One thing that can confuse me about 9s is that sometimes they come across as much angrier than I'd expect. Like an 8 or cf 6. Makes me wonder if there's some sort of phobic/counterphobic split with type 9.

that's a good point. there can be a definite dark side to 9, at least from what i've experienced. i kind of associate it with Fi in some weird way.

I think 9 is Si and 9s' pent up rage is just repressed Se, which is Si.

So 9s are just reverting to their shadow Se function under stress when their normal self can no longer cope with that stress. 9 acting out like an 8.

Would that mean Ti = repressed Te and Fi = repressed Fe?

Fi = I am not defined by others? Or others cannot dictate me how to feel about things? Or I don't care about how others would feel if my values/actions do not align with theirs?

it's ok, maybe you are a 9 and the second thing in the tritype is 7, no? it doesn't matter, it's just a question of strength of function, you're still part of the family

PS: didn't you say one time that you thought you were 7 because that was the description that made you the most embarassed? remember that?

if you are a 9, you are likely Sx/So as opposed to Sx/Sp. Social 9s are the most upbeat and active of the 9s (Chestnut gives them the theme of Participation) and can look a lot like 7s.

congratulations on finding your type (I have been reconsidering my own 7 status, so it seems I'm not alone :alltongue: ). what cued you off to make the switch?

Yeah but I've avoided type 9 for forever because i don't feel conflict avoident and i feel like i have pretty defined sense of self...i don't feel like i have any doormat tendencies

but the way in which i check out of reality is much more 9 like...then 7 or any other type. i often feel like I'm barely here...or that I'm just apart of the breeze...or melded with the ambience somehow

however my mind is busy...i don't feel like i have a quiet mind...but i am often peaceful...blah...

i don't have time atm to actually post what I'm trying to say

The way I've been experiencing this site lately...it makes perfect sense that X is a mistyped 7. Congrats on 9 X. I'm glad you found your correct type.
