Its a bit hard to tell from your posts, but it seems possible that INFJs have qualities that you strongly want combined with qualities you strongly dislike, and that the good qualities are the ones that people in general fix on to before the bad ones.
(I seem to have attractions go like that, though without me acting on them.)
Or it might just be that you've somehow been "trained" early on to look up to qualities INFJ's have, but those aren't really the most useful ones.

Yes, I think this too, but don't know where I would have received the early training. Individualism and idealism weren't exactly highly prized qualities in the atmosphere I grew up in.
I wasn't even really turned on to such outside of myself until brushing up against transcendentalism briefly in school
My INTJ father was into what he called free thinking in religious matters but really what he was into was conforming with rosicrucian type beliefs. So really he was more conformist than not. He was never what could be termed an idealist in INFJ terms. His Te wanted practical application.
