Why do you give rep points?

1. I want to tell someone their post appears more meaningful to me than it would if I simply liked it.

2. I want to tell someone something short but I don't think it's particularly necessary to quote the whole thing and post in the thread myself.

3. I want to show some sort of personal support in some way.

4. I am currently in lurking mode, meaning I don't really want to make any posts, but I read something I want to reply to anyway.
