ISFPs and INFPs - do you do this?

ISFP: Please, for the love of all that is holy, stop texting me random things you are seeing as you drive because you are bored driving alone. I don't care that you just drove by a hill, or that you saw some hot guy riding a bicycle. No... NO MORE PICTURES OF YOUR FOOD.

I laughed out loud when I saw this post and repped Saturned immediately because my ISFP best friend from high school does this compulsively ... and then, this afternoon, I called someone while walking to CVS because I was bored ... and I rambled on and on about trees and clouds and this yellow fire hydrant (OMG why isn't it red???) the whole way.

So obviously, I came back home and immediately changed my type to reflect this revelation.

But anyway, INFPs, do you also do this? Or is this sort of "MY FOOD PORN, LOOK AT IT" behaviour more of an ISFP quirk? Poll responses and qualitative responses alike would be appreciated.

I don't beleive I do this I mean I usually show off silly pictures I found online to my family members (despite their annoyance ) and I tend to retale people funny things in an obtrusive manner for shits and giggles. However if I had a decent working camera I suppose I might be more inclined to take pictures of beautiful nature things and show them off to others. Would that count?

Also, whether this is Fi, Se, or Ne related, I do not know.

No, that's not it, precisely. What I'm describing is more of a "Oh, I'm walking somewhere and I just saw a puppy, I have to tell someone RIGHT NOW" thing. It's pretty in-the-moment and I'll totally have forgotten about it five minutes later, but if I see a pretty pink cloud and want to rip out a piece and make it into a puffy skirt for myself, I want to share it!

Then again, my INTP friend and I do that too. The only difference would be the nature of the fluff.

I think it might be the nature of the things involved. I'm usually pretty happy to share tangible things I see and like but I usually like to mull over more abstract ideas before tossing them out there. I guess that might have more to do with levels of intellectual confidence than with functions though.

Yesh indeed. We don't do the tangible things as much as the random thoughts. If we do happen to notice things in the environment, it's highly possible that that thing has been there for a long time but we never saw it due to general obliviousness. O.O

Well, I've walked down this path twice a week for the eight months. I still get lost on it and am likely noticing things that have been there long before I was (that yellow fire hydrant didn't look new) ... so I dunno?

I think the difference can be if there is a choice, which is preferred? (Being random about the world around you or being random about whatever weird crap lives inside your head baking cookies.)

Going out with my ISFP friend is like asking to have a free running commentary on life as we live it. This past summer she came to visit me for 2 weeks. Driving became the 6th circle of hell for me.

"oooh! Look! a hill! I bet you could go sledding down it! OMG There is a TREE AT THE TOP! Ohh and there is a bird flying to the tree. Hey now you're turning right onto that other road. Ooh, there are FLOWERS by this road!!!! OMG HOT GUY MOTORCYLE OTHER LANE!! Hey I love this song! *R E S P E C T I KNOW WHAT IT MEANS TO ME* Ooooooh another hill!"

Whereas my randomness may occasional flutter to the world around me but soon it takes off into worlds unseen by man.

My ISFP friend is a bit like this. Her facebook profile pictures demonstrate this completely. They include pictures of:

- a brightly coloured, fruit-laden tree
- a sculpture shaped like a giant flower but covered with tiny mirrors like a disco ball
- cutely painted faces on bus wing mirrors
- someone in a spongebob squarepants costume completing the New York marathon
- 2 pairs of shoes side by side (her's and her husband's I assume)
- a white Greek house with a blue door, and a bright, clear sky above
- a peacock
- a picture of herself standing in front of a giant garden gnome
- a swimming turtle

She's also does the same with words. She's always writing things of interest down in a notebook: words of wisdom, sayings, books or movies to read/watch etc. Sometimes, it's like she's trying to mentally collect the world and everything in it.

Seems logical that ISFPs would do this: strong personal impressions (Fi-dom) based on sensory things (Se).
INFPs... I guess Fi coupled with Ne would instead give random bursts of outrage such as: "Oh my god, I just realized how people totally slaughter those poor baby seals! This just feels SO wrong!"

(INTPs on the other hand will randomly give some very smart ideas that are either completely useless or unrelated to the subject)

I don't do what the OP says, I'm more like saying random stuff, like [MENTION=13402]Saturned[/MENTION].

But I have an ISFP friend who likes to comment about everything she sees, usually about people in the street, or about the way I do things. I'm never paying attention to anything, including the way I'm doing things, so it's kinda useless for her to comment them with me. I'm more an ideas person, lost in my mind and away from the world. It's nice to see her with her boyfriend, they notice everything and comment about what they see with each other. ^^

So thus far, not a single person actually DOES this, ISFP or otherwise. Of course, we don't actually have many ISFPs on the board ... but hmm. Doesn't seem to be an INFP thing at all.

I point out things to people, mostly to people that I know will appreciate them. Definitely don't recount anything to people who are not there at the moment, they need to see what I'm pointing out. I remember going hiking with friends through a park some time back, we saw a bushbuck, warthogs, a giraffe, mongoose, squirrels and various troops of baboons. Guess who noticed them first and pointed them out? Every single time.
