
Florida: Biden +2.9
Georgia: Biden +0.6
Iowa: Trump +1.4
Maine 2nd: Biden +3.6
Michigan: Biden +6.9
Minnesota: Biden +9.1
Missouri: Trump +6.4
Montana: Trump +8.3
Nebraska 2nd: Biden +5.8
Nevada: Biden +6.0
New Hampshire: Biden +9.5
North Carolina: Biden +1.4
Ohio: Biden +0.7
Pennsylvania: Biden +6.0
South Carolina: Trump +5.7
Texas: Trump +2.4
Virginia: Biden +11.3
Wisconsin: Biden +6.8

Few days later.

Alaska: Trump +4.7
Arizona: Biden +4.4
Colorado: Biden +12.8
Florida: Biden +4.6
Georgia: Biden +1.0
Iowa: Biden +0.9
Maine 2nd: Biden +0.9
Michigan: Biden +7.7
Minnesota: Biden +8.8
Missouri: Trump +5.8
Montana: Trump +8.9
Nebraska 2nd: Biden +6.6
Nevada: Biden +6.6
New Hampshire: Biden +9.8
North Carolina: Biden +2.5
Ohio: Biden +0.7
Pennsylvania: Biden +6.9
South Carolina: Trump +5.2
Texas: Trump +1.1
Virginia: Biden +12.1
Wisconsin: Biden +6.9

In short: if the polls come true this will be a landslide.
538 towards these numbers gives Trump on 16% chance of win. (since his only path are the polls that are even more wrong than the last time)

Trump says he’s running for a second term to defeat socialism, even though socialist institutions are currently all that's sustaining the country.

So is he going to commit to the second debate or not, after the latest outburst over it going virtual?

I guess a virtual format means his feed could be turned off if he becomes too outrageous. Alas. So either we'll have a tamer Trump or Joe will just be giving a speech to the US.

I mean, he only has himself to blame. He infected a huge number of WH staff and we don't even know the total number, among the actual debate outbursts. Going virtual is a reasonable response regardless.

Perfectly stated. With the caveat that it'd sure sustain more/help a lot of people if they unshelved the pandemic assistance they stopped working on. You know, the one supposedly designed to help individuals and small businesses that'll happen after the election is Trump is re-elected (even though he's been capable this whole time and for some strange reason hasn't done it yet).

The thing I find most unsettling is that Pence seems to be onboard Operation Refuse To Leave. He refused to commit to a peaceful transition, and apparently doesn't believe current polls. "I know in my heart Trump will win this election." And unlike Trump, he's actually confabulated a (still pure bullshit, but calm and less moronic/hysterical bullshit) reason that supporters who still believe Russian interference is/was a "hoax" will likely latch onto and regurgitate endlessly as their own talking point about it. Even though it's 100% fantasy. The impeachment was never about "undoing the election."
