Before my teens my favorite stuff was all classical, first was Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik which was replaced by Beethoven's Ode To Joy, close runners up would have been Fur Elise, Piano Sonata No. 14 (Moonlight) and Violin Sonata (Kreutzer). But even to this day Ode To Joy can move me to tears it is so beautiful and being raised in a German household I can understand the lyrics which makes it all the better. Wish I could read Italian!

After that all things Zep! And when I get down some In The Light is such a great song for me to listen to.

I used to have my mom play this cassette in the car whenever we went anywhere. Listening to it now makes me nostalgic...

I was a horrible baby. I am told that I screamed and cried pretty much 24/7. Except when Disney Sing Along Songs were on.

I was raised on a mix of metal (my dad) and 80's pop/90's alternative (my mom). So songs in those categories make me feel all nostalgic...

My number one favorite childhood song was Loreena McKennitt's "The Mummers' Dance". :) I came across it while watching the TV series, "Legacy", but similar to Uumlau, I only found out the name of the song when I was much older at 17.

And "Colors Of The Wind" from Pocahontas. :D :wubbie:

I also liked the whole Tarzan soundtrack, especially "Son of Man"

Lastly, "Prelude in E-Minor (Op.28 No. 4)" and "Fantasie Impromptu" by Frédéric Chopin. My love for his music carried well into my adulthood.

I was just thinking today about whenever my favorite childhood song comes on the radio and how, although it's been years and years, my mom still always says, 'It's your song, Kate!' lol

So did you have a particular favorite song as a kid that just always stuck with you?

By the way, mine was 'Everything I Do (I Do it For You)' by Bryan Adams XD;;

My mother always used to sing a particular song and though i can't remember the title i always remember the chorus "I'm thinking of the days, those lovley days you gave me....days i'll remember all my life..." Anyone have any ideas about this?

My Dad played tons of Beatles so i'm pretty well versed in most of their songs. My first record that i bough myself was a Madonna one, i think it was "borderline"

I also had a lot of reggae (the real old school reggae not the modern ragga crap) around me and my mother joined a reggae band for a while.
God so many different genres pretty much the full spectrum.

Could anyone please tell me how to embed a youtube video?
The technophobe in me has taken over my incorrigable independance and i simple can not cope!

When I was about 5, it was the "Siamese Cat Song" from "Lady and the Tramp."

When I was about 8 or so, it was the "Ghostbusters" theme song.

When I was about 11 it was "Home Sweet Home" by Motley Crue.

When I was about 15 or so, it was "Epic" by Faith No More (lyrics: "You want it all but you can't have it/ It's in your face but you can't grab it....etc)

When I was about 17 it was "Stop" by Janes Addiction.

LOL. Mem-O-Ries :D

When I was little little, I used to love the 12 Dogs of Christmas Song and listen to it over and over again. Basically, the 12 days of Christmas with dog breeds. xD I am also a fan of animated films, and I think there was a time when I liked "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," the version from The Lion King movie. Basically, I loved the majority of the soundtrack from that movie.

But as a preteen when I started listening to radio music, I loved the song Before Your Love by Kelly Clarkson, and The Way You Love Me by Faith Hill, and Complicated by Avril Lavigne. Earlier in middle school, I went through a phase when I liked techno music, not so much into that kind of stuff anymore but I don't hate it or anything. I'm still of fan of Faith's music to this day. Just country music in general will never get old to me.

Oh man, the 70’s. Most of the music I remember was atrocious. Disco and Valium rock (that’s what I called it- folksy guitar music). Guess the country was sewing itself back together after Vietnam.

Let’s see, it’s probably between Stairway to Heaven (It was the first song I remember hearing at 3 years old) or- and yes laugh all you want- Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce.

Then the 80’s came and I fell in love with all the music they played on WFNX (based in Lynn, Ma) at the time. That music would later be termed Alternative. I’m still very much in love with it to this day.
